Very Rare for someone to die for a another.

Mahatma Gandhi led a revolutionary non violent protest against the British Occupation to liberate India. His legacy is remembered throughout history.
His death was revered nationwide. Being a good man that he is, his death like so many other famous good people of this world could do nothing to pay off the judgement against the sins of other. His death is unto his own and He'll definitely need to answer for his own life's action.

Every part of the world, whether it's tribal law or state law, justice demands that all crimes are vindicated through some form of punishment or sentences. On the extreme end, heavy crime required death sentences as punishment.

Criminals caught are trialled in judicial court of law and sentences are carried out by the judge in authority. These are but man created human laws which are imperfect and really depends on situations and changes as time goes.

God's justice is not of this world and the perfect requirement for punishment for sin is death. The Bible tells us that we have all sinned; we have all committed evil acts

QUOTE
(Romans 3:10-18).

There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good, not even one.” “Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.” “The poison of vipers is on their lips.”“Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
“Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

As a result of our sin, we deserve God's anger and judgement. The only just punishment for sins is an infinite punishment.

QUOTE
(Romans 6:23)
For the wages of sin is death

QUOTE
(Revelation 20:11-15).
The Dead Are Judged

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

We were given enough time to try for ourselves to atone our own sin through our own effort for salvation since Genesis. That's why the 10 commandments were given.

Thou Shall Not...
Thou Shall Not...

The best of Old testament had Moses, Elijah, Solomon, etc even David, a Man after God's own heart failed to adhere God's commandment perfectly.

Why then did God hand out the 10 commandments if He already knew? In his grace and patience, it's not for Him to know but so that we would know after so many generations, ages and time, we cannot.

God moves in the rhythm of time and in progression to reveal step by step a way out.

Understand that God is a God of Justice, whatever He says, he does not go back on his words to reverse out. When he decree the punishment for Sin is death, there must be punishment. no exception.

We all know about Jesus on the cross.

All of God's indignation, His Wrath fell upon Jesus, stroke after stroke of punishment were lashed out on his body. It was a ghastly sight, after watching The Passion of Christ, one can only imagine how is it like on that day, the torture tool used by the soldiers.

After reading the passage, Romans 5:6-8 below, now I truly understand and appreciate the undeserving act of His divine death.

QUOTE
Romans 5:6-8

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us
.

I pray to the Father that so should all of you. Remember his death which He died out of love for you during Good Friday and this coming Sunday Easter. And remember to rejoice in victory in His resurrection.

God Bless.

QUOTE(fghvbn @ Apr 6 2012, 11:43 AM)
Hey I got a question here
1 Corinthians 5:11
"But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person."

So this chapter basically talks about paul telling the corinthian about sexual immorality. Then he goes saying the verse above.

But I thought we should eat with sinners but why is Paul saying otherwise ya ?

I know he's trying to tell corinthian not to talk or eat with another so called "Brother/Sister" who has commited adultery/incest
*
The word, Not to associate means not to be connected in brotherhood friendship sense because it involves spiritual oneness.
Sharing your faith with sinners is different thing. You can sit with them, talk with them but you do not abide to their culture.

Think like this, when you constantly have fellowship in a crowd of people who of Faith, your faith will rise up because of the contagious influence, When you're in a crowd who are constantly negative all the time, it will effect your well being as well.

It doesn't mean you should be proud and distance yourself.

I hope this helps.

QUOTE(fghvbn @ Apr 6 2012, 12:10 PM)
1 Corinthian 7:

12 To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

15 But if the unbeliever leaves, let it be so. The brother or the sister is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.16 How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
*
This only apply for people who are already Married. Not for people who are yet to be married.

Your existence means God approve you

QUOTE
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you

In Genesis 1,

The scripture explains God's creation of Heaven and Earth, Every Living creature and finally Man and woman.

God saw all that he had made, and the bible explicitly mentioned, "And God saw that it was good" every step of the way.

If God say It's good to him, It's means he approve it.

The meaning of approve, to speak or think favorably of.

That include you and I.

Dear Brother and Sisters,

If God approve you to be here today, it means that you have a great destiny in your Life with God.

What I'm saying, all the material providence, the blessings, the victory is already stored up just for you.

Go through the Bible and you'll see God equipping you with all powerful declaration verses that is meant to bring you up in Life.

If it isn't so, God would not say it. But Good news brothers/sisters. He approve you!

God Bless!

really? so far paul no expressly telling that it only refer to people who are yet to be married o. neither do paul imply that also. it would be controversial if u say that only refer to  those "who are already married"

definitely there're pros and cons here, if spouse is not believer, chances it would become believer or in other hand, the believer would be influence and drift away from christianity.

Read the scripture.

QUOTE
1 Corinthian 7:12

To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife
That means you're already married. The word wife itself means already married otherwise the scripture could have use, woman to be given in marriage.

It didn't say,

if any brother is going to have a wife or given in marriage.

That is why there are 2 parts in the scripture that talks about,

2 Corinthians 6:14: Do not be unequally yoke with unbelievers and this verse.

One for before Marriage (2 Corinthians 6:14:) and One for after Marriage. (2 Corinthians 6:14)

Could be. Either the brother is newly converted or already converted long ago but the point remains that both of them were unbelievers before one of them come to know the Lord.

Nah no worried, we are all here to share in fellowship as the body of Christ. You are still my brother in Christ, irregardless.

QUOTE(pehkay @ Apr 6 2012, 01:27 PM)
Yeah, the gospel is for everyone. But here, it is referring to a brother in the church. To note that, Paul does not simply deal with a certain sin; he deals with the person who lives in that kind of sin. There is an important distinction here. For example, to commit fornication is different from being a fornicator, one who lives in that sin and remains in it. A fornicator is not merely one who commits fornication as David did in the Old Testament; he is a person who lives in that sin. That sin becomes his living. Thus, such a person becomes a fornicator. In this chapter Paul is dealing with the person, not merely with the sin. This means that he is not simply removing sin from the church; he is judging and removing a sinful person. Suppose, due to weakness, a brother commits a particular sin. We should help him to repent, to forsake that sin, and to return to the Lord. If he is willing to do this and if he brings forth the fruit of repentance, the church will certainly forgive him. However, if he remains in that particular sin and becomes a kind of person who lives in it, he must be removed from the fellowship of the church. Otherwise, the entire church will be leavened.
*
If you think about, naturally anyone who are deeply ingrained in sin would avoid God.

It's a natural reaction.

The bible did mentioned that our minds automatically become hostile to God in Romans 8:7.

If that's the case I don't see why that person would still want to come to church unless perhaps he's looking for an answer.

Really from my experience I know people wouldn't really want to come to church because things like this really convicts him/her.

If He/She is looking for a way out, we should help as brothers and sisters.

I believe Paul really meant expel in the sense not to associate that's all he didn't say explicitly to remove the person or to refuse the person into coming to Church.

Unfortunately, he did. tongue.gif

Your description above illustrate a person who commits sins and is convicted (there is hope) .... Yes, we should help that brother. But the one portrayed above is so blatant that even Paul himself knew .... probably the whole church and even unbelievers knew of it tongue.gif ... a living. But, the divine revelation revealed here is not centered on how to deal with the brother but to see the intrinsic root cause and Paul's pattern of his exercise of his spirit instead of his soul.

The root cause negatively (not positively, since Christ is the solution) of the source of such problems in the church in Corinth is that Paul dealt firstly with the first problem, the matter of division, which is mainly related to the natural life of the soul. The second problem, dealt with in chapter five, the second section of the book, is the sin of fornication, which is related to the lust of the flesh.

Once a church is diverted from the central vision of God’s economy and gets into the soul, the door will be open for the lust of the flesh to come in. This will open the way not only for jealousy and strife, but even for gross sins. Therefore, it is extremely dangerous for us to remain in the soul. In this Epistle Paul first deals with the soul and then with the lusts of the flesh. The dealing with the soul is primarily a dealing with division. The first four chapters of this book deal with the problem of division, which comes from the soul. Division is a soulish matter, mainly a matter of the mind. It is the result of opinion, and opinion issues from the mind. This is clearly indicated in the first four chapters. From reading these chapters we see that there were divisions among the Corinthians because they were very much in the natural mind. They turned from the spirit and exercised the soul. They departed from the central vision, and this opened the gate for the lust of the flesh to come in.

Here, we all must learn to deny the soul and renounce it and to live in the spirit. We should remain in our spirit and exercise our spirit in every situation. This will close the door to the lust of the flesh.

Paul pattern is er ... "so ken!!"

In verse 3 Paul says that although he was absent in the body, he was present in the spirit. The apostle, as a spiritual person, behaved in his spirit, in contrast to the Corinthians, who behaved either in the soul or in the flesh. Although Paul was absent from them in the body, he was still present with them in the spirit and exercised his spirit to judge the evil person among them. In verse 4 Paul even says that his spirit was assembled with them. The apostle’s spirit was so strong that it attended the Corinthian believers’ meeting. His spirit was assembled with them to carry out his judgment upon the evil person. Paul dealt with the church not only by writing and by sending Timothy to them but also by exercising his spirit. This proves that he was a person who lived in the spirit. It also reveals how strong his spirit was. Paul’s spirit was so strong that it could even attend a church meeting far away.

Yes I understand but the point is this.

If that said Sinner is cast out or evicted from ever coming to Church again, his/her only point of contact is the world. And constant fellowship with the world only worsen the state of his/her sin because that is basically what the world is about. The people of the world is not going to tell him to repent. That is for sure.

We are all sinners before we come to Christ. This is the thing that a lot of people forget after conversion to Christ. If it wasn't by the grace of God, we will still be lost in sin. If God gracious to us, we should in turn be gracious to people who have back-slided or lack the understanding why it's wrong to continue sinning even after conversion.

Different people mature at their own pace.

It doesn't mean when one faith is weak, we should disassociate ourselves totally from him because by then he would have no one to teach him or learn.

That is why I don't think Paul is talking about physical evicting, because by doing that it's is not going to help him at all.

You must understand one thing. Jesus came to save the sinners. Not the righteous. The church is a sanctuary not only for believers but for all who seek God.

People who continue to sin after conversion lacks understanding. They can only be admonished by the word of God. By evicting them totally, I don't see how He/She can come around.

Even if we pray for him, God still uses people to reach to people. The Church is the people.

I guess I was trying to veer from this point that it is not a matter of how to deal with this brother, in which, I did predicted you will bring it up   whistling.gif . Nobody was saying that we don't talk to that person. Only by the principle of Matthew, we just have to treat him as if he is an unbeliever, that's all, from the fellowship of the church. As much, that brother, in eternity, is already saved and is our brother in God's life and nature. And yes, we are all saved sinners. But it is more for the testimony of the golden lampstand.

After all, he was recovered in 2 Corinthians ... so some believers stayed in contact with him and recovered Him. He probably "woke up" after being excommunicated ... who's knows ... you cannot say that God has used this way.

Why do I get the feeling that your sentences on the church .. as if it is a physical building tongue.gif

Anyway, these are not central thing/focus ... we are too distracted by these outward things ....
*
LoL, the irony is on me. I thought you meant the physical Church. Okay My Bad.

And yes God can make use of any situation to touch people's life.

But never the less, I thought you echoed the sentiment that Church should only be for Godly people and perpetual sinners who refuse to give up sin are not allowed in. This is a self righteous pride akin to the Pharisee which IMO is wrong.

When Paul said to expel the immoral brother, He meant to cast out and totally reject the sinner idea of sinful lifestyle. We don't associate with him/her in that matter. That is all.

And the idea of not to eat together or be seen together is taken in the sense of being seen in public one to one person basis. Because by that, some people may mistakenly though the other brother is heavily influence in the same manner as he.

But if he wants to eat or mingle with the a group of people, I see nothing wrong with that. Because the moment he/she tries to outspokenly talk about his sinful lifestyle, I'm sure somebody in the group will rebuke and bring him around.

There is strength in numbers of believers.

Yes it is true that Jesus did come to give us life and give us abundantly. That would include material wealth.
Why people don't get this blessing yet is possibly because of few basic reasons.

1. They are not ready in the condition that they are. They will be destroyed by the love of money. This is character problem.
2. They still do not live according to Faith completely. You cannot believe for few moment then don't believe the next day. Inconsistent Faith.

But it's nothing difficult really. You want your prayers answered, just understand that the blood of Christ qualify you.

You are to live by Faith everyday.
Believe God will provide all your needs every day.
Believe you are save and is righteous in Christ by faith
Believe God Loves you daily.
Believe God can empower you to live away from Sin.

Do not fear just believe. Because everything that happens in your life starts when you get your mind right.

The one thing that makes my heart settled in with peace is to know that the God we serve has risen from the crucifixion and is Alive forever more.

That means He has won the battle and make right what Satan made wrong.

Being a God of omnipotent, omnipresence and Omniscient He will take care of us from our earth life until eternal life.

Why "Easter" , why not say "happy Passover".

The bible doesn't mention the word "Easter"

Easter is a festival of fertility in honor of the Babylonian god Eastre. Nothing to do with Jesus at all.
*
Some historian even link Easter with German Goddess of Old English World, Ostara. smile.gif No big deal.

The point remains, many tried link Christianity and it's celebration with Pagan Gods, even Christmas is not spared.

The concept of Heaven and Hell are derived from oldest religion and people say Christianity copied them.

The very first form of religion does not necessary means just because it came first therefore it is the truth. You must remember

early human beings worship almost anything, the star constellation, nature, etc. That is how religion came to be.

The gospel came in 2000 years ago to break all the pagan lies and prevailing religion and future religions orchestrated by Satan, so that by the Truth, mankind will come know there is only 1 Eternal God.

There are many allegations such as these but if anyone were to really attend how Churches celebrate Christmas and Easter,

they will find out for themselves, no where in our celebration do we venerate any of the pagan gods. Neither are any names of Pagan Gods are mentioned. Only Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is the central of Christianity.

If that being the case I don't see how we are celebration Pagan celebration because to do so, it must connect with the way the celebration is done which is synonymous and the worshipped being that is mentioned.

But the fact remains on Easter day, we celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion. That is the theme. Nothing more.

Genesis actually tells us that Adam and Eve they had relationship with God.

We are all created in his Image. One of the proof of this is that we have life.

Without God breathing his essence into (Life), no baby can ever come to life.

When Sin separate Man and God, it left all of us an emptiness inside and

Man naturally try to find his way back through various means such as religion, self realization, new age cult, Science, etc.

Man tried to fill the empty vacuum inside their spirit through those mentioned above which is proven to be incomplete.

The more they try, the worse it gets.

That is why the scripture said,

QUOTE
Jeremiah 2:13

"My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

And Jesus Says in

QUOTE
John 4:14
but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

That is why everyone who finds God, is complete in Spirit and search no more.

Well I believe this is up to each own conviction.

The bible only says the body is the temple where God dwells therefore that temple is sanctified and holy.

The scriptures says to honor the temple.

That means no mutilation or those crazy self inflict cutting, prostitution, etc and the likes.

We are no longer under the law of the old testament. We are all under the New Covenant.

The old law does not apply unless you want to live under the law.

You must understand the reason for the Old Testament Law came to be is to reveal Sin.

And it's God way of saying you can't reach him through self effort.

That's exactly why God gave such a long list of

Thou shall not.....
Thou shall not.....
Thou shall not.....

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see

Basically the nature of Faith is go against the nature of circumstances that you are in.

For example when you have financial crisis.

1. Keep on declaring God's Truth over your circumstances.
"My God Shall Supply ALL my Needs" (Philippians 4:19)

Jesus says you only need Faith as small as a mustard seed. Mustard seed is really small.

Warning Pic is really huge, but it's necessary to show you how small is small.

You don't need so much X amount of Faith in order for this to work. A mustard seed Faith is all you need to start.

2. The next step is to believe and receive that God's providence is already there by Faith. (Mark 11:24)

This inter-relate to No.1. After you activate your faith, keep on believing that you have receive by declaration of God's word. Keep on meditating Any of the Scriptures promises relevant to your needs over and over until it sink in deep and becomes natural.

3. Rest Easy and refuse to be worried. (Matthew 6:25-27)

Literally! I really mean it. This takes a lot of determination and will power. But you got to be absolutely resolved to trust God completely.
When you give it to God refuse to take it back by worrying. Put your self to rest, breathe easy. smile.gif
And be confident that God is more than able to handle your situation.

All these needs practise and takes time but you got to be abosultely resolve to do it if you want any victory as a Christian in your life.
