QUOTE(Susiedolz @ Nov 10 2008, 08:23 AM) the morning after pill isnt suppose to be taken on a regular basis.... it is for EMERGENCY only~~ reason being is that its realli bad for ur body and mite hinder the chances of u havin a baby when ur older... if u wanted to have unprotected sex ... should have taken the CONTRACEPTIVE PILL... n neways even if u take the pill.. itdoesnt protect u from STDS...... Even contraceptive pills (combined oral contraceptive pills = COC) has effects which is bad. But then again, there's Estrogen in the Contraceptive pills which lessens the effect of the progesteron in it. Emergency pills on the other hand is usually purely progesteron, so there you'll have hormonal imbalance, leading to most of the side effects mentioned Advice - Sex only after marriage, if not ... CONDOM!

QUOTE(klifex @ Nov 19 2008, 04:29 AM) anyway, the one who should be counsel is the guy... girls, learn to protect yourself...advice your bf. emergency pill is not a all time solution for "accident". you'll be very suffer taking these kinda pills...especially most of you will feel nausea and vomit..and if you did vomit out the drugs... have to becareful, because there's a chance that the dosage is not enough to push you up to "safe" contraceptive level. that's when these emergency pills failed... Thumbs up for klifex! you have my support! Avoid OCP by avoiding sex!

QUOTE(satsugai @ Dec 26 2008, 01:58 PM) My girlfriend and I have sex very regularly. So out of paranoia, she took the morning after pill, one in the morning of December 24th and one at night. The next night, we had sex again but this time the condom tore. Thing is, I had no idea the condom had torn so I went ahead and ejaculated in to her vagina. Needless to say that the both of us were really freaked out. So she took an ECP (morning after) this morning. My question is, is it safe to take an ECP not more than 48 hours after taking another ECP? Also, what are her chances of getting pregnant if she didn't take the second ECP this morning? thanks. Depends on when you had sex with her in relation to her period cycles. If it's far from ovulation, the chances are minimal on it's own. However, if you're talking about ovulation period, then the chances are extremely low because she took the pills just the day before. That is enough to cause hormonal imbalance to prevent pregnancy!

QUOTE(love_hina @ Dec 30 2008, 02:58 PM) To be honest my baby girl is 3 months old liao, When she was 2 months and a half, i have "ahem" with my partner using condom (put on condom on later on ..) my period didn't come until today. so is it normal for every women (just gave birth) and i don't feel nausea or any pregnancy's symptoms. kinda worry now Aw, so cute! Anyway, do you still breast feed your 3 mth baby? If you do, then you shouldn't worry too much because breast feeding causes NATURAL contraceptive! That's why you dont even have your period back yet. Periods usually come back normally after a few months after delivery! I dont think you're pregnant, but please try taking daily oral contraceptives or use the condom properly (as soon as penetration) to avoid POOR spacing between 2 children. You want to be absolutely back to normal before you get pregnant again!

QUOTE(love_hina @ Dec 31 2008, 10:27 AM) Oh.. I didn't know that breastfeeding will cause natural contraceptive. This info is so useful to me.. Made me glad now. I stopped breastfeeding when she is 2 months and a half because i'm going to start working after new year. I know breastfeeding is the best for the baby, but working life have to go on. Next time i will be more extra careful...i had already enough kids now. 4 in total. Thanks for such info. Oh, I thought you should know that it is natural contraceptive since you've 4 children already. That means you have stopped breastfeeding just 2 weeks before you had sex? Surely it's no problem then.. relax, you'll be fine! Family planning includes contraceptives.. like Contraceptive Pills and condoms. That way, you can enjoy your relationship without worrying about your family growing too big! Yup, breastfeeding is recommended till 6 mths.. but there's always ways like breast pump, in which you can store your milk and let the baby drink even when you're at work!

QUOTE(love_hina @ Dec 31 2008, 11:34 PM) for my 1st and 2nd, i did use breast pump. but kinda painful around the nipple area. and i dont like practicing storing milk. afraid the bacteria growth .. doctor advised me after you make the milk, and your child do want to drink at that time, you only can store less than 1 hr. after 1 hr, the milk cannot be drink because of some reason..due to bacteria ? i had forgotten and follow up with my 3rd and 4th child, i practiced breastfeeding. few days before your period come, so that's mean your period will be coming in any days later? i think it is safe if you have sex before period, not really make sense for after period came.. correct me if i'm wrong. sperm do survive for ?? hours and took how long to get to the ovum .. need someone professional to answer that You can store the breast milk in the fridge. It will last for 1 day. Store in the freezer, it will last for few weeks. I dont know exactly, but you can find out!

QUOTE(hikari12 @ Jan 2 2009, 11:56 AM) so does it means tat it safe to do sex few days b4 the period come??? cuz my bf does not rely agree i take the morning pills.. Nothing is 100%. Think about it, before period & after period is THE SAME. It's still the 28-30 days inbetween. So it's better to say.. The "safe" period is between 1-10th day and from 20-30th day. Like i said, nothing is 100% safe. So best to use a condom or ejaculate elsewhere. It's sad that your bf dont agree you take the pills. Maybe he should remember that you will be the one becoming pregnant if you dont take the pills, and if anything goes wrong, he should be responsible! He dont agree you take the pill then just dont ejaculate in you! Easy for you, logical as well!

QUOTE(slushie @ Jan 6 2009, 08:19 PM) cannot take more than twice because some women might experience menses after they consumed this.. imagine they hav to experience 2 times of period flow in a month.. besides, it's also stated on the instruction leaflet.. Ah, very good point! So people, you dont want to bleed to death! no pills more than twice a month! What if she doesnt bleed after those 2 times, can take more?

QUOTE(Kasumie @ Jan 8 2009, 11:30 PM) i wanna ask if i still protected or not having unprotected sex 3 days after my period stopped???Btw Im taking Mercilon for a month d,now im taking 2nd pack..When first month taking Mercilon,my period nv stop for a month, period on for a month,so Im wondering if this is the side effects beginning taking the pills???Now im thinking should i take ECP after having this unprotected sex in 3 days after my period stops. How long did your period last? In normal circumstances, if it's 5 days then it'll be on your 8th day, and your ovulation should be around 14-15, so you'll be quite safe. However, u've been bleeding the whole month! So that's VERY VERY wrong and I believe it is not a good idea to take the second pack! Clearly you're suffering the side effects of it, and you could possibly be very pale and anaemic now. So please get advice from a doctor or just stop the pills so you'll stop bleeding (just in case you bleed again, since you said you've stopped bleeding) You're not suppose to bleed for 1 month while taking mercilon. In regards to your last sentence, I dont think you need to take ECP since you've been on mercilon for a month already.

QUOTE(Kasumie @ Jan 9 2009, 08:13 AM) My period came for a month since i started taking the first pack.So i think it shoud be my body still adapting to the mercilon so tats y it have uncommon period. however my period starts on the 8th dec 2008 and it stopped at 4th jan 2009.And i started back my 2nd pack on the 5th jan 2009.Im afraid that Mercilon not effect for BCP if I do have such effects, but I came across that Mercilon will be effective after taking it for 7 consecutive days.So how?? What kind of bleed did you have throughout that month? Sounds very weird.. you should NOT bleed like that, and certainly your body would not react like that normally. PLEASE check if you've enough blood, because you've lost blood for over a month, you're highly at risk for anemia! Yup, it should work after 7 days.. you'll be safe.. but my advice is still to stop the OCP. Come on, just get him to use protection and save your hormone levels plus your blood! This is an effort to get the best care for you..

QUOTE(Baby-Lemon @ Feb 4 2009, 12:58 AM) i wana ask while taking mercilon, if got take other med like flu d ... will affect the pill ? It's called drug interaction, which you should be careful about while taking different medications. However, most flu drugs wont cause any problems with your OCP. Out of the topic, if you're not married and you're not into family planning, try to avoid OCPs..

QUOTE(Baby-Lemon @ Feb 5 2009, 01:21 AM) hmm.... really ? so normally flu medication wont affect it d rite ? Normal flu medications wont, it's as simple as that. Unless you've TB blablabla, but highly unlikely you're having TB because you wont be spending much time online, plus you'll be on medications daily and you would have mentioned that. But clearly, the topic is about FLU, so dont worry, you'll be alright. Advice above is VERY much of significance, remember to inform your Doc that you're on OCP and he'll be careful, of course, if he's bright enough

QUOTE(fuzagi @ Feb 23 2009, 06:59 PM) because its 'shaving' her uterus walls and its bad for pregnancy. i dont think taking 2times a month is good enough. i still recommend once in 2mths or more. Tht's hot. Anyway, it's not like people get the chance to choose how many times they wanna take the PILLS.. it's EMERGENCY! If you're in an emergency then you jolly well just have to take it! Of course, prevent yourself from getting in that situations with proper precautions.. but the way people are discussing it here, it seems like ppl wanna take it once/twice a mth like medication!

QUOTE(steffy1811 @ Mar 30 2009, 04:34 PM) ECs... hmmm I personally wouldn't recommend them unless it's EMERGENCY and it's been close to 12hr since the exciting ordeal. If not, ECs tend to send the hormones haywire. Especially so in girls who has a irregular menstrual cycle. Every girl that I've known who has used them tend to share the same story. Irregardless of whether they have a consistent cycle or a irregular one. ECs will either make you bleed earlier than usual or way, way, way later than usual. To make matters worst, it is not a secret that stress will contribute to late period. So the more worried you are, the chances are it's going to be even later. So if the only way to make sure is do a home pregnancy test. To the girls, I feel girls should be more well informed on issues like this. If you find yourself having to take ECs more than once a month, I suggest you better make a trip to the GP or O&G and talk about monthly OCPs. It's proven safer than ECs with at least some benefits to it (i.e: better skin condition). It's definitely more expensive than ECs but it's definitely better than flooding your body with hormones sending all the wrong messages everywhere. Totally agree. It causes hormones to go haywire because that's exactly what it needs to do to prevent a pregnancy. Pregnancy depends a lot on hormones, and with the ECs killng the hormonal stabilty, not only will pregnancy be prevented but regular bleeding will also be affected. It's actually scary when it causes menses to bleed later. One will probably think she's pregnant. However, it usually causes abrupt bleeding, which is also scary. Conclusion, stay away from it
