I'm expecting my first baby in May rclxms.gif

I'm planning to fully breastfeed and follow proper 'pantang' (at least try tongue.gif)

Just want to ask opinions about post-natal sets, read that Amway Tropical Herbs supposed to be good, natural and complete.

Anybody have any opinions or experience with post-natal sets? Any recommendations? Thanx!

urrm...i didn't take any herbs...mine was all fresh cooked meals..and DOM.  As for the pantang part..didn't strictly follow..i bathed and all.

Kudos on your decision to breastfeed!

As for breastfeeding, I'd advised you to be prepared for a rough road.  Go for classes if possible and read up.  From my experience, to fully succeed, besides knowledge, you need to have determination.

I'm still breastfeeding my son for about 1.5yrs..and the first 4 months were the toughest.  There's a breastfeeding forum here..go read it and prepare on the hurdles that you may encounter (especially low milk supply).  Alternatively, join the FB group - The Breastfeeding Advocates Network.

Enjoy your last few months of holiday tongue.gif

i will be staying with my MIL after giving birth. she's a great cook so hopefully i will be well taken care of! biggrin.gif
i gained a substantial amount of weight (and still gaining!) so i'm hoping for some recommendations of post-natal supplements that can help me shed the weight and get back that 'anak dara' feeling brows.gif also something that promotes overall wellness...

As for BF-ing, i'm trying to stay positive. my main aim is to save money from buying all that formula, so hopefully i will stick to the plan, and hopefully my body and the baby will too! tongue.gif

Hello...

I just become a father in three months time.... Sure a bit fresh with this kind of stuff...

I am not sure if you are cina or Malay, but we Malay got our own sets of post-natal sets...

My wife are using Set Ubat Bersalin Afiat... that we bought at a nearby shop... It got everthing in there,... minyak.. bedak.. and also barut...

Also got my frens are using Set Bersalin Sendayu Tinggi....

Those two sets works wonders.... If you using the sets + follow all pantang, you can maintain your body just like you're still 'anak dara'.

My wife are using the Set Ubat Bersalin Afiat, when she got back to work... all frens are surprised she can maintain her body just like before married...

i am malay smile.gif
and yes, i am aware of the post natal sets...
i have heard of afiat, and sendayu tinggi, but i would prefer herbal health supplements rather than jamu...
badan saya mmg jenis 'panas', takut mkn jamu makin panas nnt tongue.gif
plus sendayu tinggi is too expensive for me shocking.gif

If you breastfeed, you may lose weight..of coz not straightaway.

I was 68kg before preggie, about 80kg during preggie and after 1.5yrs of bf..i'm about 60kg smile.gif.  These includes those sleepless nights too wink.gif.

Oh wow.
I hope I'm just as lucky rclxms.gif

Hmm... I personally won't take that route so that the baby won't wake up in the middle of the night for feeds. I believe that in their beginning years, their demands should be met.

ive heard of this.. u r supposed to do it only after baby is >6months and started taking solids so u know that baby isnt deprived of nutrition and food... and it worked  for some people but i find it so cruel, i rather wake up and feed my baby
*
yes, it does sound cruel, and i do hope i won't be too busy or too tired to take this route once maternity leave is over and i'm back to work... blush.gif

Hi all. The Amway post natal items are good as my wife has used it. It also comes with a girdle so it helps in the weight trimming.

Part of your regimen before birth is to also use creams like shea butter or products that help with your stretch marks. My wife uses Neways wrinkle guard.

BF is good all through and I have heard of ladies BFing kids up to age 6.

You can also use a breast pump to extract and keep them in the fridge so that it last longer.

Note for first time mothers who've had challenges in expressing milk - the breast becomes swollen and painful. To alleviate the pain temporarily, use white cabbage (the hard-ish one that has a leaf wide enough to cup the breast, not the other types) that has been cleaned and refrigerated. It helps to reduce the swelling but you will have to make every effort to express the milk, either by pump or your baby.

I know the cabbage solution sounds weird, but hey, it worked for us! smile.gif

All the best in parenthood!

Hi pubmut,

can you elaborate further on the post natal set since i am really interested in it...
does it help with producing milk, was there any side effects, etc?

For the first 6 months, do not consume any jamu or whatsoever akar things...

Its for the fresh breastfeeding...

But, one had claimed their jamu is not affected for the breastfeeding.. Its Nonaroguy..

Its up to you ...

In terms of producing milk, these are the pointers for first-timer:

1) Upon delivering, try to latch baby on as soon as you can.  However, pls bear in mind that milk usually comes in about 4 - 7 days upon delivering.  It may also vary to certain women.
2) Especially for the first 1-2 months, try only direct bf as milk has yet to establish.  From my experience, I pumped during the 1st month and exactly 1 month - i had no milk.
3) A friend told me to drink fennel seeds tea or fenugreek seeds tea.  Just boil the seeds and drink it religiously twice a day.  I tried this when i had no milk (no 2) and it worked.
4) demand = supply..hence the more demand, it will signal your body to produce more milk.
5) Forget the confinement rule that one shouldn't drink water - once when you breastfeed..you need to drink loads of liquid!  you'll automatically feel thirstier than normal.

As for the jamu part.. i have no idea as I don't take jamu.  However, please bear in mind that whatever you eat or drink ..it may affect your milk.  so be very careful.

Added on February 26, 2011, 11:47 amanother thing..to make bf successful, try not to give any bottle/nipple or pacifier as some babies may get nipple confusion and then they may not be able to suckle from your breast efficiently.

Thanx for all the feedback icon_rolleyes.gif

but i'm not really looking to lose weight fast or anything like that... I heard that it's good to take these post natal sets as it helps heal the body and so on... but slimming down the body is an added plus, i guess tongue.gif

If there's no real advantage to taking the supplements then I might just skip them. They're not cheap to begin with sweat.gif
