For info, latest Google Maps v5 also has started this cool new feature which saves tile maps including 3D building into SD card for offline view
*
Ver. 5.2.1 you mean? Sadly, M'sia cities don't have 3D building yet.

But the cache maps really a good feature.

i need opinion and help here.i'm going to buy galaxy s tomorrow.what should i check before i completely done my payment tomorrow ? like to check the pakacge, what shoud included in the pakacge ? the phone, what should i check to make sure it is ori ..and etc... ?? that is important for my phone.
*
3 things which is important to check:

1. 3 buttons recovery/download mode
2. Running Froyo
3. Checking GPS

Other than the above, you might want to check whether it is a SuperAmoled or SCLCD and your phone IMEI tally with the IMEI no. that sticks at the back of your phone.

how to check the phone running froyo or other version.*1234# ?

Menu>Settings>About Phone>Firmware version = 2.2

what shout i check about the gps ? i dont really understand what the problem of SGS's gps.

Pull down notification bar from top, press on GPS, press back, open Googlemaps

whether it is a superAmoled or SCLCD,just differentiate it by looking at the screen or have another method ?

This I am not sure.

and..what is IMEI tally with the IMEI no.i dont know that.and for what purpose to check that thing as an important thing to check.

You said want to check whether it is original, so IMEI no check is the best way. Open phone, dial *#06#, IMEI pop out. See whether it is the same with the sticker at the back of your phone behind the battery.

sorry to many question.i'm still noobies to galaxy s..  biggrin.gif

Installed new swype on my Galaxy S, finally get rid of the annoying Tips Indicator!!!
*
I also find it very annoying.

QUOTE(jujx @ Mar 14 2011, 02:23 PM)
use Titanium backup or SGS Tools to uninstall your current Swype.

Reboot the phone

get swype from here https://beta.swype.com/android/get/

Make sure you're registered first
*
Is the beta stable? What ROM you are using now? Just worry about compatibility issue.

Using sweetHoney 2.5

Just use Titanium backup to backup first before uninstall original swype.

After you install the new swype, the custom skin by samsung is gone, if you don't mind then go for it
*
Ok. Thanks. rclxms.gif

how if one of them is rooted device and another is not rooted?
tq

You need to root to use titanium backup. If you use Kies, you only can backup contacts and calendar only, for this you can do a sync to gmail can do already. Kies cannot backup your apps+data, sms, etc.

will be waiting for that!
but i ditch damian gto. m using speedmod now. i feel speedmod is better
*
me too. But I will try damiangto again in 2.6. Hopefully it didn't give me the bad experience i encountered in 2.5.

anyone can use video call in skype here?

Skype don't support video call for Android yet. Use others like tango, fring(I am using this!), YahooMsg, ooVoo(Can do multiple video call), etc.

Hi sifus , need a bit of help here . I just upgraded to Darky's ROM . However , I noticed that I do not have CWM recovery . Mind to point to a direction to get it ? I did it by this way .... Froyo 2.2 > 9.2 via Odin > 9.3 after installing the Darky's application .

*p/s : Official Ginger is out , anyone tried it ?
*
Are you sure no CWM? It is built into Darky ROM. Maybe it is a Voodoo CWM you see.

^I remember the Maxis guy told me to send in the warranty card within 1 week upon purchase. Maybe they have a record by checking your IC.

what i mean is i need it to get back as what it is when u get as brand new as i need to sell off the phone.
*
IC. Factory reset will not remove the root. You most probably need to flash back the original ROM using ODIN to remove the root.

The push email function will deliver the mail to your phone the moment you receive at your inbox. No need update interval.

You need to download and install Samsung Email from Samsung Apps for use with live email with push notification.

thats mean our gmail gonna push the mail to our phone instead of our phone check for the update from our gmail right? do we have to set anything at our gmail?

Yes. Nothing much to do other than register your gmail account at your phone and everything is auto from there on.

May I know how to inactive this? Or switch off all the auto on9/check mail/connect to internet function?

Is it just switch off all the wifi/gps then ok?

I don't have data plan and i with Maxis (blood sucker, if careless!!)
*
You can switch off your data by press and hold the power button longer. Then your background apps, emails, or whatever will not be able to use your data plan. Save battery too. smile.gif

If you want to keep your data on and be selective, you can go to settings>accounts n sync>background sync=off
