All pregnant mothers will have their blood group and Rhesus factor checked on their 1st antenatal checkup. Rh-ve mothers with Rh+ve fathers may produce Rh+ve babies (google up Mendelian inheritance)
Mothers who are Rh -ve will get 'special' follow up from the OBGYN throughout pregnancy, labour, and then subsequent pregnancies.
If the baby is Rh -ve, no problem.
If the baby is Rh +ve, the mother gets a Rhogam jab after childbirth to neutralize any 'stray' blood cells from the baby which may trigger the mothers' immune system to produce anti-Rh antibodies. These anti-Rh antibodies are harmful to future Rh+ve pregnancies.
Hence, in modern medicine, miscarriages / stillborns due to Rhesus disease is unacceptable.
