i'm thinking of tiling part of my kitchen myself..the area is not that large...
hurm...do anyone here have done DIY Tling at thier house??what do i need to do first?as i know..if the cement is shiny..then need to make some grooves..for the tiles to stick...or use tile glue to make it stick..

spare the headache, get a contractor to quote the workmanship, for my case usually rm2-3/sq foot.

measure the kitchen area, buy the tiles yourself seller might ask if u need skirting, etc, they will add further.
(i bought at jln ipoh, much cheaper from the selayang white horse factory. U can go to selayang factory to get some ideas/design from the display, but take down the tile codes that u r interested, and buy elsewhere cheaper)

u also need to buy the "susu" to soak the tiles first, apart from tiles cement.

for kitchen area choose the less shiny to prevent slippage, shud water/liquid splashes onto tiles.

my two earlier tiles contractor just soak the tiles in water. Later on some tiles peel off (came out) from their place.

My latest/recent contractor were better (from class A contrator, experienced, jobs in big buildings etc) they advised me to buy the "susu" milk for the tiles. Their job include in my reno package, was plain lucky that they were in the team.

i bought the "susu" (their term that i used) from tiles shops at jln ipoh.

yes, because now the cerement is suck...can hard but can't glue. they need addon "Susu" to do the glue work.

How much a pack of "Susu"? Is that RM100 above?

the susu was not that expensive, can't really recall, but it was way below rm100 for 20L.
