Dear all,

I hope this is the right place to post this thread. My Turtle Wax super hard shell wax is going to finish soon and I'm looking around for a new wax. Seriously, I'm not a fan of removing the wax because of the dust. If not careful, the dust will stick everywhere and it's quick tricky to remove.

From the above, you all can tell that I'm no pro-detailer
I came across this Turtle Wax Ice Liquid polish in the supermarket. I was a little moved by their advertisement. If that product works as advertised, it's the perfect product for me.

My question is, this ICE liquid polish is a wax or polish? I know the bottle is 'liquid polish' but the advertisement said "stop waxing and start icing". Besides, there is a side by side comparison between the liquid polish and a conventional wax. I thought that if it is a polish, then why compare with wax? it should be compared with another polish.
Lastly, I also read from their website that the polish contains wax.

So I'm a little confused. If i use this product, do i have to wax the car? or is it two in 1? If it is a polish, then I need to buy another wax so it may not be worthwhile.
Also, Turtle Wax ICE doesn't have any 'wax'.

Please enlighten.

im using meg gold class paste & its good and simple to use with your hand. the reflection is fair & smooth also make sure wash car with meg gold class wash . dont go to cuci kereta tepi jalan as it can damage your wax & car.

That's pretty normal. When you ask somebody which taste better, red or white wine and they'd answer that beer taste best.

To answer your question, Turtle themselves call it a liquid wax. It's just the name polish confuses everybody. Polish in english terms means to smoothen and brighten or to make glossy but in car detailing most the time 'polish' means 'abrasive rubbing'. So it is a wax and not an abrasive polish.

hahah you have a good point but in my thread, I don't think i was asking that kind of question. My question was, is Ice Liquid polish a wax or polish and along that line.

To answer your question, the only reason I can think of is that, I'm stupid and/or not smart enough.
I guess it's due to the fact that 'wax' and 'polish' are used interchangeably to describe the product. So I'm not sure which is which since from my limited understanding, wax and polish are both different.

Anyway, please correct me if i'm wrong.

It's a synthetic wax

there's 2 types of polish which detailer commonly uses:
1) abrasive
2) non-abrasive

abrasive polish - for paint correcting purposes (eg. Meguiars Ultimate Compound)

non-abrasive polish - this is normally done after u corrected ur paint.. its to hide slight imperfections of the paint.. and also improved the looks.. however, pls rmb to apply a layer of wax or sealent as polish doesnt last long.. (eg: Meguiars #7)

however, some manufacturer tends to confuse these terminology as they try to market the term that mass consumer knows..

I had the same problem. Most state their product as wax. Soft99 is wax but works like a polish since it has abrasives. I got a Nu Once a Year Polish which is say is polish but work like a wax and totally don't help in polishing.

the soft99 u stated is silver bottle meta clean right? if yes, thats a cleaner/wax hybrid.. or more commonly knowns as AIO (all in one)...

abrasive polish is those which can 'makan' ur paint... or known as paint compounding..

i just bought the turtle wax ICE interior care and liquid polish. Also got their F21 rim cleaner.
wanted to buy the ICE rim cleaner but not available at the parkson near my place.

i'm going to finish my current car shampoo before i go for the ice shampoo (depending on whether ice live up to its price)

so rich use ICE range product ^^,

to be really honest with you, i'm really not rich. I'm just giving the best i can for my car because I love my car a lot.
ICE products are seriously pricey. I'm not sure if the shampoo worth it or not. With that price, I could get a Meguairs NXT car wash

I'm just a noob detailer, if the ICE liquid polish works like advertised, i don't mind paying the price.

actually if u compare back.. some of the TW's products are seriously overpriced.

but some Meguiar's products are not up to the expectation either.. there are others u can try.. Like Osren, support malaysia company!

me trying smartwax now.. bought the smartwax, dressing, and claykit.. price wise during this "promo" season also looks good.. actually not too sure whats the real price since noone else is selling it elsewhere.. made in usa too so prolly i guess they're quite good, or at least above average?

previously was using megs goldclass carnauba wax.. dun really like the powdery bits when buffing it off with cloth..

my views for smartwax - so far so good... ultimateshine.com.my is having some promo, not sure until when.. price also looks good, infact cheaper than turtle wax.

oh ya.. there are Mothers and Optimum too in Malaysia which is available online.

I used Turtle Wax today and I am seriously got blown away by its result. I absolutely love its ease of use. It takes almost no effort to put it on and remove it. Now my car has a nice shine though I'm not sure how long it'll last. I'll keep a close watch.

After this, it's time to buy the TW ICE spray detailer and Clay kit.
I think i'll stick with TW ICE
