Do you like reading books in general?

Most people who find the Bible boring or can't stand reading it too long are those who don't like reading books anyway. 

Maybe you can listen to audio recordings of the Bible, or you can watch a movie (try looking up Gospel of John on Youtube).

First Step: Open your bible

Second Step: Pray to God to open your spiritual eyes and ears as you read His Words.

Third Step: If you feel sleepy, pray that Satan leaves you alone causing you to be sleepy, please make sure you are energize yourself, best to read the bible in the morning when you are fresh awake rather than 11 pm at night where you are about to retire to bed.

Fourth Step: Pray with all your heart on what you are about to read for God's revelation and his Wisdom to understand what is from the SPIRIT.

Fifth Step: Ask God to give you the DESIRE & THE HUNGER to love HIM and only HIM only. When you love a girl, you would go all out to get to know that person and talk to her more often. You can do that with Jesus because he is your Friend, your God, your King, your Saviour, your Redeemer, your High Priest.

For those who find reading difficult, Don't try and read the whole book in a go.

Rushing through just to complete the Bible may not benefit you.

There are many revelations in even a few sentences.

Go Few Paragraph by Paragraph.

Maybe read only2-4 lines of sentences.

One of my Pastors taught me, The right way to have revelation is to digest every few words you read.

You cannot digest the entire Book in one go. It's almost impossible.

This means even 1 sentence, the moment it speaks to you, meditate on it.

Even 1 sentence is powerful enough to change your life.

My Suggestion is, go sentence by sentences then stop for the day.

Summary

1. 1 Day read couple of sentence. Few in the morning, Few in the Night.
2. As what fghvbn mentioned, pray before you read. Ask God to help you to understand every words you read in the Bible.

Prayer does not work based on any kind of feeling. 

It's simply believing God to do the things you asked in prayer.
