It`s hard to find Kijang Emas, because they do not produce it anymore, for the time being.
Thank God, i manage to acquire a few oz at Maybank Kota Bharu yesterday. flex.gif

U should call Maybank branch to know whether they have stock or not.
Even KL main also only have 1/2oz n 1/4oz. No 1oz at all. (last week).
*
I've encountered the same thing too. Sometimes I have to call every branch in Klang Valley for 1 oz of Kijang. Alternatively, try UOB at Jln Raja Laut for Canadian Mapples or Ozzie Kangaroos.

only can buy at the jalan laut branch? too bad, it's not open on sat.  sad.gif

I've called a few UOB branches and all of them only buy back coins and doesn't keep stock. They would only sell if they happens to buy back some stock on that day. End of the day, it will be delivered to their HQ. I reckon UOB HQ at Jln Raja Laut is the main vault.

Would UOB or Maybank or any other banks that sell gold in Malaysia buy back Canadaian Mapples/American Eagles/China Panda/ Australian Kangaroos bought from another place?
*
For MBB, you can just walk in with your Kijang and sell it off the counter. As easy as that so long your kijang are in prefect health. No scratches, no dents... etc. As for UOB, they would only buy back coins that they sold. You will need bring UOB's official receipt back to UOB counter. They don't buy back other coins. FYI, UOB doesn't stock eagles and pandas.

you need to "chase" the antelope. they sometimes hides in maybank bangsar branch, pj branch and shah alam branch. call all of them and confirm stock before starting your hunting spree! good luck! rclxm9.gif

My advice : For those who is interested in Gold, sorry to say that gold price will start to decline until the end of the year. It will begin to rise in 2012.

in the first place, gold investment itself DOES NOT yield any interest unlike FD. in most cases, the 'friend' will turn out otherwise aka con men

As always, buy from reputable dealers/banks, either keep it physical (pamp, etc) or gold savings (UOB, maybank etc) , and not any unknown tom D ick Harry companies
*
Yes. I seconded this. I don't think it's actually legal to get 'interest' from non registered company from Bank Negara. Correct me if I am wrong. If there are 'interest' to be paid, those i-Gold account from Maybank, Public Bank, UOB and so forth would have pay you the interest in the first place.

Do check properly before committing cool2.gif

Interest was never part of the Syariah Principles. Do check in depth on this smile.gif

If you guys had enough money to buy either 1 oz. of silver every month or 1 gram of gold every month. Which would you choose for fast investment and to make quick money?
*
Silver. Mainly because 1gram of gold seems like buying dust. 1oz of Silver you get to play with it. More worthy for the bucks.

As for quick money, I don't think there is quick money to be made via Precious Metals. Precious metals is about slow and boring gains. laugh.gif

Oh okay. But 1 gram of gold is more expensive than 1 oz. of gold. Lets say for fast investment, which would be better?
*
what's your definition of FAST? fastest would be magnum 4D.

sometime we as a consumer need to be smart. If the company sell you a product for xyz and allow you to sell it back for xyz in 6 months, while in the meantime giving you some money to keep the products, you need to ask how does the company makes money to pay for its expenditures.

This spells the ingredient for a ponzi scam. Sounded like Fed Reserved?

Maybank Bangsar Baru have a new & shining stock of 1oz Kijang Emas.
Bought there today.
*
On a personal note, I realized that Kijang Emas has a premium over UOB's bullion coins. Like today, Kijang asking 4837 while UOB's Canadian Maples/Oz Nuggets are asking 4761. Come to think of it, Kijang will only probably known in the local market while the bullion in UOB's counter are more internationally recognized. Won't international bullion (eg. canadian maples, ozzie kangaroos, pamp suisse) have a better advantage over kijang in both value and recognition?

what do you guys think?

1.) Heard rumours that Kijang Emas produced from Malaysia`s very own gold, not imported from other country.
And, Malaysia`s gold are high quality compared to others.
E.g : Malaysia, Brunei & Libya oil are very high quality compared to Saudi`s.  Mostly used for aeronautical & sophisticated engineering.
When U.S attack Libya, oil supply were halted although Libya only exported small percentage of world`s oil consumption.
That because, Libya`s oil are real gem of oil(The black gold). Get the ideas why U.S & Europe hit Gaddafi like crazy.
2.) Kijang Emas & Dinar Kelantan also from virgin gold, not scrap gold like several manufacturers.
I do own Turkiye gold but after suspicious that it not from virgin gold, i release most of my Turkiye gold. I also heard the same case from private manufacturers like Public Gold.

3.) Owning a Kijang Emas like owning a real value of Malaysia.
Since most wealthy countries backed their currency with gold reserves, thus owning Kijang Emas means u have part of Malaysia harta. brows.gif

4.) Kijang Emas also rarely manufactured because it only used gold from Malaysia soil.
Same like Dinar Kelantan which only produced from Kelantan`s very own gold.
That`s the reason why kijang Emas & Dinar Kelantan not easily available.

Bear in mind that all of my statements above are rumours/hearsay and not backed by facts. icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Francesco,

I think all gold are gold of the same standard. It's only the purity that differs them apart, the 0.9999, 0.999 and 0.99 thingy. I never heard of "better-gold" before. correct me if i am wrong smile.gif

it's never too expensive to buy. I've learned that very valuable lesson 3 years ago.

I agreed. The idea is to continue accumulation (if you are into accumulations). The best way is to apply dollar cost average. Buy at constant interval of time and you will get the average of the market price.

it's probably easier to say that if you wanna buy bullion coins, just go to uob jln raja laut branch. you can sell it any other uob branch. better to call before you go to check if they hv stock or otherwise.

happy investing!

you also can buy pamp suise from UOB. however, the spread of pamp suise is high compared to other bullion. branded stuff but doesn't seems to yield better spread. any idea why is that so?

Would it be better to diversify my buying of various gold weight and buy when low periodically rather than buying in lump sump?

Next question?

Which is the best Gold Bullion Coin to buy from UOB bank? Is there many available unlike Kijang Emas in Maybank that always out of stock?
*
I would say consider only ozzie nugget or canadian maples.

My suggestion is to get the Ozzie Kangaroos Nugget smile.gif

1. Different design every year - you gets to admire the different kangaroos before you locked it under your bed. Maple has only one standard design.

2. The nugget comes with air-tite casing. maple comes in a flimsy plastic casing.

Just my preference. Both are being weighted the same buy/sell price under UOB.

Because USD value sink.

USD 1600,
When RM:USD was 3.30 = RM 5280

Now RM:USD is 2.93 = RM 4688
In fact, if using AUD, you could see gold price stagnant or even drop, even though gold price surge from USD1500 to USD1600

Great sighting! thumbup.gif
