yes KFH sells physical gold.

it's not called gold passbook. when you purchase gold from them, they'll offer you to keep for you. you can take the physical gold if you want to.

aah thanks for your answer. so does this mean below is the KFH price for gold? its physical gold price not the spot price? if this is d spot price, where can i find their physical gold prices?

Kuala Lumpur, 30 April 2010 – Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB), the first foreign Islamic bank in the country, has launched the KFH Gold Account-i. The Gold Account enables customers to purchase and invest in gold in a convenient and secure way, without having to keep the gold physically. There may even be an opportunity for capital gain if the gold price appreciates. By using gold as the underlying commodity, customers have one of the best possible hedges against inflation.

Yes, i saw on the left of the web. the price for gold. yes correct. however my questions are

1. Is this a price for spot gold or the price for KFH physical gold waffer (995 purity)?
2. Do they have a price list like UOB/maybank, that state how much d price for each waffer bar they have? For example, maybank show price list for 1oz, 1/2oz and 1/4oz and their prices respectively. does KFH have such info? i believe on the left bar side of KFH website is the spot price for gold. which is not what im looking for [The price list of their gold product]

thanks

1. I think that is the KFH physical gold, not spot price. Today's spot price  is lower than that.

2. I'm not sure about that. Maybe their price per gram is same for all weights, that's why only 1 price stated at the web.
For instance,  10g =RM1625.60 (RM162.56/gram) , 100g = Rm16,256 (RM162.56/gram). It's just my thought.. biggrin.gif
For exact information, better u call KFH directly..  tongue.gif

Hahah thanks. Yeah i think d same..but to offer same price for all d grams...is not attractive offer right? hehe. yeah i think ill go for kijang emas instead. =D

Paper gold look good becoz its liquid, however since its not according to shariah. many muslim still hold back for it. except for KFH paper gold.

and KFH does not have many branches in Malaysia.

so for muslim, they back to square one. Thats why for them, its easier to get physical gold compared to paper gold. eventhough in my opinion, its easier to liquidize paper gold compared to physical. plus safer. However muslim in this country, many of them will stick to the rules so they will avoid paper gold that not according to shariah.

if maybank or cimb or public bank can captured this moment, introduce paper gold that according to shariah, i believe they can attract alot of muslim investor.

for muslim, this is their concern

Just a matter of interest. How does KFH paper gold differ from others as Syariah compliant?
*
QUOTE(OneBuck @ Aug 10 2011, 04:36 PM)
Bank can provide paper gold and be shariah compliant provided that it is actually been back by physical gold.

Which mean, you buy paper, at the same time Bank must have/own the same amount of physical gold.

For KFH, there are actually keeping your gold and give some sort of certificate of ownership and you can take the physical at ANYTIME.
*
Yes, onebuck provide aa simplified answer for your question. but i believe there is full explanation by a member here before. anyway im so free today so i help u to know more about it.

Why KFH is shariah compliance and why maybank, cimb and public bank are not.

QUOTE

UOB do have that.. good offer, well i dont know if d price is good compare to other local supplier or what. but what most important is, u buy from a bank. its much more secure than buying something from unknown seller on ebay right? eventhou ebay fella can sell to you very2 cheap

We start investing since 2008, 15 May 2008 to be exact. It took me 2 years of research to convince my self and 2 month to convince my wife.

To date, total investment in precious metal is 1/3 of our net wealth (99% is in gold). Others are in cash, unit trust, 1 piece of land and 1 property.

Agreed not to put all egg in one basket but so far gold had beaten all our others investment in term of return.

The problem always is, we buy high and sell low aka following the crowd.
*
u buy high and then u sell low? seriously? with gold?

i thought if u buy gold, and keep it for some time, d price increase..how can u sell lower than ur buying price? unless u try to sell it in hurry / or less than 1 month / really bad bearish incident.

good article. i watch d GATA president talk on youtube d other day. how US manipulated gold and how dangerous "paper gold" is. but i believe it still down to preference..some ppl like to flip here n there to obtain quick bucks, of coz they prefer paper gold that very liquid.

for long term investor, physical gold is the way for them. more secure and if anything happen. they have d gold in d hand.

lets hope if d market do crash. d bank wont give excuses and dont let ppl to withdraw their money/gold or etc. heck, i think if d market crash, n if everyone rush to the bank to withdraw gold/money. do u think the bank have d enuff gold/cash to give to ppl?

they wont have enough..and most probably they will closed down temporarily and u cant access it. but who knows, in future we really cant predict what bank will behave.

anyone know what happen in d history of bad times? does d bank closed down? can we withdraw gold? During the war in Iraq, what happen to the bank there? get loot eh? what happen to the money of d ppl inside of d bank, can they withdraw it? i would like to know.. not to target any investor, just out of curiosity, during bad time, how gov, bank, and people react.

anyway, an animation about US debt..however it does mention about the worthless fiat paper as well.. and it potray what i say earlier..which is.

u know d danger is coming, public and other investor know as well->many of you rush to bank to change ur gold paper to physical->bank didnt grant ur permission and closed their branch that day. heck i dont think each branch have gold in their vault anyway. and if u go to HQ, is there any guarantee they have enough for all of you?

hahaha abang ular, pekara lama jangan di kenang.

btw there are 2 stratergy liao.

1. buy now, and dont care much about abit of dip or correction later, just hold to your gold and im pretty sure it will rise forward nevertheless.

2. wait for correction, buy during that time and hold.

usually for no.2, it wont happen very often..and usually..when u wait wait wait for corection, that time already 2000/oz (compared to 1800 now) and then got correction, which slight dip to 1950oz..u still rugi ma.. haha

depends on preference la abang ular, most importantly, depends on ur pocket =D
