I think it's only the home screen with all the useless widgets that lags (as in almost every Android phone).

I bet most people here will install alternative home launchers or use the widely-praised Darky's ROM that will be ported from SGS. The main attraction is the hardware, the software can be fixed. smile.gif

It's not just the homescreen.

At 2:53, the guy tries to change the resolution of the camcorder recording. Took like 3 taps before the menu came up.

Added on February 24, 2011, 1:17 pmAnyhow, this looks like a repeat of the original SGS: awesome specs on paper. sad.gif

Yup, now that you mention it, that is pretty bad. Hope they fix it. Wished they'd remove their god-awful TouchWiz "enhancements".

it's not the touchwiz.. the problem lies deeper than the interface alone.. the file system.

it's too soon to speak. hopefully there will be other countries to get the device first. so we'll know the pros n cons.

and although i'm a frequent visitor of xda, i'm not keen on depending heavily on developers alone.

their solution is to migrate filesystem to ext4 and the device works flawlessly after that.

Yup. Darky's ROM allows you to convert Samsung's RFS file system to ext4. And yes, it does provide speed gains.

I wonder, if independent developers can fix it, why can't Samsung?

For video enthusuasiasts

Great news for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S2 owners! It has been confirmed that these 2 devices will get the TwinView technology or the ability to stream TV contents. Plus it offers the dual-screen streaming functionality via Samsung remote which is its second TV Smart Touch TV remote. This big plus technology would be available for those who bought the D8000 or D7000 range of televisions. These information were announced at CES 2011.

At the Mobile World Congress during the launching of their Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung also gave some indications that this technology will also be made available to other devices. Russell Owens, General Manager at CTV & AV marketing, said that the service will be only for just the two mentioned devices as for now. He said “At the moment, from a technology point of view, we can confirm that it will be for the Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy S2. The Android app should be out in March and it will offer the same functionality as the upcoming Second TV remote.”

A nice feature of this app is that it allows you to show two screens/TV channels on a Samsung mobile device. Mr. Owen added that there was a slight delay on the availability of the Smart Touch Control TV remote, which was initially decided to go with the D8000 series. It will now be as a bundled accessory after D8000 is launched.
