No Oppo in Malaysia.

Go to Adelphi, near City Hall MRT.

AVR is cheap in Singapore.

Electronics are generally cheaper than Malaysia if only because they are not saddled with the 25% tax. A brand new pair of Paradigm Atoms is about sg350 (last I checked at Asia Sound Eqpt, level 4) whereas it is over rm1k here

Once you are at Adelphi, you can visit Jaben Network for headphones (they are at Level 4)

there's also some used equipment resellers in the basement. golden ear audio (level 3, i think) is quite expensive though.

visit New Disc Village on level 3 with loads of LPs and SACDs

----------------------------------------------------------

Check out the stuff on sale at XP and make an appointment to view over the weekend; some people are selling the Oppo BDP83

If I recall, most of the AV shops in Adelphi close quite early. By 7pm, the place is half-deserted. So be there early or be disappointed...

i checked on certain entry level B&W, Paradigm and PSB stuffs

prices are comparable to those in Msia, just +-10%
not worth the hassle

however certain higher end stuffs are cheaper though, a shop offered me CHT-12Q @ 30% off KL's price

Thanks lucky I found one last unit at kec. Tested svs sb12nsd revised model with 400w amp. Impressive for small sub and affordable price. Dennis was nice enough to demo few setups for me with the sb12.

Also tested paradigm but the uncle keep pushing me the old model front speakers for s$1.7k. Still insisted to demo the newer ones for s$4k with rotel amp and sub12 woofer. Maybe it wasn't set up properly but it sound a bit sharp on the top end.

Wanted to audition monitor audio gold series but shop was out of stock. The shop uncle also sounded very arrogant.. Hmm is this typical?

Nicest people besides kec was the dude at klipsch where I got my dipole rear surround for 50% off and the owner of the focus audio shop. Was impressed with the center speaker from focus audio and they had few models on discount. After checking with bro geforce the center speaker I almost bought cost 5k in kl ie. Fsc1. In sg only 2.5k after conversion. Next trip will probably drive down to get the focus audio front and center. Models vary from entry level to rm100k for front speakers.

Last place I visit was sim lim square. The guy at city electronics was very grateful I introduce his shop to lowyat.net .. Looks like u all gave him a lot of business lol .. I also tested quad l2 speakers there.. Not bad for the price of s$2k+ for front and center.
