God is not nearly as concern that you threat people right with love rather than observing law to appear religious.

It's also important to make sure that whatever you do does not cause a weaker brother/sister to stumble/fall when they see what you're doing.

If it is not God's desire that you should have a tattoo or not then don't put on a tattoo.

Added on April 10, 2012, 2:10 pmI also think that, yes although we now live by Grace but God did not abolish the law in the new testament, He came to fulfil it.

Matthew 5:17
New International Version (©1984)
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

You can't say "oh we live by grace now, we can ignore the law of GRAVITY", we can try jumping down from buildings now since we are not under the law. That's wrong, the LAW still applies. It's there to guide us
*
Yes He came to fulfil them but by summarising ALL the law into 1 single Law.

QUOTE
Galations 5:14

The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

If you insist to follow all the old law of the testament, there are many which you cannot break including working on a Sabbath day.

Don't you understand why Jesus purposely broke the Sabbath by Healing the lame Man? smile.gif

And the religious Authorities tried to kill him?

You cannot choose both, either you live under grace or under law.

Under Law you will be judged according to each and every of your actions, you break one, you are as good as breaking all of them and come to condemnation.

QUOTE
James 2:10
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

All of God's Blessing and Promises cannot come to those who live by the Law.

Thanks Peh Kay, for the explanation of Old Law of the Testament.

Continuing...

fghvbn, actually there's 1 more part of the which is the most important. One of the Pharisee, an experts of the law Asked Jesus this question:

QUOTE
Matthew 22:36-40

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:
2.‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

It's funny how out of the numerous OT laws, Jesus have shrunk all into just 2 laws in the New Covenant. Think about it. Why?
The irony is, Jesus was the one who gave the Old Testament Law (Mark 2:28).

Why would God change his own laws that is meant to be a platform guidance for all? We all know that God does not goes back on his own words.
One thing I like about God is that whenever He wants to reveal something to you, He'll do it step by step.

The reason for this change is because

1. God wants Man to know it's is impossible to reach God by self effort. (James 2:10)
2. God wants Man to know that we need Jesus as the purpose of the Law is to reveal Sin (Romans 3:20-24)

Read the Bible quoted scripture and you will know this is the truth.

I quite Sad that Many Christians are still trying to reach God via the Laws of the commandment when one of the reason Jesus came is to set us free from the condemnation of the law.

If there's anything else you need explanation, just hollar.

God Bless.

The power of Christianity

QUOTE
1 Corinthians 16:14

Do everything in love.

I've learned throughout my life, God is not as nearly concern that we follow all the religious rituals or commandments just to be appear religious but to walk in Love which is the, I repeat THE VERY key factor of a christian.

Walking in Love is the central of Christianity and it becomes the testimony of our power over all the religions in this world.

There are times I find that God has withheld his blessings because I've not done the very thing He commanded, Love.

From the previous couple of pages, Christians are concern whether we are following to do this right or to do that wrong. So many commandments to follow.

But Jesus beautifully shrunk ALL the commandments of the Law into just 2. And whatever you do as a Christian, you can safely measure the "whatever" against this 2 commandments to know you're doing the right thing.

1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

1. Basically means to seek God earnestly, spend time with him. Have no other idols that occupy your heart where the rightful place belongs to God. Idols can cover in a variety of sense, can be the lust of the flesh, religion, anything that takes away your devotion to God.

2. Means whatever you do, make sure you don't hurt anyone but the opposite, the build them up in love. The full sense of Love can be found in the Bible, where the scripture says Love is kind, is unselfish, etc.

So remember to walk in Love as a Christian, it will set you free from all bondage.

God Bless.

When you sin, you will be prompted by the Spirit. You must ask for forgiveness and repent.

The word REPENT means that now you know that this is a sin, ask God to help you to stop to sin in this area.

It can be pornography, ask God to cleanse you from this area. Watch no more pornography, you know that Satan will tempt you to watch it.

If you know that you can't resist your computer to turn on Pornography website, just DELETE all your pornography and BLOCK all the websites that you visit often and lock the file. Best is, close your eyes and put in the password that locks it and you'll never access it any more.

This is what I've done so far OF THIS EXTREME to hinder from sexual sins.
*
That's one way.

Another way is to ask God to supernaturally remove that desire.

May not be everyone's cup of Tea to ask this but by his unmerited Grace, God can.

Pray everyday about this.

Ask Seek & Knock.

Patrick, you're asking Why God allow bad things to happen to Christians right?
You must remember we have a common Enemy, Satan.

The bad things that happens in this world are the result of the power of Sin and attacks of the enemy. As you said, like rape, murder, etc.

Earlier I've done a devotion that our Enemy attacks Christian more aggressively compare to Non Believers. And Why Us and Not them?
QUOTE
Luke 22:31
Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat

This verse tells us, Satan is more concern on Christians.
Because for one, we are born again. Christian who are mature spiritually are dangerous to the devil and his kingdom.
We cause damage by advancing the Kingdom of God and cause a decline to theirs.

What about Non believers?
Non Believers are already dead spiritually and lost, so the enemy don't really need to focus so much on them. Maybe they'll just keep maintain them in being lost through the world's system like pornography, lust, new age teaching, religion, etc.

That is why. smile.gif

The enemy can only attack you when you are ignorant of who God is and his words in the Bible. Understand that God is not the one who tempt anyone with Evil situation.
QUOTE
(James 1:13)
When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

At time God allow situation that causes death to Christian. But Honestly, if you're a Christian, I don't see why should anyone feel sad about Death, because for Christian Death is actually a way into victory of Eternal Life in Heaven where there is no more tears but joy. So there's really nothing bad as you can see it from this point of view.

I believe it's important for new Christians are still in babies stage to be familiar with the Bible ASAP. Do you know why?
The Bible is the sword of the spirit, God's Weapon, the only thing that defeats the enemy.

Every Child of God has this promise.

QUOTE
Romans 8:31

If God is for us, who can be against us?

QUOTE
Romans 8:28

And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him

There are many more verses.

If there's any Christian who are in a helpless or dire situation, First know your Bible verses and God's promises to protect you and deliver you out.

Fact of the matter is, Know that in every situation, you already have victories.

God Bless.

Now I wanna learn but where should I start? Read the whole bible?

Start with the New Testament. The most popular is the Book of John. Personally I prefer the Book of Luke.

hang in there.

One thing I learn being a human being while still stuck in this world.

God wants to build us up so that we can be a blessing for others.

I know some of you may think you're so messed up how can you be a blessing for others.

Know this, nothing is impossible for God.

I have food to eat that you know nothing about

The first time Jesus ever hinted about another type of food is in the temptation of 40 days by Satan.

QUOTE
Matthew 4:4

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Let us established that We all need food to sustain our body. It is our source of energy. Without Food we will die of malnutrition. That's a physical Fact.

And here we have our Lord Jesus literally talking about another type of sustenance Food which I believe without eating or drinking of it, we will be malnutrition of the spiritual man. That is a spiritual Fact and Jesus wasn't speaking figuratively.

Jesus was sustained by God's word despite the undeniable physical hunger. I believe Jesus is teaching us something here.

In another instance, where Jesus talk with a Samaritan Woman,

The Bible says Jesus was tired from the journey and sat at the well.

QUOTE
John 4:4-6
Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

Jesus asked that woman for a drink and to cut the story short we know in the scripture, Jesus was ministering to her about Him being the Living Water of Eternal Life. When his disciple came back to offer him Food, here Jesus mentioned again.

QUOTE
John 4:27-32

Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”

But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”

Why would Jesus says something like that, not unless He has already partaken some sort of Food while Ministering to the Samaritan Woman and The Woman Partake in return. He must have been invigorated after this.

One more instance where the crowd of people gathered around Jesus after the feeding of the 5000 multitude. Here Jesus explains He is the Bread of Eternal Life and He spoke about Eating his Flesh and Drinking His Blood.

QUOTE
John 6:53-56
Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

So we see that Jesus constantly tells us we need this type of Food. But question remain How does Christian partake of this food? The popular answer would be to feed on the word of God. That is partially correct.

Here we have Jesus beautifully giving us the revelation of how.

QUOTE
John 6:36
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
Food and Drink.

1. Daily come to Jesus and spend time with him in prayer and quiet time. That is your Food.
2. Believe in Him, Believe in God's word. That is your Drink.

Daily and consistence practices of these 2 will accelerate your spiritual Inner Man.

I hope this helps.

God Bless.

Yup. The Bible is a book on eating ... nom nom nom biggrin.gif

After God created man, God did not say that man needed life or salvation. Neither did He say that man needed to love and obey God. Nor did He say that man needed to be humble or to be peaceable. After God created man, He put man in a garden, and He placed man before the tree of life, telling him in effect, "Eat! Eat! Eat!"

Finally, at the end of Revelation you see the New Jerusalem with a river of water and the tree of life growing on both sides of the river. There is a verse in the last chapter of Revelation that says, "Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have right to the tree of life" (v. 14). Therefore, we see that eating and drinking the Lord is our destiny. This is God's ordination. If you do anything else or have any other choice, you will find death. God's ordination is our destiny. We should not have our own choice.
*
Hi Pehkay,

I can't imagine how beautiful our New Jerusalem will be.

Indeed The Lord is our sustenance.

Over the mountains reaching high
The same majesty floods my life
I stand in awe

Lovely, there is none more lovely
In all the universe, there is no one lovelier
Worthy, there is none more worthy
I try to find the words, there's so much more Your worthy of

Up on the cross with open arms
The love of God reaches far
The same majesty floods my heart
I stand in awe

As long as I live, I'll praise You
Name above all, be lifted high
All of my days, I worship You
I worship You

Lovely, You are lovely
There is no one, there is no one more worthy
You are worthy

There is no question but that alcohol is one of the foremost factors in the destruction of the society, the family, human lives, and many other precious things. Alcohol kills, maims, and destroys the lives of millions of people yearly around the world. It is odd, then, that so many people, including those whose lives have been ruined by alcohol, still work hard to support alcohol. The Bible has much to say about alcohol, and Christians should be familiar with God's truth on drinking.

The effect of alcohol is a problem.

Problem to others and to yourself.

Sin occurs when by what you do, effect others and yourself.

When you accept God, your body automatically becomes the Temple of the Most High God.

So what do you think?

QUOTE(Jesus My Saviour @ Apr 13 2012, 03:42 PM)
Some people choose to totally abstain from alcohol, and the Scriptures don't say that they should start.

Some other people should totally abstain from alcohol, or remain totally abstinent from alcohol, because the Scriptures make plain why excessive alcohol consumption (i.e. "alcoholism") is very damaging, not just for the individual who can't control their behavior, but for their families and society as a whole who are hurt by them.

Still other people do drink, very moderately, and the Scriptures say that it's not wrong.

There is no one answer to the question "Is drinking alcohol a sin?" - for some people, in some ways, it is a sin, for others, in other ways, it's not a sin.

John the Baptist did not drink alcohol; Jesus Christ did drink alcohol in moderation (as explained further below, getting drunk is a sin, but Jesus Christ never sinned - therefore Jesus drank, but never got drunk) - and both were criticized for it, either way:

"For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!" (Luke 7:33-34 KJV)
Those who use the term "demon alcohol," or terms like it, may wish to reconsider how they express it when it comes to Christianity. Jesus Christ did consume alcohol, but was absolutely spiritually pure - He warned about blaspheming the Holy Spirit in any way:

"And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come" (Matthew 12:32 KJV)
Alcohol consumption becomes a sin when it corrupts righteous thought or behavior, harms health, or violates any civil law:

"Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine" (Proverbs 23:29-30 KJV)
"Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty" (Proverbs 23:20-21 KJV)

"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess" (Ephesians 5:18 KJV)
