Maybe they're just using metaphor for

1 Corinthians 9:24.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

the excellence of LOVE

QUOTE
4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 [b]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [c]prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I [d]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror [e]dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the [f]greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-13 NASB

QUOTE
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Hello guys need help.

What is the main different between Christian and catholic?

Just for my knowledge. Pastor ask this question and i don't know how to answer also.
*
Hi OlgaC4,

There isn't any different. Catholic is one of the main denominations of Christians. When Christianity was first created by Jesus Christ, all Christians are Catholic. Thereafter, there has been deviation into Anglican and many other denominations.

Catholic believe in one God which is Jesus Christ and regard Mother Marry as the mother of God where Jesus is the fruit of the womb of Marry. Hence, you will find Mother Mary statue in every Catholic Church. While in Anglican church, you may not see it.

Catholic church is under the management of Roman Pope and Bishop. While Anglican church is not. Hence, some rules and teachings are quite significantly different.

Catholic priest is not allow to get married which Anglican Pastor is allow to get married and have kids.

no actually it's very good for people who don't have time to digest long devotions.

just that I need to read something more comprehensive. tats why I stop it n also because $$ at that time.

even if you feel uncomfortable with "misunderstood" teachings in it, you can always refer back to the bible.

most of the story in there are relevant imo, only it's too short for me.

ha, i like this. it talks about the gospel of Jesus grace.

Bible Verses
Luke 2:40 And the little child [Jesus] grew and became strong, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him.
Col. 2:3 In whom [Christ] all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.

Words of Ministry
Verse 40 says that as the Man-Savior was growing, He was being filled with wisdom. This wisdom, which came from the Savior's deity, was revealed in proportion to the measure of His bodily growth. Verse 40 also tells us that the grace of God was upon Him. As a Man, even Jesus needed the grace of God for His human life. He was filled with wisdom from His deity, and He needed the grace of God for His humanity. As God, the Man-Savior did not need grace. However, as a Man He needed the grace of God. Therefore, we are told in verse 40 that the grace of God was upon Him.

As human beings, we all need God's wisdom and grace. Wisdom is related to the way of doing things, and grace, to the power, the ability, to carry out those things. In our living we first need the way to do a particular thing; then we need the power to do it. Wisdom is the way, and grace is the power. We need wisdom in order to have the proper way. However, wisdom itself is not enough. We also need grace. If we do not have grace, we shall not have the power, strength, or energy to carry out a certain matter in the proper way. But we may have God's wisdom for our way and God's grace for our power, strength, and energy. The Man Jesus lived in God's wisdom and grace.

Actually God can.

There's a misconception there about this.

if you read up Pehkay's devotion, he mentioned, God can remove his hand of grace to let us fall on purpose.

Do you know why?

So that you start looking to God for strength instead of being self confidence of your own ability.

This is very important and I hope all my friends in this thread take note, the moment things like this happens, straight away come to God

and relieve yourself of all your own abilities. Start Praying that you need to trust and rest in God more than before.

Sometimes crying out and simple prayer like, " God Help me, permit me to have a fresh revelation of the cross" is all you need.

Because the moment you start depending on God totally in spirit and in truth, He will come in and carry you and deliver his answer to your prayer.

When you say I can, God will probably let you go on your own

but When you say I cannot, God will say I can now come in and help you.
2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
*
I am not relying on my own abilities.

But crying out and praying but not doing anything about it after that, is a travesty, you know. I've seen a lot of christians do that.

After praying for direction, I realise this is the way I should go for.

2 Corinthians 12:9 applies when you are in a situation that you can't do anything about it due to your suffering in pain such as a handicap or something bad happen to you.

However my situation is different, I've got the divine solution in my head and I am heading towards what god is guiding me to do.

This is your divine solution from God, as in below what you've said?

This is why I don't count church mates to help me anymore....I am better off going out with non-christians or christians who backslided.

lol, up to you brother.

Praying and trusting God while you continue doing your daily work and not worrying about your circumstances IS DOING something in the eyes of God. Not worrying IS pointing your Gun shooting the Bullet at the Devil, spiritually speaking. God will work when you have submissive trust in Him.

And the Fact that your leaders or pastors who preached this same message but found their wife and even having Children is not a sign of hypocrisy.
It's a sign to tell you that God blessed and answered them and you should really learn from them how to obtain the same favour. God is a respector of no one, if He can do it for your Church Leader/Pastor, He can do it for you too.

You should see it that way instead of figuring out in your head, they did it on their own, ie to go all out to find their wife to be in their own way.
That is so disrespectful and scornful if I may add.

Yes it's nothing wrong to go out and look for a partner after prayer, I've already said it should be that way. But don't complain when things doesn't work out, pointing finger to Church bureaucracy, Or Church Girls look down on you, Church people not very supportive of you.

Why don't you stop and think for a moment, why this is happening. Perhaps God is speaking to you, you're doing it not according to his will of quiet trust.

btw 2 Corinthians 12:9 talks about total submission to God in our weaknesses. It's not talking about medical condition.

Shalom brother.

How to increase Faith.

QUOTE
Luke 17:5
The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!

In the book of Luke, when the apostle asked Jesus how to increase their Faith, I think the first thing a lot of people
would think is to conjure up more Faith in them. To gather more Faith in oneself is equivalent to increasing Faith. But that's not what our Lord said.

He said, If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

Jesus is saying in essence, if you want your Faith to increase, it's not about conjuring Faith in oneself but to issues command to your circumstances.

It's not always about quoting verses or prayer, though of course they are applicable but in this instance, Jesus teaches us to command.

Based on this scripture verse, we are to issue commands to our natural circumstances to change.

For example, if you have a health condition? Command it to be uprooted by it's root and be planted in the sea. Amen.

if you have financial situation, command your debts to be uprooted by it's root and be planted in the sea in Jesus Name.

I believe the reason Why the Holy Spirit mentioned to be up rooted by your roots is because when roots are remove, the whole symptoms are absolved.

God does not want Half Solutions to our problem. He wants total solutions and wholeness. Amen.

I remember a sister once asked me, how to increase Faith?

Well here is your answer. Start commanding!

Well you may say, but I have no Faith!

Sister, you just need a mustard seed Faith. It's very Small but it's enough for God to work powerfully in your commands!

Command it and believe it and you shall have it in Jesus Name.

Hope this helps you.

God Bless.
