Now waiting for RV03. RV02 is too long for my taste and the back plate have little room for cable management.

AP181 are around 65-70 rm ~ but dang, they're really silent & good airflow (doesn't disperse to sides)
i think most shops won't stock it as only raven series & FT02 are using it
i waited for mine around 1 week T_T

I'm still not sure if I want to get AP181. After removing the fan guard on the stock fans for my RV02 I notice a temperature drop of 3/5c for the GPU/CPU respectively.

Maybe I'll just wait for RV03. The fans are quite expensive though.

Aviator, that the sad part is.
To use the features I need to buy a slot type rom that only provided by Silverstone.
It will cost you around RM350 for that drive, and you have to wait about 3 weeks for delivery.
So I opted for a normal usb external dvd rom instead biggrin.gif

yes, for now, that thing have no use. lol.

RV03 range is targetted at Sub RM500 barrier. And it will arrive in Malaysia ESTIMATE April 2011.
And i don't really think it will kill the sales or RV02 too much. the difference still there smile.gif

Yes, RV03 will hit Malaysia market soon and we already phase out the RV02. RV02-E will replace the RV02 and RV02-E will reach on April.
So, if u like RV02 design, stay tune and new RV02-E will reach soon smile.gif
Beside that, we don't carry in the RV02(White) because nowadays not many manufacturer produce white colour parts.

In any case (pun intended), I'll be getting RV03 anyways when May/June comes.

If not because of budget constrain I would be an early adopter.

EDIT:
Chiphell translated RV03 review.

Now I'm not so sure anymore about RV03. Poor drive bays and PSU placement design. Guess I'll wait for more reviews. sad.gif

RV01 does look good but cooling performance is nothing to write home about. RV02 fixed that. RV02E even brought it to another level.

RV03 top design is acceptable but everything else is just...ugh.

will do a worklog when all my stuff comes here for the tj11.

but damn man that xspc casing

hmm u know i notice something
this is my opinion the difference with lian li and silverstone design

if u look at silverstone alu tj or ft series like tj09,10,11 , ft01,ft02
u will find they always strengten the body structure from the unibody steel or outside casing as well marginally with the overall structure

lian li designs are very minimal alu's and totally strengthen from the inside casing with their design of aluminium structure and very thing outer alu.

both casings are designed so for transport etc or u can hold it anywhere u want and the structure wont bend

but that xspc is same as MM casing.
when u put all the stuff in there will be alot of strain on the middle structure of the casing.
not so transport watercooling friendly.

my opinion

the cm 2000rpm fan's wing very sharp one, and the fan broken one of the reason because i ran it at 2600rpm+- then accidently touch.

btw, guys. I'm interested to convert my medium tower atx casing to SFF SG-02F casing I wonder will it be fit ?

I'm using Seasonic S12II 520W PSU the length is 120mm if im not wrong.
and gtx460 1024mb version. not too sure the length.

At such short in height casing, only scythe suriken cpu cooler fitted in?

The problem is if we powdercoat this way, the metal sheets become thicker biggrin.gif That's another concern we should think about.

ppl think u need to head down and see the rv03 ure self

its a very good casing.
compact and efficient on airflow.

the color combo on it is nice
the only issue i have seen on it after close inspection is that hole at the top for the fan switches is kindda big.

yup
they fixed one out of two things i hate about tj11 and tj07

the sidepanel fittings
it always takes a while to get it fully inserted back to the casing
and tj11 dunno why they cant do the screws for the sidepanel at the top of the casing so it will be hidden instead of it
being exposed at the back of the casing.. fugly

the gold color on rv03 is actually quite nice and not as distinct.
the innovative part on silverstone is actually the hdd area at the back and the front covers with filters

so far the whole casing is protected with filters other than the psu front an dback.
the filter on the fan below hmm i wonder.. its magnetic.. so will it be ok long term.

but for aircooling ppl
cable management should easy

one thing i just wished silverstone does a better paint job for inside of the casing
since ft02 .. its so easily scratches

heck the cm690 advance edition has thicker and more scratch resistant paint

The designs are more of a copy cat, so no merits for that.

yeah, finally...thanks to you partly.
the usb hubs are my custom made/converted into power distribution hubs, it is used to power all the fans and lights in the case.
I find it easier to manage cables that way, instead of making custom power cables with molex connectors all the way.

Its a custom pcb and it draws power directly from the power supply unit.
What i did was buy a normal usb hub, throw away the pcb inside and create my custom pcb.

You can buy the pcb at Jalan Pasar, its a large piece of plastic wafer with lots of holes, it is lined with copper on one side, you have to cut it to the correct size. Maybe i can upload the picture of it later.

I included LED circuits on it as well, that's why it glows on the side.

so u use and mod the usb cable for the 4pin 12v supply from psu instead of vbus, d-, d+, gnd. good idea, but do the cable hold the ampere from fans ?

I did not take much photos of my work in progress, so its difficult to make a guide...unless i buy another usb hub to demonstrate.
But i do have the photo of the completed unit..nothing much to see but on the other side, its just wires connecting the usb ports in parallel.

The usb specification allows up to 1Amp of power to be transmitted over the usb cables, the scythe fans takes less then 0.1amp so it was not an issue.
I tried connecting it to a hardisk, it did not work..... not enough power.

The things you need to take note is to know which pins in the port corresponds to which colour of the cables and also make sure how much power your device draw before connecting it.

I just migrated my machine to the rv03.

The design looks to have been inspired by art deco architecture, and I especially like the owl's face on the top of the front facade (the power and reset switches are the eyes).

However the finishing is awful, and the overall build quality to be really inferior to what Silverstone has been producing previously. Most of the plastic used is very soft and too easily breakable (think china pirated ten dollar model kits). You find better quality plastic in sub RM100 cases. When removing parts from the front panel area during installation, pieces broke itself.

The 'tool-less' locks for the drive bays are made of brittle plastic. I've broken one at the shop when checking out the case. The design of the locks doesnt actually lock any drives or drive trays so you still need screws.

The air filters nettings have such large holes, the only things it will filter are mosquitoes. Forget it if you think it'll filter dusts. And the magnetized filters at the bottom of the case keep falling off because the plastic frames are badly deformed due to the cheap materials used.

The front bay covers do not align properly. The drive bay cage with the fan attachment is very badly thought out. You have to be very careful not to let any hdd installed tray slip off the table when trying to rejoin the parts.

Compared to the RV02 this one's overpriced due to it's bad bad choice of materials and build quality.

Buy only if you need to install 9 hdd! You can't really put the 10th one in because you'll need the space for cable management.

I can't fault the stainless steel parts of the case though. But that only makes up half of the case.

user posted image

PS: I hated the gold/champagne trims so I dug them out and had them sprayed black.
The transparent mesh shows off the hdd cage fan. Rather spoils the look aint it?

I actually made some research myself. Definitely not liking the drive bays design. As for the magnetic filter, it seems like a poor design they adopt from FT03. It's the cheap plastic material for the HDD that you mentioned which killed my intention to buy it.

Seems like Silverstone is getting sloppy now.

PS: I hated the gold/champagne trims so I dug them out and had them sprayed black.
The transparent mesh shows off the hdd cage fan. Rather spoils the look aint it?

My room is so dusty it's not even funny. It's as if I'm living in the middle of desert or something.

Although my dust filter never get as thick as cent88's, but the dust still manage to get inside of my RV02.

The top panel on the RV03 has finally broken off one of the connecting 'legs'. A second one is about to come off, but its still dangling on for its life. The plastic parts are seriously low quality.

Does Silverstone cases come with warranty?

I don't think any Silverstone cases come with a warranty. If there I would like to claim mine too. My RV02 have some imperfections which is factory faulty.

4gb DDR3 1600Mhz HyperX
MSI GTX 560Ti
60gb OCZ Agility 3 SSD
1TB WD Green Drive

lately i been recommending ppl to get Rv02-E instead of rv03.
honestly i think rv02-e is so much better after they adopt the hdd cage from Ft02

still <3 my ft02, so good.

###updates###

wow i just open up my FT02 after 3 months not cleaning it.
suprisingly dust was very very minimal! dust filter doing a great job !

my FT02 is in my living room with the balcony open most the time,
it's on like 12 hours a day.

This broken top panel is an example of lousy quality plastic used on the RV03.
The front panel has similiar broken bits, but can't be bothered to take it apart to take mugshots.

I've read RV02 review that one of the downside of this case is the red HDD access LED light being overly glared by the bright blue LED.

Owners of this case, your feedback ?

Bro,

I just check the screw on another TJ11, it is very hard and not easy to broken.
FYI, all the case manufacturer using the same type of screw.
Anyway, we already report this to SST.

Silverstone is very quick to acknowledge complaints and for that a lot of points should be given to their pr and customer service. Our local distributor too must be commended.

But silverstone still dropped the ball with their quality control in recent products and this is simply unacceptable given their relatively high selling price. I hope they will up their game to ensure no subpar quality items are sold in their name. It took them a lot of good hard work to build it up after all.

SST provides very prompt after sales service. I had emailed them before on how to mount my HDD rack on the drive bay (it wasn't in the manual), and they replied me within the same day complete with pictures as examples. Haha.

haha, well the only thing thats making me hesitant to buy is the length of the rv02.its damn long compared to the rv03! it will definitely exceed my desk haha

but the difference with the original rv02 and the evolution is the hard rive cages right? and also no more tool-less for the 5.25" drives?

nvm,i bought the rv03 instead huhu..altho it may seem like a fail product to most people,i seem to like it..the overall look of the case is great, apart from the stripes that is tongue.gif a lot of room for cable management smile.gif the only thing that i didnt quite like was to remove the hard drive cage u have to unscrew a damn lot of screws! and the ventings for the psu look kinda cheesy..but overall i'm satisfied smile.gif afterall,my casing before this was a cm elite 371,so this upgrade is quite convenient for me biggrin.gif

FYI, the new TJ07 side panel might not fix your case due to TJ07 is unibody design.

Alamak. Huhu.

Anyways can try to ask Edifier whether he can order one for you. Or, look at garage sales for custom acrylic windows. Can cut into your window size and you are good to go.

Easy, just remove the nuts holding the acrylic. Bring the acrylic to any advertising/banner shop. Have them cut you a piece of acrylic. You can even get it smoked black

i guess the best way to describe something is to post a picture, as it is worth a thousand words.

here is my current project, it is still a work in progress and many more things to be done. i named it project SR-02. based on a Silverstone Raven RV-02e , i hope to mod it to give it a slightly similar resemblance to F117A Nighthawk. do comments on the current status though tongue.gif
sorry for the huge picture size though.

Bro,
sorry for the late reply, was busy doing some more touch up as much as i got the time.

QUOTE

sorry bro, didn't do any worklog. the "attachment" is currently taken to powder coating, will expect it next week and will be weld onto the side panel, until then don't have any pictures except this "draft" concept which is similar but using a cardboard to do a mock design.

Attached Image

there will be secondary attachment to the first inlet which the secondary will serve as sound dampener & look like jet exhaust fins. the secondary will be screw to the 80mm fan instead.

QUOTE
nice casing..can show some picture without LED light turn on?

i take more when i finish the little little stuff like...
~ adding a secondary back panel to hide the cables
~ add foam into the 5.25bay to dampen more sound.
~ camo the DVD drive to make it black.
~ increase the base height by another 1-2cm and expand the base to have more stability.

wink.gif thanks for tuning in.

I use TJ08-E. No interior setup picture I can provide for now. It's very good for MATX owner like me. Moreover I use PP05 short cable set to keep the cabling neat. Temperature wise, I'm happy with it. Since it's small the air cycle is fast enough, I own a Cosmos S with 3 120x120 intake fan. This casing is as good as that smile.gif

Keep 1 thing in mind though for future buyer for this casing, the RAM clearance is very minimal for tall heatsink due to the hard drive cage. I have 4 HDD installed, and the drives are already touching my Dominator heatsink. Vengeance is known not to fit in.

But you can have the HDD cage removed just in case smile.gif

Still weighing the options available. Looking around for a SFF casing that can suit my needs. smile.gif

The SRP of 779 is higher than the SG07, due to the thicker aluminium face plate? lol...

My Force GT hiding in the mount.

Anyways, Its a really solid case. Since the outer part has been posted above, i decided to post the guts of this case. Yes it would fit 1 NH-D14 and the GTX580 perfectly. The only drawback is that, once you mount the NH-D14, you have to remove the HDD cage, and thus you can only mount 1 HDD and 1 SSD. Perfect for someone who don't have multiple HDDs.

Overall, I love this case and wouldn't be trading it for anything soon.

Thank you. Just a side note though for those who are interested to build a system like this.

With a Noctua NH-D14, once you insert a graphic card, such as the GTX 580, make sure to insulate the metal frames from the cooler as they might come into contact with the GPU.

When you want to remove the GPU, you're going to have a hard time. You have to remove the NH-D14 to get the GPU out.

I see, I have a hair or something stuck inside the intake fan lol, I can hear a rattling noise but just a little, not loud at all. Kind of lazy to dismantle the case to clear it up.

BTW both of the front panel USB is 3.0 port right? I can't utilize that, my motherboard only have 2.0, I can't see any pins for the front panel USB.

Hmm.. About the hair, Whenever I remove my dust filter to clean it, and then once i put it back to its position, i would hear some sort of rattling sound for awhile. It would come randomly for a few minutes. Then it goes away. Happened for a few minutes. I have no idea what causes this but since it goes away after a few minutes, i don't want to fix something that isn't broken.

Front are usb 3.0. I think there is a mount included to enable usb 2.0 support for those whose mobo don't support the usb 3.0.

Yes it does.

One nice thing is that Silverstone has included an USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 adapter with the TJ08-E, so if your motherboard does not support USB 3.0, you can use those ports as USB 2.0 ports instead.

Anybody know if there is any replacement for the RV02-E 180mm fans controller button thingy? Found out a few hours ago that it was loose and I open the case up to check it out. The moment I touch it the whole thing fell apart.. Umm I manage to find 2 small spring and 1 small metal plate. I am missing the second one. Thoroughly searched my casing for few hours but I can't find it. Neither is it on the floor. Fixed it but without the second half and now the fan performance dropped more than half @@

And also, I accidentally scratched the side panel window.. Now it looks hideous with those scratches. Is there any treatment I can bring this baby to to fix that scratch? Something similar to this guy
LINK..
Is it possible if I just get a polishing compound (Novus?) and apply it?

Nice. It seems my intake fan starts to make more crackling noise day by day. I wonder what went wrong here.

I've read from other places and it seems there a people who have the same problem too. My fans are fine so I guess there are a lot of bad fans being assembled and shipped with the case.

Nice TJ08-E user keep in coming biggrin.gif But I start to feel this casing starts to dissapoint me when I just recently setup my SLI. It's quite cramp inside there sad.gif

Also I have to remove both side panels & top panel just to install PSU. Kind of tiring.

btw rear fan of 120mm rad on the outside dun have prob kah? coz i tried b4 with my H70...later side panel can't closed coz fan block the side panel...
urs how? hmm.gif
b4 i used Vengeance like urs (high heatspreader but no chance for hardisk cage..so i change to Vengeance LP but downgrade from 1600MHz to 1333MHz...
i think not significant difference in real time use...
i prefer put hardisk cage as it will sappok GC from bending down....hehehe

TJ07 is a great case after you dumped in a lot more money and turn it into a Murdermod. The casing itself is only "ok". At RM2k for that casing after mods, there are a lot of choices that you can go with. After all, they start collecting dusts after one loses the psyche.

You have to bring it to a mechanical shop and get it tapped out. It will take them about 5 mins. This is not too much of a problem. The last FT02 that we received came with dented uni panel. But distributor replaced it quickly.

Order your Murderbox MKII Limited Edition before its too late.

Murderbox MKII

The MKII starts with the brilliant SilverStone TJ07 unibody design. The minimalistic aluminum extrusion, with its smooth radius curves and bold lines, provides the perfect foundation for the MKII.

Announcement Sept. 5, 2012

We were contacted by PayPal who informed us that the method of pre-sale of the murderbox MKII was not acceptable to their business model, and we therefore could not use their service to process our orders. The result is that we will be refunding all the deposits to those who ordered the MKII, and suspending all ordering while we explore other options. Needless to say, this came as a shock to us as we were unaware of any written policy that explicitly limited the period of time between collecting deposits and delivering products.

On behalf of the murderbox team, I sincerely thank those of you who placed orders for the MKII and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. You will receive your deposit refunds today, please let us know if you have any questions. We will contact you if we're successful in finding an alternate payment solution.

Also on behalf of the team, I'd like to thank everyone who believed in us and supported us through this process. It's not over yet and we will keep you posted.

Kind regards,
Charles H

I just got this same case and am loving it also. Its so small yet so roomy inside to build a system. Its my first PC build and I find it easy to build. I am not using stock cooler from my CPU i5 3570k and am looking to get a Corsair H80 like you. Just curious, how does it perform? Also what fans are you using with the cooler? Is it noisy?

After releasing the ground breaking Fortress FT03 chassis in 2011, SilverStone engineers took on the challenge of making a smaller version to further increase the appeal of this unique computer form factor. Through intelligent planning and reengineering, the engineers were able to create the FT03-MINI, which improves on the simplistic design of the FT03 while reducing the size by 50%. Using 2.5mm thick, sand-blasted and anodized aluminum outer shells with no cable connectors and vents on all four sides to complement an efficient, organized layout, this chassis helps SilverStone to again set new standards in small form factor computers.

The interior of the FT03-MINI utilizes SilverStone’s unique stack effect cooling layout so a Mini-ITX motherboard is mounted in 90 degree rotation to take advantage of hot air’s natural tendency to rise. The FT03-MINI can accommodate graphic cards up to 10”, support one 3.5” and two 2.5” drives, and even entry-level liquid cooling can be installed to satisfy needs of enthusiasts. As the new small form factor chassis addition to the Fortress series, the FT03-MINI is truly a paradigm.

Hi, does anyone know where to get this part: Silverstone G11303260?

It's a replacement USB3.0/audio panel for the top part of the classic FT02.

Thanks.
