Added on February 16, 2011, 1:00 pmIt require 16mm hole size & depth of minimum 42-43mm.

Just need to connect as per normal how you would connect a casing's power on/off switch & power led light. ( blue/green/red )
Length of cable can be customized to shorter or much longer.

not so IT related. but i was contracted to a broadcasting system builder to do some jobs. this is high bandwith HDTV cable with Canare termination & cable.

on a side note guys, do NOTE that each psu manufacturers modular cable may use the same 6pin ( similar to pci-e 6pin ) connector to their psu.

BUT, the position of the wires : red ( +5v ), yellow ( +12v ), black ( ground ) is not always the same. Get the wrong cable, it will be disastrous. I dont know what will happen but i guess explosion

attached are some references. if anyone need help in this, i will try my best to guide u get the correct wiring.

my ex-rig, built around year 2005.

Definitely uv infested rig. my modding skill was limited at that time. so played with only colored cables.

i remember each & every one computer i build. be it my customers' or mine. thumbup.gif

Hey all, something interesting for u all to follow up for the next 1-2weeks till completion. I welcome all ideas to make this project cost effective & simplest possible.

The condition & objective to build this system are :

- Small & portable ( size of a m-atx casing or smaller if possible )
- A/C Powered.
- use of 3x 120watt peltier
- cooling area, size of a rear mini van.
- cooling environment estimate to be 35c-40c-45c-50c depending on weather

Video show a start up test.

On the hot side, temp is ok with the heat pipe heatsink rated to hold 160watt. I will be using this heatsink & a 92mm fan to draw heat out.

With the thermal probe i have in store, one to the heatpipe ( blue ) one to the cold heatsink ( orange )

Estimate temp i recorded for both hot / cold side.

COLD - 6c / HOT - 36c <-- Fan at max speed
COLD - 10c / HOT - 43c <-- Fan speed controlled, about 70%
COLD - 10c / HOT - 58c <-- Fan speed controlled, lowest speed, 20-30%
COLD - 15c / HOT - 70c <---- Fan off, at this point, the heatsink with no fan running gets really hot to the finger & the WIRES from psu start to get really HOT too !

Video link below.

further testing, with improved heatsink, yielding a cool average of -2c at the cold area. the entire fin cooling area after the heatpipe is not so cold, fluctuating between 5c-10cm due to open area.

here's my final modifications. i use a 2mm aluminium sheet as divider.

Top - HOT
Bottom - COLD

Fan controller will be implemented to regulate the temperature at the hot side, also in away of controlling the cold side. more heat out = more cold at the bottom.

Cold will blow out cold air through the front of the casing ( with a front exhaust hole for cold air ). and another hold at the rear ( PCI area for heat to get out , coupled with a large air duct to route the hot air away nicely.

still working on it, will be powering up all 3 peltiers today to see the result.

more improvements will be adding insulating foam to trap cold inside & at the lower section. it'll be like a sealed up lower section from outside. This casing is an aluminium casing, it draw heat/cold very quickly.

uglyvamp, i would suggest to insulate the divider plate to maximize the heat transfer between. The divider has a lot of area for heat dissipation, which is not good if you want to keep 1 chamber cool.

This is my gigs:

One blue and another red (LED lighting mod mainly)

The BLUE: CM 690
Using all blue fan
Additional blue LED strip at top (hidding)
Front LCD (blue) panel
I also add HDD rack for easy backup and really huge file transfer

The RED: CM Scout
Using RED light fan
Using Three additional LED strip light: RED(back hidding), Orange (Top hidding) and White flashing (bottom)
This one also got HDD rack

Both gigs same mobo, use modular PSU. Blue one used for almost 3 years and Red one about coming 2 years.
Now feeling to build a custom mini iTX, so might sell one of the rig when decided dee.
