Chelsea will win the Champions League, says former legend

Former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has tipped Chelsea to be England's 'best bet' for a spot in the Champions League final. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Given the Blues' slump of late, they would be the least favourite to reach the final at Wembley out of the four English sides which includes the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Carlo Ancelotti's men are currently languishing fifth in the Barclays Premier League and their place in next season's Champions League is in jeopardy.
But Lineker has backed the reigning English champions to put their domestic woes behind them and achieve the European glory they have been craving for.
"Chelsea have struggled this season but they've got so many good players they can turn it round," he said. "I expect them to be London's best bet for a finalist.
"It's a massive draw for all the clubs involved. It will be extra special to play in a Champions League final on home soil.
"It's at Wembley, a London final, it would be quite something to have a London club in it. Obviously there are four clubs still in it. The first two who played this week have given themselves a good chance.
"Manchester United will make it to the quarter-finals and I believe there will be at least three English clubs in the next round."
Speaking on his former side Spurs, the BBC frontman, like everyone else, has been impressed with Harry Redknapp's men this season but is not too sure if they have what it takes to make it to the final on 28 May.
He said: "It's Tottenham's first season in the competition, it's a huge ask for them them to go all the way, it will be one hell of an achievement.
"It's great experience for Spurs, it's brilliant they've come this far. I would think they'd be very happy with getting to the quarter-finals.
"But this tournament has thrown up the odd surprise. Look at last year, no one was backing Inter Milan to go all the way. You never know."
Meanwhile, Spurs' local rivals Arsenal have been equally as impressive, beating Barcelona 2-1 in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie at the Emirates last Wednesday.
And the 50-year-old is adamant the Gunners have what it takes to do finish the job in the second-leg at the Nou Camp.
The former England international added: "Arsenal are gradually improving, you can see they are better than they were last year. You look at them and you can see there are certain weaknesses, in the centre of defence which might be exploited out in the Camp Nou.
"But their players are maturing and there are more young players coming through. And they play wonderful football, similar to Barcelona's.
"They're not as good in some positions as Barca but they're always easy on the eye, they're always great to watch."
Lineker made 105 appearances for Spurs and scored 67 times during three years at White Hart Lane

how the team perform in league does not determine how the team perform in CL.

to be honest, chelsea is done and dusted already this season... those who watch the last match (FA Cup vs Everton) will see a side bereft of ideas.
drogba, lampard, terry are shadows of themselves. this is a side that needs a major overhaul over the summer. they are in dire need of a creative midfielder to replace the aging Lampard, someone with an eye for a pass to feed torres and sturridge (this dude will be a star next season, the loan to bolton is HUGE for him). Also get someone with pace to work the wings to mix things up a little bit.
In essence they still have a great core in Cech, Ivanonic/Luiz , Essien, Torres (yes i'm omitting Terry, Lampard, Drogba, they are past it already). Just need some fresh blood and they'll be set to challenge all front again.
Just my dua puluh sen.
