how about contraceptive patch? does it really work? and can we get it in msia? i actually saw some westener with the patch on their arm b4. but am not sure whether can we get it in msia.
is there any other way beside, taking contraceptive pill, condom and IUD? heard something about injection for the female and can prevent pregnancy up to several months. is that true?

Hi i'm a young mother of 3... I've been using IMPLANON since 2006...
It can last for about 3 years depending on the person's body mass.
So far I've never had any side effects; beside the minor headache once in a blue moon.

Implanon(R) is a long-acting reversible contraceptive. It is shaped like a tiny rod which is inserted just under the skin at the inside of your upper arm.
Implanon(R) is applied subdermally in the middle of the upper arm.

Benefits of Implanon(R):

* You are protected from pregnancy for up to 3 years
No daily action is required
* Implanon(R) doesn't interfere with your sex life
* Your pre-existing fertility returns quickly after the removal of Implanon(R)
* Its quick and easy to insert and remove

Who can use Implanon(R)?
Women who:

* want an easy to use method that, once in place, does not require any action by them
* want an alternative to sterilisation
* want to space their children
* want to delay having children
* are not or no longer satisfied with their current method of contraception
* cannot tolerate or are contraindicated to synthetic oestrogen
* want a tolerable, effective, easily reversible method of contraception

Who can't use Implanon(R)?
Women who have:

* active thromboembolic disorders
* progestogen dependent tumours (known or suspected)
* presence or history of severe hepatic disease as long as liver function values have not returned to normal
* benign or malignant liver tumours
* known or suspected carcinoma of the breast
* known or suspected pregnancy
* undiagnosed vaginal bleeding

Where'd you get the Implanon? Have you taken it out after implantation?
Any side effects? Weight gain etc?
*
I got it from my gynae... (only certified gynae can do it>check out their clinics with their cert)
I haven't taken it out yet.. it's due early next year...(lasts 3 years)
Currently no side effects.. but minor headaches once in a blue moon..
but it's worth it as i don't have to think why my period isn't here yet or S*** i forgot to take the pill...
and plus if you calculate the prices of pills of 3 years plus the condoms you buy.. it's almost the same..
so why not pay a little more to get full confidence right?

once you've reached puberty, then you can use Implanon.. it's advisable for working adults actually..
