For non-HD Astro, better stick with old technology CRT for better picture quality over LCD.

Yes, serious. Get a Sony Triniton CRT and it will beat the LCD easy.

So I take it that you are not Asstro Beyond subscriber? hmm.gif

In my opinion it is not worth buying a good panel just to watch non-HD asstro program.

IN FACT it's so not worth to buy a good panel for ASSTRO.period.
IF you have internet connection better get a media player and reduce or cancel asstro. thumbup.gif

Don't hentam astro like that bro smile.gif I believe many are happy with Byond for RM20 extra per month. Download download juga, but BPL in HD is just enjoyable ... even my wife is a die hard fan of One HD and Zhi Zhun ... the PQ are just .... superb ... your HD TV deserves a real HD broadcast.

Back to original question by the thread starter, if you plan to watch the non HD astro, just get a CRT TV (if you can still find a Sony or Panasonic), or for RM2000 you can get a very nice astro-friendly 42" hd-ready plasma of a major brand. If you must buy an LCD, don't go bigger than 32 inch smile.gif otherwise your astro picture will "pecah" terribly. Just imho.

try Philips, but you need one with the better Pixel HD processing engine, which would put you out of your budget.

i remember some time ago, sony advertise their lcd by saying they got some kind of processing to improve astro viewing.. unfortunately, when it comes to high resolution, there's no way people can see the different. It just as bad as it is (no significant improvement)

Fact of life. Garbage in, garbage out. As far as HDTV is concerned, SD is garbage so what can we expect? Processing may make the garbage a bit nicer but still garbage nevertheless. That's why you don't often see showroom using normal Astro for demonstration.

How about LCD with LED technology? Will the viewing (Astro that is) improve slightly over normal LCD?
