QUOTE(Kyoshiro @ Mar 31 2011, 03:47 AM) For that price range, Audi A4 1.8T is an option too. In fact, it's slightly cheaper. Actually no comparison, if can afford an Audi go for it. No one in the right mind will get a VW over Audi/Merc/BMW.Although spec wise the Passat CC is better, remapping the A4 could make it better than Passat CC Plus, A4 makes you look younger too This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Mar 31 2011, 11:09 AM |

QUOTE(jwrx @ Apr 4 2011, 10:13 AM) typical...want to drive twincharged car..but complain about FC. RON 97 now RM2.70 , +0.80 more than RON 95 can offset arr?You want to keep good FC? u will have to keep in the sweet spot of 2500-3500rpm, after that the turbo will kick in and your FC goes to hell Dun start/stop, brake well in advance if u see traffic slowing down ahead, coast and then smoothly accelerate again try for 1 week....make sure u do not pass 3500-3800rpm, always be in 7th gear and NO overtaking/braking/aggressive maneuvers and btw..if u are a smooth driver should use ron97, the fuel savings can offset the cost of the more expensive petrol and u get a better drive FC is almost always due to the right foot of driver, very rare to be the vehicles problem |

My guess
Polo Sedan vs City, Vios, Mazda 2 Jetta vs Civic, Altis, Mazda 3 Passat vs Accord, Camry, Mazda 6, Teana. Depends on the price. If its within 5-10% difference of the Japs then it will be a very exciting 2012. Added on April 7, 2011, 4:05 pm QUOTE(mavric @ Apr 7 2011, 03:55 PM) hey guys.. I think its the same lol.would it be worth it to get mk5 rims over mk6? mate of mine says he'll let it go for 1.5k but tyres old one la. what's the difference between mk5 and mk6 rims anyway...it looks the same to my untrained eye lol This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Apr 7 2011, 04:05 PM |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Apr 25 2011, 01:19 PM) Yeah I saw this on the VAGSG forums as well but the key difference is that: They did say on the webpage it will not be detectable.1) TMC Tuning Box have to get it in SG (additional cost there) 2) Any additional issues or problems with it, you need to go all the way to SG to get it fixed (of course if you are from JB then its no biggie Any idea how much is the TMC Tuning Box? Both are from Germany and TUV certified and both comes with the original manufacturer's plug so no issues there. Only thing is that if the VW ECU data logger will be able to detect this the moment you plug it in. I have asked the distributor for the other box but no response yet. http://www.racechip.de/FAQ-22i.html?xPrioS...qfkt4govfb708g5 |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Apr 25 2011, 03:19 PM) Yeah, I have read quite a fair bit about the Tuning Boxes from the overseas forums as well especially for VAG cars. A lot of them still stick to remaps but the majority of those who go for tuning boxes are usually those running on diesel engines. But yeah, pricewise, the tuning boxes are definitely cheap. Well whether its a tuning box or remapping you are basically tweaking your fuel/air ratio and injection timings. Same principle, so who is right? From the forums and internet they are both slagging off each other and I guess this argument will go on forever because by fooling the ECU or changing the manufacturer's software both will stress your engine and transmission beyond the manufacturer's specs although in different ways. Some stuff also to note about tuning boxes - How do we claim warranty in the event the box dies? Go all the way to SG/Germany/Distributor to refund for it? - Do they provide any guarantee on the car? Personally when it comes to tweaking your fuel/air ratio and injection timings, I believe every car is different (heck look at the GT-R where the engine for each GT-R is different mainly because of its complex process) and I don't believe there is a one size fits all. Not willing to risk the engine on it yet, if I were to risk it, will make sure the risk is worthwhile This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Apr 26 2011, 05:42 PM |

QUOTE(Kyoshiro @ Apr 26 2011, 06:07 PM) True, guess I'll be enjoying my stock ride for the time being. Actually I don't thing the Box will be detectable by the SC but there may be error codes in the ECU due to the way the box works. The myth is all about it being detectable by the sc affecting warranty claim. If a tuning box is so called not detectable and reversible, then it's worth the penny since it is cheaper comparing to an ECU remap. If it's detectable even after removing, then we might as well go for a stage 1 remap. Stressing the engine and transmission is quite subjective and it's depending on ur day to day driving attitude/style. Remapping and tuning box helps to save fuel at times and at least they claim that they will, also it depends on how you drive. Why bother with tuning/remapping and saving fuel. Sounds contradicting. |

QUOTE(Kyoshiro @ Apr 26 2011, 08:04 PM) Haha! True, but come to think of the fuel price, when you tend to drive slow it helps you save fuel VAGCOM will clear the errors but if the source is still there it will reappear. So it's like 1 stone hitting 2 birds Added on April 26, 2011, 8:05 pm Wow bro, ur VAGCOM can only detect errors? Or does it clear errors as well? Added on April 27, 2011, 9:25 am QUOTE(Mavik @ Apr 26 2011, 06:38 PM) Actually I have the VAGCOM already, just waiting for someone with a tuning box willing to do a test so can see if there are any error codes generated with it Great. So want to try out the tuning box? I can arrange with that guy to meet up this weekend (I am in PJ) and install in my car. But need your VAGCOM to confirm if there are any errors etc. This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Apr 27 2011, 09:25 AM |
