IMO, flashing isnt really that hard..u've just gotta suck it in and jump off the bridge! hahaha

HKC Maxis, topped my limit again.

Is the 3G watchdog buggy? As it shows only 200+MB data usage so far, so it's quite impossible that I've made that much calls. So I believe it's the data usage.

Any other recommendations on 3G monitoring apps? Gonna put a few in and see how Maxis gonna lie about their billing.

If I'm not mistaken if you install a rom manager you could have the option to enter recovery mode. Do correct me if I'm wrong happy.gif

And to the question of turning off data a few pages back:

Turning off Data Network Mode will also disable MMS sending/receiving. Best is to nuke the Digi Internet APN and leave the Digi MMS APN on.

Added on March 10, 2011, 5:41 pmif i have a live wallpaper on my PC, what are the steps to download to my SGS?

will it ask for which folder to enter in into SGS?

i read some where need to copy the live wallpaper into SD card or the external memory then run from there?

actually, i'm quite puzzle on HOW to donwload apps or live wallpaper to SGS.

pls advise.

thx!!!

Usually application, including live wallpaper, are distributed in .apk container. You would just have to drop the .apk and run it from the phone. Again, usually we don't drop any .apk into the device directly. We just use Google Market to get anything we want. It's an app which gets app. laugh.gif

Anyway, if you're going to get SGS SL, that is GT-i9003, a different model. You may also participate here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=40555837

Enter recovery mode, then:
1. If you're on stock ROM/kernel, clear Cache partition
2. If you're on custom ROM/kernel which has CWM recovery, clear Dalvik cache.

Try that before resorting to reflash.

As an experienced 3 button presser(LOL), I can get into recovery/download mode without shutting off the device. However, it isn't recommended as such procedure skips shutdown procedure, which may result in file corruption. Same goes for those who use app or terminal emulator (su then reboot recovery) to get into recovery mode, it does cause dirty writes, hence not recommended.

never go into the recovery mode WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF or WITHOUT EXTENDED POWER MENU.. if you use the one from extended power menu, it's totally safe as it shuts down your phone before booting into the recovery menu

if you use sgs tools or etc to boot into the recovery menu, you'll MOST LIKELY GET A DATA CORRUPTION laugh.gif

hey guys!
what's the benefit of freezing an app (using TB for example)?
no side effects right?
*

If u freeze an app, u cannot run it. The app is still there, but its more like being blocked and cannot be used. To use it back, unfreeze it. Side effect? Nothing i can think of..

There are two modes in SGS. Recovery mode and download mode. Both using three button combo, the only different is the vol button.

You should able to go into recovery mode, only download mode (in some batches) is disabled from factory (but can activate again). Please read the first page to get more info.

Press vol up + home button + power -- recovery mode.
Press vol down + home button + power -- download mode --> this is more important if you wanted to venture into flashing custom ROM.

That is weird, you should at least have recovery menu. hmm.gif It is a bit tricky.

When I got my sgs, i did not have the download mode.

When you have 3 button recovery disabled phone, you won't be able to enter both mode. That's what I experienced with my phone, until I flashed the bootloader update
