Thinking of getting new Paradigm floor standers, but my place (rented) is fairly small and this is the only place I can put the speakers.

Question is, if the sun actually reach the speakers, how bad is it for the speakers?

See where the old speakers are mounted... Now imagine a floor stander there... whistling.gif

(sorry for bad pic, using iPhone 3... blush.gif )

If you think it is a problem you can always tint the windows

windows already tinted, but morning open for fresh air....

Will the sun/heat spoil the cones?

YOu can see the shadow below the wall mount speaker where the floorstander will be...

Direct sun... Morning only though...

it gonna take a very long time for the speaker cover to fade.. coz it's only exposed to bright sun only during the morning..

I just afraid that my sub will have 2-toned colour even it would take long time, so i cover from day 1. wink.gif

I think the issue goes beyond just color difference. The sunlight might affect the speaker surrounds:

If i'm not mistaken, the fading is caused by ultraviolet, not by the brightness of the light.. So, tinted will help a lot.. Anyway, If I were you, I'd also do the same thing. Cover it with something..

how about those wooden speaker? as i got a floor stander speaker, unsure how to take care it... at the moments no clean the speaker with damp clothes as worry the humidity will lead the fungus after months... hence i also placed a carpet under the floor stander to isolate the "direct" humidity which released from ground floor tiles...
