Don't ask questions first, answer our question. Did you read? Did you wikipedia? Did you read the links we gave you? If yes to the above, which sites did you read? What did they tell you?
If you can answer all the above, you'll get it already. If you still don't, I will spoon feed you... but before that, perhaps you can try the links some of us posted.. its really helpful and they explain it better with pictures. Or you can refer to the first post. |

QUOTE(shiningace @ Dec 23 2011, 02:26 PM) sry but i have searched high and low but still find no way to differentiate normal jeans from raw.. i know that raw jeans are supposed to be in indigo colour or plain colour? and kinda hard? besides that, any way to spot them? To give you a clue, yes, raws are "unwashed" jeans. You know, normal jeans, they already wash them and apply all sorts of chemicals and distress them using machines and such. Raws are untouched, unwashed, virgin denim that just received their indigo/black dye. Because they are unwashed, they appear rigid or "hard". Jeans that are lembek and soft are washed jeans. But there are exceptions for this, as you'll learn later. One exception at the top of my sleepy head now is organic raws, which uses organic cotton. Do read up |

WRT OTiger's denim, they look raw and they have that selvedge strip, but I think the denim is of mass-manufactured quality. Looking at how it shines in the light, once you've been playing around with denim for a period of time, you can tell.
It looks very different from the material that Iron Heart, Imperial or Samurai uses. Real rough and tough raw denim should be of heavy weight, at least 13oz (not the 8oz and 9oz stuff you find in regular mass manufactured), have heavy dyes, and that is not all. The process of dying (Read more about rope dying here - http://www.rawrdenim.com/dictionary/r/rope-dyeing/) is also how you can differentiate mass manufacturers from the real raw/selvedge manufacturers. You can produce all the aesthetics to the public all you want. But the enthusiasts can see through any jeans right away. My friend taught me how to identify if the denim was rope-dyed or not. WRT Cheese Denim, looks good, but don't have enough information or larger high resolution pics to give any specific feedback. Easiest way to determine the quality of raws? Look at how it fades over time. Easiest way to fast-track that? Send a bunch of samples over to the guys at mynudies forums or superfuture/styleforum and jawnz.mikevitoroulis.net - these guys will wear down those jeans and have a verdict within 6 months. If they like it, I think Cheese Denim could be on the fast track to $_$ if they stick to their roots and qualities and not get too blinded with fame. Have a look at APC. No selvedge strip. They are good at making their denim and they know it. No need to put up some spiffy selvedge strip for show - leave those to the Japanese manufacturers who have been doing that for years - Samurai, SugarCane, LVCs maybe.. that ends my rant about all the new denim manufacturers who are hopping onto the bandwagon. Really? All the APCs I see are usually non-selvedge. I didn't notice between models ;D
Apparently, APC recently split male/female sizings up. H on the jeans label indicates males and F for females. Probably only for the new batches though. |

Wall of Fades for 2011
As for good raw jeans under a budget, Unbranded provides great value for money. But even so, you cannot compare it to Naked and Famous. The feel of the jeans itself is different. Even though Naked and Famous is already rather plain with no frills... unbranded is like totally plain raw denim cloth that was just stitched together. But that is really the main framework of raw denim |

Flat head and Tate&yoko? Looks good.. too bad its a weird guy fit and not a skinny guy. Would've interested me more. My next one should be a flathead 3001 or whatever the skinniest fit they got.
Hows the competition going? |

QUOTE(teNtiOn @ Jan 1 2012, 02:21 PM) if most of you guys are keen on the competition, why not do a headcount and try to get someone to organize a collaboration jeans for us, like what Tate + Yoko did? Even though it is just office wear, the contrasts are superb. I've read all about the The Flat Head's amazing contrasts but this is just amazing the friendly competition doesn't sounds right, since everyone is using different jeans with no similarity (eg. weight/sanforized or un-sanforized). the one with the best denim (most likely the most expensive one) will win if all being worn in the same way. anyway, evo pictures of my flat head taken by phone, slow progress due to 90% office wear. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I might get TFH-N&F-T&Y cause I just had a chat with someone on another forum and am rather convinced. Hmmm |

The slimmest fit TFH has are its collabs with SelfEdge. I haven't seen many accounts on people with them on... because I haven't been lurking on Sufu/SF or any other denim forums lately.
I'm being sucked in by TFH because of two main things. Deep, wonderful contrast.. and that beautiful backpocket stitch. I think that is one of the best backpocket stitching around. The Imperials - some people find it tacky and it does draw a lot of attention. Nudies is too common in Melbourne. I have my Diors for some low profile. I might get a black TFH x SelfEdge or this one with N&F one. I'm trying to work out my wardrobe priorities for 2012 now You looking for new denim? |

QUOTE(Shawnzz @ Jan 5 2012, 09:28 PM) hey guys, i have a raw denim from Marks&spensers. but the only thing i hate about it is the cutting. Its a boot cut. Is it possible to tailor it to a straight cut? Yes. Ask the tailor to taper it for you. You'll need a skilled tailor if you want it to really look like a straight cut. Depending on where your jeans starts "booting" out, he/she will have to start their work from there. |

Lol.. don't confuse the poor guy.
Raw jeans : 1) Wash a sz 28 2) It will feel like a sz 27 immediately after 3) After a few wears, it will stretch to a sz 29 That's roughly how it goes. And I would recommend sizing down by one. Then take a fit pic again. I like those stacks, but I feel there is a lot of room in the top block. |

Great pictures
Oh, N&F has small pockets as well? I know the APC and Diors have tiny pockets. I could barely fit my wallet at first. Now, my right backpocket has stretched and has a little convex space to fit my wallet |

LOL! i was thinking bout buying a new pair of raw jeans. mind recommend me some? was looking at the flat head kevlars.. i want durability. unlimited budget. You want durability, try iron heart. No worries bro. The fades look good though. Was it pure raw or a little washed? From the contrast, it looks like it was a pair with one or two washes in already. I know Nudies does do a lot of those - not pure raws.
Actually Nudies has some washes that are quite nice tbh |
