ECP... another name which is EHC -- emergency hormonal contraception.. as the name suggest.. it is for emergency use only.. emergency may due to missed dose of oral contraceptives pills, failed contraceptive measure (burst condom), or rapped..

Good news to boys. Now we don't have to use condom or ask our sex partners to take morning after pills. Because we have our own male pills.

still betta than using birth control pills i think? since not much side effect of ECP. tongue.gif
*
it is not a typical contraceptive pills. it is emergency hormonal contraception. it is not used as a typical contraception method.

it is never meant to be used for planned unprotected sex nor as a typical contraception method. like the name suggest, emergency hormonal , it mess up with your hormonal system. if you are to get it nasty s/e, you are going suffer it that you will miss having good time on holiday.

not more than 3 times per month? even if you have it once every 3 months, you are risking your chance of conceiving baby in the future.

go and get a proper contraception, instead of relying on emergency hormonal contraception.

not much side effect? the side effects are so nasty (abdominal cramp, dizziness, sickness, nausea and vomiting etc) and if you vomited or had diarrhoea after taking the ehc, the effect is gone.

Hi. This thread has been informational.

I have 3 questions to ask. Hope someone knowledgeable can advice.

1. Obviously the Withdrawal method (pulling out the penis before ejaculation) is not that effective. But I am wondering what are the chances of pregnancy if the penis is withdrawn before ejaculation? Sperm is present in pre-ejaculation but if the guy can withdraw in time, can we say that the chances of getting pregnant is very very low like 5%? Have you personally experienced or heard of stories where someone got pregnant even when the guy withdrew before ejaculation?

2. It is noted that Emergency intrauterine device (IUD) as a contraception method is 99.99%. But it seems that more people favors taking Emergency pills than using IUD. I guess one problem is because the IUD has to be inserted by a doctor or nurse. But is the device sold in local pharmacies? And do you think its possible to insert it by yourself without doctor's help?

3. There are always a lot of issues about using condoms. But I am thinking about the lubricant stuff that comes with the condom. Can the lubricant (by the way what exactly is the lubricant made of?) cause side-effects in long term? Not much is mentioned about the side-effects of lubricant from condom.
Also I am wondering if it is okay to have oral sex after the condom is removed since there are lubricant left on the penis.

Actually I have asked more than 3 questions... my apologies.

Thank you.
*
2. rather than going to emergency pill, use contraceptive pill instead. and some ppl are allergic to IUD.

3. lubricant is doesnt have harmful side-effect. there are two types of lubs, the water based or the non-water based. with latex condom, only water based lubricant can be used. there is no harm to swallow small quantity of lubs actually.

for your info, google it and you will get all the answer.

is long term effect of the emergency pills will have probability of not getting baby? does long does it takes to see the early symptoms of pregnancy?
*
again, do not mix up emergency contraception pill and typical / common oral contraceptives pills. frequent and prolong use of hormonal emergency contraceptive pill will cause infertility for sure. for safe sex, use oral contraceptive pills not emergency contraceptive pill.

and pregnancy is not a disease, the word 'symptoms' doesnt sounds appropriate. how long does it takes to see the sign? depends on the girl menstrual period, as quick as two weeks if the period has not come. and there is a thing called pregnancy test kit.

so,from my understanding, the ECP is totally different from normal contraception pills taken frequently.ECP is only can be used at most 3-4 times a month right? sorry for my inexperience coz its hard to understand all this medical stuff. biggrin.gif
*
though ECP can be used for not more than 3-4 times a month. but it is really dangerous. like said, ECP, emergency is used when you had unprotective sex, condom burst, missed common contraceptive pill, raped, etc etc.

i would say 1-2 times a year, is fine, but if you use it like every month, then the hormonal cycle of the woman definitely will be screwed so much.

Hey, some guy on another thread around here took postinor (yes, a male taking postinor) and claimed that he's growing breasts and losing body hair.

Most of us think it's BS but he posted some disgusting pictures of his man-breasts.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/605340/+140

Do birth control pills increase the size of women's boobs?

*
rarely but do happened. but breast tenderness is a really common side-effects.

If it's hazardous then might as well stop takin' it regularly. Maybe use it only if unplanned sex happened or engaging in unprotected sex.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
it has never been intended to be used regularly anyway.

combined oral contraceptives pills are those to be used daily, but not emergency hormonal contraception.

Agreed with kmarc. What about surgery? It is confirm to prevent pregnancy for life, and does it still count as contraception.  hmm.gif
*
what kind of surgery. hysterectomy and vasectomy, the bad thing about it is that they are not reversible. should you decided to have children in future, you will have no way. as for contraceptive pills, stop taking it and it is totally reversible.

how much does it cost to install IUD???

Added on January 22, 2008, 3:50 pmis there any side-effect or something to it???
*
lots, allergy to the IUD, or develop infection after insertion.

QUOTE(skymyxe @ Jan 25 2008, 05:08 PM)
Yeah. surgery is like that. Once done can't be undone. I've had a teacher back in school who done it.  nod.gif
*
it is quite common actually. a lot of people have it done just after delivery of baby if they have decided that they dont want any more children.

erm... what is the effecient way prevent pregnancy? i only planned to have another baby next year....
*
either oral contraceptive pills or condom. if you dont want to mess your woman body system, then dedicate yourself to use condom, else bring your woman to a doctor or family planning centre to see what type of contraceptive pill will suit her most.

as long as your woman is not ill, did not miss a dose, taking it at the same time everyday as instructed, had diarrhea or vomiting, take any antibiotic, then it is quite an effective contraception.

hi all,

is it possible after taking ECP, one didn't have any side effect other than easier to get tired and emotion affected?

and bout the blooding issue, will immediately come after 2 days of taking the pill O_o" ???
*
the answers are

NO and

NO.

well not all ppl will get the s/e of ecp though, and only abt 5% will get nausea and vomiting whom actually vomit and therefore the ecp has no effect.

after taking ecp, you will still have to practice safe sex.

I doesnt follow all the post here one by one , can i ask what's the best combination to be safe rather than sorry ?

Condom with ?

What the heck is birth control pills ?
What's the differences between BCP and Morning after ?
*
morning after is emergency hormonal contraception. it is used when unprotected sex (failed contraceptions e.g. burst condoms, missed dose of oral contraceptives pill, raped, etc) happened in the past 72 hours. as the name itself suggest, it is used in case of EMERGENCY.

whereas bcp or oral contraceptive pills are medication that is taken regularly/daily (often 21 days per month) to prevent pregnancy. bcp is used for family planning, protect from unprotected sex.

ecp is never meant to be used as regular contraceptive measure.

basically, if condom or bcp is used appropriately, it can prevent pregnancy up to 99%. so if you are a responsible man, use condom for contraception, else if you are reluctant to, at least ask your partner to take oral contraceptives, and of course that has to be prescribed from the doctor for the first time.

My gf took it roughly 24 hours after sex, Postinor2..... I am wondering why her period havent come, its 5 days since we have sex, her period suppose to come on 21 Mac, but delay until now .... I am so worry...
*
there is plenty of reasons why period could come late. stress are the most common, but also could due to the EHC pill.

the best way to keep your worry away / answered. go and get her pregnancy test kit. if it is negative, then you dont have to worry anymore and just wait then, period can come two weeks late. if it is positive, then it is time to plan then.

so, if the intercourse was with a condom and it did not tear, no semen entered the vagina right? also, if the ejaculation was done outside the vagina, is there still a chance of pregnancy? two very safe steps in preventing pregnancy were taken; a condom and ejaculation outside the vagina. any chance of pregnancy ? smile.gif
*
chance is always there. but what are the chances?

use of condom appropriately prevent pregnancy upto 98% something.
