Hi, just want to know if anyone interested in making their own racing game seat? Or anyone who have made their own racing game seat and like to share their experience and design here.

After having seen ready-made frame that cost atleast RM400, I have decided to search the internet for cheap and easy-to-made frame design. I have found one that made of PVC pipe. Here's the link.

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/ontario/233...ng-cockpit.html

I have built the frame using above design. I found it to be quite sturdy. Cost to build the frame is about RM100 and it take about 3 hours to finish. I will post the picture of the frame later and if anyone interested in making one, I'll will post the detail measurements of the frame that I built.

Seat...you can chose to buy a bucket seat that range from RM400. Or go to kedai potong to buy car seat for around RM100..

Good luck to those who want to try.[attachmentid=2067434]

5. I can of oil paint for the wood or plywood
6. Thinner
7. 14 20mm pvc pipe "T"
8. 14 20mm pvc pipe elbow

This is the measurement for the base. Note: there is extra "T" that is not needed. I circle it in the photo. The width is 25 inch

Until now the pvc pipe didn't break. But not sure what is the max weight it can take. So, to be safe get a good quality thick pvc pipe.

I was thinking about using steel pipe too..but steel pipe can't easily be shaped the way you want. If you have any idea on how can make this design even more sturdy, you are welcome to suggest. The design after putting the wood on the frame, it become even more sturdy.

This PVC pipe strong or not?
You know if this steel available in this country?

Yes, you can buy it from hardware store. i have tried using this racking steel before for seat. Quite okay. The only drawback you have to regularly tighten up the screw coz it easily become loose due to rigorous racing action biggrin.gif

Hey if you tried please post you photo over here. If u are willing, post the measurement to help others. Thanks and good luck.

This is another design that I found posted on the net by GTplanet user. I wanted to use this design but I could not find 45 degree elbow. The pvc pipe used by the design is much bigger than I used.

Have you done with yours? How's your progress?

I have completed building both design. The second design, I used 400mm pvc pipe. Both quite sturdy. But the second design I have to modified a bit from original design to accommodate shifter. But the second design feel more like a cockpit than the first one.

Thanks. Why don't you try. It will be fun. In addition, when you completed it, you will feel proud that you are able to build some useful. The second design cost is about RM110.

This one, I made the front part only. Since my friend's son doesn't have a bucket seat and he wants to use couch to play.

cool,

Do you think if you put sand into the pipe will make the build steadier? Pipe that laying on the floor below the seat onwards ?
*
I would think so. but it is difficult to do that if you only put sand on the lower part coz every parts is joint.

hi...thanx so much for sharing... was wondering can we hav a complete list like how many parts of these and that so dat when we bring the list to the hardware shop they can get it right for us...

kudos for such a great tip on building a racing seat.. ^^

Actually the diagram in the first page tells you how many joints and parts you need fot that design. Good luck trying. Part wise not including seat shouldn't cost you more than rm100

Is ur seat adjustable? If is once the wheel stand is done can explain bout the adjustable seat?  thanks ts

The seat comes its own rail, as such it can only be adjusted back and forth (front and back). But not the height. Just like a car seat.
