for virgins that is concer about cervical cancer you can opt go get ca125 blood test, it is used to detect cervical cancer as well. However it is not as accurate as pap smear, and the result may vary due to ur health conditions ie imflamations such as soar throat, it may tend to increase the ca 125 count. If u r planing to go on ca125 blood test please make sure that u r not on medication or having period or near to having period or just finish ur period. The ideal date for the ca12 blood test is around 1 to 2 weeks after period.
Unfortunately this is not true at all. Tumour marker is never a mean to screen for cervical cancer. Pap smear is still the best screening test. Gals, pls don't have to worry about where is the best place to do Pap smear. It does not have to be expensive private hospital. It's a simple procedure to be done and all hospitals, and most of the clinics can do it. If the result is abnormal, you'll be referred to a gynecologist.
Yes, every sexually active female should do this screening. It's for your own good. Early detection significantly makes the prognosis (outcome) more favourable.
Lastly, yes the vaccine is recommended. The age limit (9-26 years old) stated is due to the large-scale study was conducted in such a range of age. So the result (effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing cervical cancer) can only be applied to this age group for now. Of course, more studies are being conducted for a wider age group, and in future, we can expect a larger coverage. The vaccine is quite costly, RM400 each and you need total of 3 doses, so around RM1200.
Hope these help.
