you can get the np8170 with the gtx485m.

try to customize it in mucro.asia.

Now only Mucro.Asia Selling Sager ?

QUOTE(This is a Lamp @ Mar 30 2011, 02:42 PM)
Even the X7200. Very stupid business practice haha.
Yeah I read the whole thread during my spare time haha, it was pretty bad. NBR users don't think highly of Eurocom.
There are two 17" laptops offered by Sager/Clevo. Both of them mentioned above; the Clevo X7200 and the Sager NP8170.

The NP8170 does not have SLI (dual GPU), but currently it is faster than the M17x R3 because the M17x does not have 485M as a config (correct me if I'm wrong here) and the NP8170 can have the 6970m and the GTX 470/485M. However, the M17x has dual GPU solutions.

The X7200 however destroys the M17x R3. Why? It is the only 17" laptop that has desktop processors built in AND dual GPU solution, while running cool. But it is quite heavy...

I saw the post wrote that I able to install another HDD or SSD in the Laptop ? Actually I not using it for gaming , I just want a more faster Laptop . How is the speaker and the sound card on the laptop compare with Alienware M17X R3 ?

How long the battery on the Sager laptop can last if I not gaming and just doing assignment ?

U have Alienware Laptop before and what happens to it ?
Where can I find Clevo X7200 dealer ?

I think there should be a FAQ in the first post... So that people don't ask repeated questions. Not trying to discourage people from asking but there has been a lot of the same questions going around...

E.g. Warranty (How to claim, How it works, Who has the best, etc.)
Tax (Customs Tax, Delivery Tax, etc.)
Payment (Who accepts what, How to pay, Bank Account Number(s), etc.)
Discounts (Who are entitled, How much of a discount, What type of discount, etc.)
Resellers (List of resellers, Contact info, "Review" of the resellers)
Shipping (Price, Who has the "lowest" charges, etc.)

Again, I am not trying to discourage people from asking questions but there should be a FAQ section in the first post and hopefully it would be implemented.

I'm quite busy so I can't really help much in finding the needed info. sad.gif Scream at me in PM if you want. laugh.gif

Really a good idea to post FAQs at front page as reference who want to buy laptop

Don't worry. I'll try to compile all repeated questions into FAQs. I forgot to reserve the second post to add more info, so first post considered crowded already. biggrin.gif
I may not be able to provide answers for warranty/tax/discounts since I don't own the unit. I can ask other users to give some info on it.
*
Maybe can ask Chrono|Exe who in the 2nd post to help to post the FAQs

QUOTE(This is a Lamp @ Mar 31 2011, 07:17 AM)
Yes you are able to install a second HDD/SSD to the NP8170. So you have 2 HDD plus a DVD drive. If I am right, you can go as far as having 3 HDDs, if you take the DVD drive out. I do not have the NP8170, but I can say that the sound should be better than the M17x R3 because the NP8170 has a subwoofer, that adds some "ummpph" into the sound.

And also I am wrong about the M17x R3 having two GPUs; I just read that it only has one GPU. So clearly I think the Sager will be the winner, unless you are after nice lights and things.

Battery should about about 3 hours, medium brightness without doing much.

What happened to my Alienware (It's an M17x R2 by the way that has two GPUs)? http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=40140204

And the Clevo x7200 is quite common in many resellers (it is also called Sager 7280).
Mucro sells it here: http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Mucro-Sag...-NP7280-S1.html
XoticPC: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7280s1-clev...200-p-2935.html
*
Should I ask them to upgrade the drive to blu-ray or I upgrade by my self ?

How about gaming ? Do u purchase extra battery ? I saw some guys saying that Alienware M17X can last quite longer like 5 hours

Actually Clevo x7200 is too much for me who don't play game.

After I survey the price for sager , I saw cubehub selling Sager which didn't preloaded with Windowx 7 and need to add USD 90 for Windows 7 Home Premium ? Should I add USD 90 or I purchase retail pack and install by my self ?

I saw Xoticpc have a quite reasonable price and I thinking about the warranty ? If the Laptop spoiled , I need to send it from here to USA by myself and need to bear the cost for shipping ?

Well if ure not much into gaming better take np5170
*
Maybe sometime I will use it for gaming . Game that I want to play is Need For Speed Shift Unleased , Crysis 2 and other .

I don't think NVIDIA® GeForce™ GT 540M GPU can support a lots of new game for in this few years

QUOTE(This is a Lamp @ Mar 31 2011, 12:30 PM)
Well, the M17x can last longer because they enabled Sandybridge's GPU, and they only have the GTX 460m as an option now. Sager didn't enable this because they know Sandybridge's GPU has driver and compatibility issues. However, you are buying a gaming laptop, and battery life is never really part of the equation. And I did not purchase extra batteries, because seriously, I don't game on batteries. You get half of your performance by using batteries. If I'm doing work or whatever I'm fine with running 3 hours.

You can add Windows 7 by yourself, if you think it's cheaper. This is entirely up to you. I already have a Windows CD before, so I didn't order Windows with my laptop.

And XoticPC, you have to send it to USA with shipping...sorry. They stated this in their website:

"This warranty is only good in the United States of America. Repairs are only done at the US factory. In the unlikely event that you would have to return your computer for warranty repairs when outside the US, you would have to pay for the shipping/handling and insurance to and from the Repair Center.
*
Will Sager release any driver for the GPU to solve to problem ? If 3 hours , I also think that quite enough for work .

U using Home Premium now or Ultimate ?

*sigh* I've sent in my order to Cubehub last week (with wire transfer as payment), until now, no one has gotten back to me in regards to their bank account's details... sien...

I think I'll go for the NP8170... convenient for SSD+HDD+DVD... smile.gif
No need to take out the DVD for the 2nd bay...
*
If take out the DVD to install the 2nd HDD will void the warranty ?

Some SSD manufacture didn't use original connector like Molex brand and they cheap one like made in China or Taiwan which cannot fit very well

EXACTLY! Why so many ppl says that Mucro is cheaper??

It's always the most expensive when I configure NP8150-S1!

Check this out:
[attachmentid=2150095]
MUCRO.ASIA = RM5,309.80

and,
[attachmentid=2150096]
MALIBAL=USD1,634.00 (before 3% discount), after discount and conversion of RM4,802.98 (assuming USD1.00 = RM3.03)

So where got cheaper??!?!
*
How about the warranty ? U need to send it back to USA for claim warranty ?
