i'm thinking of tiling part of my kitchen myself..the area is not that large...
hurm...do anyone here have done DIY Tling at thier house??what do i need to do first?as i know..if the cement is shiny..then need to make some grooves..for the tiles to stick...or use tile glue to make it stick..
*
I guess better ask other to do instead of DIY...Not everything could DIY lol

zie86,
I make a visit to SUPER CERAMIC TILES at Tmn Perindustrian Kinrara.

It not all tiles are cheap, this is base on the tiles that I try to get. Example: 2x2 Table top Black colour with Gold dot, they salling around 28 but I could get 24 from another shop (make in china)...

New finding for me...I didn't noticed we have India tiles till I visited this place icon_rolleyes.gif

yes, because now the cerement is suck...can hard but can't glue. they need addon "Susu" to do the glue work.

How much a pack of "Susu"? Is that RM100 above?

rm 180 for 25L @ old klang road hardware shop, buy at their sungai buloh warehouse will be cheaper but damp far away..
*
Gosh...25L only RM180??? I was thinking few hundred for small pack or what so ever. If that the case I could ask my contractor just buy it and use without mixed too much on water on it to ensure they glue better...

Hi to all.....

I also in the middle of house(apartment) renovation, specifically kitchen renovate.....

Actually, I want to re-tiling my kitchen floor, size around 90sqft, my contractor quote me RM1000 for hacking, labour, siment, plus tile 1'x1'...he said tiles price around Rm2/sqft.....

Do you guys think this price reasonable?
I think this too xpensive, does it?
*
It meant RM11 sqf not RM2. How he count?
1x1 tile was around RM2 - 3 except you getting than damn expensive tile and he willing to pay what ever you choice.
You may want to ask him what the max $ of tile you are allow, than you wil know how much the labour are.

How abt the workmanship...? Chinese worker? 5.50psf is reasonable......

still considered cheap? With the early statement? Hacking charge differently and the contractor suggest I lay the tile on top on another tile. vmad.gif

RM5.00 Chinese contractor and chinese worker (For large scale hacking, removing debris, floor releveling) Wall & Floor, nice workmanship
RM5.50-RM8.50 (Maincon price, standard rate for consumer for above jobs)

Finally I decided and pull the tiles job from existing contractor and pass to other tiles specilist.

Reason been
1) SInce my leaving room is replacing 2 x 2 tile, hence can't relay on top of existing 1 x 1 tiles either short or long term
2) Possiable of foot injury as the 2 x 2 edge designed was 90 degree type and no rounding egde protected, whereby 1x1 or 1x2 have a round edge. So if unbalance on the surface work it may injury our leg when walk.
3) Difficult to get balance if laying on top on the exisitng tiles with 2 x 2 (refer item 2), hence hacking away is a better solution
4) mixed of existing tiles area and new area

Also, the labour on this tiles specilist (I didn't told me the cost I been charge) is much more cheaper compared to existing contractor which charge me RM 5.50 sf for Wall / Floor, and skarting was RM 3.50 sf for in house / RM 3.80 for car pourche, if hacking involve will charge differently. Example hacked of existing 600sf area he want additional RM2K.
The tile specilist charging is RM4.50 sf for lay tiles and RM 6.50 for area that require hack existing tile out and replaced it and nd skirting is RM3sf. (Price included everything like material / rubbush ...exclude tiles)

I may be like a sucker shakehead.gif pulling the work out from the contractor, but some time just need to ensure we pay $$$ is a good reasoable way lol

Why need to charge u so expensive for hack and removed the 600sf? unless is condo ...but still consider expensive.
May i know you use the tiles skirting? he charge rm3 per-foot-run?

I m waiting for my contractor to quote me on condo job...around 600sf area too.
*
Bro,
It is existing contractor which want to charge me additional 2K if I want to removed existing tiles. and the tile specilist charging RM2 for sf, hence cheaper RM800.
Yes, RM 3 sf for skiring which also cheaper 80 cents compared to initial contractor.

Today they start hacking my area, and almost 3/4 of exisitng floor tiles been removed and non on existing wall tile broken at all (Kitchen area)...suppressing to me, which even previous contractor indicated problem / issues since never happen at this stage.

Hi guys

I have a tiling contractor but he is only willing to supply labour. I have to source and supply the materials. I only need 10 bags or so of cement. What is the going rate of a bag of cement? Do they shop normally provide delivery? Thanks in advance
*
You need more that Cement, example: Adhesive / Susu, sand....

You better ask the contractor what he need and provide you a list, than you source around especially the pricing.
