I prefer the away jersey as well, might head out to purchase it. But I wouldn't call the home jersey ugly, the Barca colors will never be ugly for me!

I think it will be hard for anyone to play as simple and effective as Xavi. I think Thiago will add another threat to the squad, but I do not think they are the same style player.
