DRB-HICOM Bhd’s pre-tax profit for the nine months ended Dec 31, 2010 increased 67.2 per cent to RM566.9 million from RM339.1 million in the previous corresponding period.

Net profit rose by 87.9 per cent to RM400.1 million from RM212.9 million, the company said in a statement today. Earnings per share improved to 20.7 sen in the same period compared to 11.0 sen recorded previously.

DRB-HICOM's nine months revenue rose to RM4.81 billion from RM4.72 billion in the previous corresponding period.

This increase was a result of the improved performance of the group’s automotive and services sectors which contributed to 57 per cent and 41 per cent of group revenue, it said.

"

DRB-HICOM said with the financial improvement reported in the nine months of current financial year, the business outlook of the group’s operating activities for the fourth quarter was expected to remain favourable. -- Bernama

HI BROTHER,

Stock to Watch

Tradewinds Corporation Bhd has returned to the black with a pre-tax profit of RM155.3 million for the financial year 2010 from a pre-tax loss of RM6.6 million in the previous year.

The improvement was attributable to higher revenue generated, better share of associates results, fair value gain on investment properties and financial assets.

Tradewinds Corporation's revenue rose to RM562.6 million from RM474.2 million previously, the company said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

It said the increase in revenue was mainly due to an overall improvement in hotel, trading and financial services divisions and the sale of land by the property division.

Moving forward, Tradewinds said the financial performance of the hotel division was not expected to show any improvement compared to 2010 due to refurbishments being carried out in certain hotels.

The refurbishment of the hotels, which will be completed in stages, was expected to benefit the group in the medium term, it said.

The property investment performance, meanwhile, would be affected as the group was embarking on the re-development of Menara Tun Razak and a construction of a new tower block.

As a result of fair value accounting, the group will be impacted in the short term. The re-development, however, will have positive impact in the longer term. -- Bernama

All in all, the year of the Metal Rabbit provides great opportunity for investors to reap the rewards of astute investing, but they should be forewarned: those who chase two rabbits will not catch one.

Does it implying NOT to diversify ?
*
Kinda agree.

I adopt hit and run for now.

But do not like to chase after the rabbits, preferably let the rabbits to come to me.

Best of luck.

As far as I know ( a little bit ) , the social problem issue of Arabs is not something new at all.

Confucius ( born in BC ) , talked much more about the Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance of China Govts a long time ago. But most China Govts do not like him ( sidelined ). Branded as Pro People for a prosperous China.

Though still the world knows very little about him, the evolutions of the internet and Facebook and so on did in fact bring out the important messages of Confucius ( speeding up the processes )

Soon Governments all over the world would want to learn from Confucius.

Then Investing would be more fruitful as resources are put into greater use for the people all over the world.

Should be a cheer for long term investors.

Sori, for being OT. notworthy.gif

Just my thought only.

Hope is coming the way, get ready :-

The U.S. said it will assist Libyan rebels trying to force Muammar Qaddafi from power, as pro- democracy protests that have swept the Middle East spread to Oman and reignited in Tunisia.

"We’ve been reaching out to many different Libyans who are attempting to organize in the east and, as the revolution moves westward, there as well," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said en route to Geneva for talks on Libya. President Barack Obama’s administration will provide "any kind of assistance" to those seeking to end Qaddafi’s 41-year dictatorship, she said.

Anyone can share a full version of the following report :-

KUALA LUMPUR: Hwang DBS Vickers Research (HDBSVR) said DRB-Hicom Holdings Bhd is on track for a record year.
It said on Monday, Feb 28 that DRB-Hicom reported 3QFY11 net profit of RM110m (-17% qoq, +6% yoy), taking 9MFY11 net profit to RM400m (+88% yoy).
“This is in line with our RM539m forecast for the full year. While 3QFY11 automotive revenue fell 24% qoq to RM800m, EBIT was 14% higher at RM59m with margins expanding to 6% from 4% a quarter ago,” it said.
HDBSVR said this was likely due to better scale and overall lower costs for assembly and manufacturing.
Meanwhile, the 9MFY11 automotive division EBIT surged six-fold to RM133m. And services division EBIT - largely driven by its bank and concession businesses – inched up 3% to RM282m (63% of group EBIT). DRB declared 2 sen gross interim DPS.
“Next catalysts. These are: (i) conversion of LOI for Deftech worth a potential RM8bn with lucrative margins, and (ii) privatization of Alam Flora in other states in Malaysia, which had received approval from Parliament a few years ago,” it said.
HDBSVR said it believed the conversion of LOI to LOA is forthcoming given the recent agreement between Deftech and FNSS Turkey to purchase 257 units of armoured carrier frames coupled with the intellectual property rights.
The research house said this will also allow it to export to the Asia-Pacific region. We have not factored these into its SOP value or EPS.
“In the medium term, the eventual divestment of 30% of Bank Muamalat (RM600m at 1.4x BV) and revival of property launches will boost FCF and may pave the way for a more formal dividend policy.
“High conviction BUY, TP RM3.55. The stock still offers unbeatable value at 6.4x FY12F PE and 0.7x P/NTA. Our target price, based on 20% discount to SOP, offers 79% upside,” it said.

Ready to attack ?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told U.S. lawmakers, "Libya could become a peaceful democracy or it could face protracted civil war."

She said the Obama administration would look into allegations that Col. Gaddafi personally ordered the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, because of new statements by defecting Libyan officials "making it clear that the order came from the very top."

The United States said it was moving ships and planes closer to the oil-producing North African state.

The destroyer USS Barry moved through the Suez Canal on Monday and into the Mediterranean. Two amphibious assault ships -the USS Kearsarge, which can carry 2,000 Marines, and the USS Ponce -are in the Red Sea and are expected to go through the canal early on Wednesday.
