I know there is a lot of thread about HDMI cable PQ & AQ different!!

BUT, now 1.4 version - is add in Enthernet, Audio Return and 3D, but as I know, HDMI 1.3 also able to watch 3D movies, and also dunno what is Audio return for...

So any SIFU or for those already do some comparison within Premium (expensive) HDMI cable 1.3 vs (normal)1.3 vs 1.4 (premium) vs 1.4 (normal), please give some advice here..

Thank You

no much differences compare with normal & premium for normal setup...

unless used high-end equipments and may worry the bottleneck or distortion, then go for premium cables...

I am not a sifu but from information from the net I did a small summary on HDMI cable in this post in my HD Blog. Not sure if it answers your question.

Hdmi cable all yield same quality pictures and audio. Only difference between chap and expensive cables is built quality. The difference between v1.3 vs v1.4 is features.

Unless you are going for long distances (more than 3m), there's no difference between normal or premium HDMI cables.

There's a difference in terms of hardware when it comes to HDMI 1.3 and 1.4 due to extra features like ethernet, audio return channel etc. 1.3 HDMI cables are able to support all 1.4 features atm except for HEC (Hdmi Ethernet Channel). Unless you're using the extra feature in 1.4, there's no difference in cables. You can easily use a HDMI 1.0 cable and utilize HDMI 1.4 features.

I don't think the usage of HDMI 1.4 is that widespread yet.

I did a blogspot about hdmi cables at my well, not maintained-anymore blog. You can take a read at http://hongaun.blogspot.com/2009/09/are-ex...s-worth-it.html

Pretty much you have bad luck on ur side sweat.gif . Monster cables definitely no problem as they are professional grade and for industrial use. That's why their cables are so freaking expensive.

I'm using less than RM20 cliptec HDMI cables (1.5m), no problem for me so far. I will nvr go more than 2m for cheapo cables though. If I need longer ones, monster is definitely on my list thumbup.gif

HDMI 1.3 can also do 3D but with reduced resolution, like astro byond which is a HDMI 1.3 device, can output 3D with dual 540i images, of cause 3D capable HDTV is required to decode 3D signal

1080p 3D absolutely need HDMI 1.4 spec devices

Thanks for all advice..

As I agree, HDMI cable is deliver the DIGITAL signal, so that is no different within PQ & AQ, BUT, how about SPEED??

my friend just bought a LG LED 47'' TV LX6500, if swicth on the Motion Noise Reduction, the picture will reduces Gaussian noise and sharp but blurring motion... after he change the fast HDMI 1.3v cable , the blurring motion was reduce.. but the PQ & AQ is same..

Anyone have same experince on it?

The different is bandwidth. HDMI 1.4 support more bandwidth than 1.3

chengkl8: You need a hdmi cable which is reliable which is able to transfer 1 and 0 from point to point regardless its cheapo or branded. Of course branded cables will have higher point of reliability. Like what minimize say, 1.4 has higher spec and bandwidth compared to 1.3 as 1.4 has a lot more of stuff to transfer over.

For HDMI 1.3 cables onwards, do note that there are 2 different category cables out there.
Category 1 (Standard) - tested up to resolution from 720p and 1080i
Category 2 (High Speed) - tested up to resolution from 1080p to 2160p

There's a big price jump from category 1 to category 2, so be sure if you are ever going to buy hdmi 1.3 cable, confirm that you are getting the correct one. For your case I guess you'll need the cat-2 cables (most cat 1 cables are able to perform up to cat 2 standard at short distances, say less than 2m).

minimize :I saw that you replied in the htpc thread, any solutions for my problem there? sad.gif

you will definitely need a cat 2 high speed cable to play 1080p 3D, your old cable probably is of cat 2 type already, so for your 3D BD in 1080p, it will simply just play LOL

HDMI cable are now classifed by its speed type + function, they are no longer called by the HDMI specs, HDMI spec versions label are more appropriate to put on devices such as HDTVs and players

Cat 1 and Cat 2 cables are defined during the time for HDMI 1.3 cables. Some old cables might still follow these labels.

The more updated ratings and labels as neb described are only defined when HDMI 1.4 came about.

Curse the konsortium for making things so complicated tongue.gif

Like sony said that we can use PS3 with HDMI 1.3 to get 3D. So why need 1.4?
