RM10 includes the tiles?
*
No.
600sq floor tiles should not expensive...around 150pcs(2x2). tiles cost should less than 2.5K.

I dont think lowyat member here will get > rm10/sq. so i break the record.

hey sifus, I got one question..

if the wall got window & door, will the contractor deduct the area of window + door in the workman ship? or they just calculate the gross wall area? hmm.gif
*
In my case, i just ask my contractor to calculate based on floor plan, example 25 x 25 = 625sf even it have a lot divider wall in each living, kitchen and dining area.
and wall also included the window + door....no much diff..don't want so calculate with them...important they do the best job.

SUPER CHEAP. 2.50/sf. drool.gif

Any 1 went to kepong tiles near the main road(after the CIMB)..the shop call "1 stop" 3 floor building.

I found their price is cheaper than super ceramic, and have many tiles to choose.

2x2 tiles 1st grade MML/china/vietnam ....price from 10.60-12.00.

QUOTE(Kelvin5717 @ Jun 25 2011, 11:27 PM)
Sorry guys need some advice over here..
I'll will need lots of tile i guess, for 3 bathroom 1 x 2 tiles up to ceiling and 1 x 1 tile for floor, 2 x 2 tile for living room of 380sqft, kitchen 1 x 2 or 2 x 2 tiles for 311 sqft..
1. would like to know what does Adhesive / Susu means ? what for ? where to buy ? or normally tiles already coated with it ?
2. Jln Ipoh is where all good tiles is ? which shop is recomended ?
3. does laying 2 x 2 tiles more expensive in terms of labour cost than smaller size ? (not sure kitchen wan to do 1 x 2 or 2 x 2)
4. what is the most suggest tile size for bathroom floor ? 1 x 1 ? or 1 x 2 ?
5. I'm looking for contractor to do labour, hacking, cement and sands.. the susu things i need to buy or it comes with the tiles ?
please advice me thanks  rclxms.gif
*
I also start look for tiles but i found many shop not much diff in term of price nowadays....important tiles sifu can help us save tiles waste = save $.

mine is 2x2 living, dining and kitchen around 600sf. kitchen wall 1x2 around 150sf. 1 bathroom and staircase.

1. my contractor never use adhesive/susu he have 30 years of experience and help ppl to lay 2x2 tiles on shopping mall...they have their way not to use it and it will save a lot money. it depend on the contractor, some contractor skills required it.
2. many ppl mention jalan ipoh super ceramic....but they are very busy to entertain customer. so i prefer find some shop can serve me full time and provide ideas.
3. my contractor charge me same price. per/sf.
4. size not important. you must know what color and design u like then you can decide the size later.
5. i think your contractor will buy all material(included susu) except tiles.

Thanks wrb7878, hahaha ya i forget the kitchen wall tiles lol  doh.gif actually my contractor old chinese guy i say susu / adhesive he also dun understand and ask me what it's for cox he dun understand malay / english so good.. cantonese i pulak tak tau  doh.gif  sigh..

what is ur price psft for 2 x 2 tiles ??
color i think living room is either white or beige color, kitchen prefer darker a bit but dunno what color to chose ? any suggestion ? bathroom will be black / grey not sure yet.. how bout yours ??

why ur contractor dun need susu ?? mind sharing ?? maybe my old uncle contractor also same like urs but i just want to confirm the use for this susu things  tongue.gif
*
For 2x2 living the beige color(popular demand) is almost same, just different in term of flower or plain design, and anti stain type. the price is 10.60 to 12.60 which is within my budget < 15.00

I don't have any ideas what tiles on kitchen wall, prefer white and shining type....then bathroom will mix black/white. china black tiles is very glossy look like mirror type...the tiles shop can help us on design later, he have a lot bathroom showroom at 2nd floor. and will show us his design for his past customer too. he just need us to tell him the concept and color...he can provide us the sample photo to decide

My contractor just tell me his skills no required the susu. maybe u can ask ur contractor what is different material to lay in term of 1x1 and 2x2.
Cos normally susu used on 2x2 only.

WOw, if they have the one which I want it be great. Thinking of going to check them out soon. Where exactly is it?
MML and whitehorse is differnet i think...  blink.gif

BTW, these prices are confirmed for Grade A tiles? 'Cos some shop sell Grade B as Grade A as well.
*
If from the jalan ipoh to kepong Jusco, after u passby the crystal crown hotel ...u will see CIMB shoplot on ur left....then u drive slow u can see the 3 storey building with shop name "1 stop xxxxx"

Yes, grade 1, he sell those grade 2 as well.
He suggest me if bathroom floor/wall tiles(if lay like 'T' pattern') can use grade 2. grade 2 material and quality is same as grade 1, maybe due to size a bit lari. The price is 50% different ...example grade 1, 1x2 = 8.50 while grade 2= <4.00.

He say normally a lot ppl use grade 2 on car posh, save a lot $$$.
in my case i may use grade 2 on balcony/yard(cos i will put pebble wash around the tiles), and then kitchen cabinet wall area(which will cover by cabinet).

I assume the tiles less than RM15 (for 2x2) are not porcelain tiles?  When I got mine, even my cheapest Niro Granite porcelain tiles is already about RM25 for 2x2.
*
Actually we not familiar what is porcelain, polished or anti stain...we just look on what we like....

That china tiles is very high gloss surface....so what is diff on porcelain and polished type?

he did sell those 2x2 tiles around 25-40...but if look on it...i wont feel any different. maybe material and quality that we cant see from our eye?

QUOTE(VKS286 @ Jun 28 2011, 12:00 PM)
Guys
Can I make the following conclusion?

Hack Tiles - RM1/sq ft

Install Tiles
Floor Tiles
2 X 2 - RM7/sq ft
1 X 2 - RM5/sq ft
1X 1 - RM3/sq ft

Wall Tiles
1 X 1 - RM3.50/sq ft
1 x 2 - RM5/sq ft

Please correct me if i'm wrong. This is taking into account that tiles are purchased on our own

*
Hack tiles = rm1/sf sound ok....some charge 2/sf..but most expensive is on dispossed rubbish. so if landed house they will charge a lump sum amount but if condo need to depend the condo situation.

My contractor charge me same price for all size of tiles. for him, floor and wall is same as well.

If condo, maybe less than 2K included disposed the rubbish.

My contractor charge me high due to disposed the rubbish is harder part, but recently i have found the indo worker can help me disposed the rubbish can cost much more cheaper. but is too late.

Normally chinese contractor charge around 6.50psf included hack and lay + all material.

QUOTE(kelho @ Aug 12 2011, 12:47 AM)
Hi, I need some advice on bathroom renovation.

I've been given a quotation:
"To dismantle and fix new tiles for 5 1/2 x 9' bathroom - RM4,100"
"To dismantle and fix new tiles for 112" x 51" bathroom - RM4,300"

I know, it's very vague right? I don't even know if this includes the price of the tiles, or am I too naive to think that it does? I'm totally clueless when it comes to this, so please bear with me. If I want to redo my wall and floor tiles, is it normal for the contractor to quote me ONLY the labour charges (hacking, cement, laying new tiles..), and is this RM4,100 and RM4,300 the labour charges, or do you think this includes the new tiles?

I got this quotation from the contractor through an ID (who emailed it to me), and I've not gotten a reply from her about my above queries yet. Just wanted to some advice from people who are well-versed in this.

I would also like to obtain some recommendations on good bathroom contractors from you guys who've been through this (and survived haha!).. I need another quotation to make a comparison with this one that I got. Or... how many quotations does one need actually huh? Please drop me a note. Thanks. - Kel.

Based on the statement : "To dismantle and fix new tiles for 5 1/2 x 9' bathroom - RM4,100"
It should not included the tiles. normally the contractor will mention ..."supply and install new tiles".

and your house is condo or landed? and bathroom height? How abt water proof?

Is 4,100 considered cheap? Wah then my one only cost RM1.3k, include hack and retile, change basin and toiletbowl, and do copper piping is like super cheap woh.. (prices not include materials)

Added on August 12, 2011, 5:29 pmby the way, got one contractor even better. He told me no need to do water proofing. I was like 'WHAT REALLY?'

he said if cement break means leak. water proof also no use. If cement no break, that means no leak. So water proofing is actually useless.

Professionals out there..is that right????
*
I got malay contractor quote me less than 1K for all abv u mention included water proof. but not dare to try! hehe

Hi WRB7878

Well, i'm extending the backyard to have bigger kitchen, hence i'll be getting new flooring, so the contractor just charge me for the labor cos i didn't want his package (1'x1' tile) of RM1960 covering 312 sqf.

For 2x2 tile for the floor from White Horse LOOS Series HD66002 or HD66004, last quoted was $29.80 per pc  hmm.gif excl 5% discount.

For 1x2 tile for wall from White Horse Alsenia Series H63625, last was $8.90 per pc excl 5% discount.
Do you know of anyone selling this with better discount? Perhaps i'll survey NIRO around Klang tomorrow
*
Now a lot diff tiles price. I got mine white house 2x2 10.50/pcs. grade 1 and anti stain. and 1x2 around rm7/pcs.
but also have >rm20/pcs...but from eye cant see the diff on quality...so just choose the color and design that i want.

Are you typo error kah?

"To dismantle and fix new tiles for 5 1/2 x 9' bathroom - RM4,100" , it means 5.5 * 9 = 49.5 / 4100 = RM82@sqf?
"To dismantle and fix new tiles for 112" x 51" bathroom - RM4,300", it means 9.3F (112") * 4.25F (51") =40 / 4300 = RM100@sqf?

You must be kidding with the price, if RM10@sqf it alreayd super high, your like SUPER SUPER high.

1) Are you start at Apartment or Landed  property?
2) is the toilet at 1st floor or Gnd floor ( if you stay at lander property)
3) Are you having any leaking at this point?
4) Your dismantle only floor tiles or wall tile inclusive?'
5) any other thing ? Basin / WC move?

Normal hacking on floor so far I been quote are RM 6.50 (excluding tiles and Susu). So either you provide wrong info, or you are a Big Water Fish...
*
Jo_da, he provided the floor plan for bathroom only. you forgot the wall area x 4.

let say wall height is 9' as well. total wall = 5.5x9x2 + 9x9x2 = 99 + 162 + floor 49.5 = 310.5/4100 = RM13++/sqf.

and normally contractor will top up cost for dismantle the WC, Basin, concrete table top.....
