Dear fellow AMD overclockers, LYN AMD thread members proudly present you the very 1st mini AMD OC challenge. It’s been a while since we last saw a compy held specifically for AMD overclockers, thus the idea was born 2 weeks back. With limited time at our disposal (thanks to the festive season & being working adults), we have little time to plan and discuss things together. The prizes might not be very attractive but we do hope that it won’t be the only driving force for fellow forumers to participate. While waiting for the anticipated Bulldozer to arrive and seeing Intel doing pretty well in Sandy Bridge, the wait could be kinda boring. So why not we have some fun in the process of waiting, right? Furthermore, we sincerely hope that through this mini challenge, it can bring all the AMD users (be it ex, existing or soon-to-be) together, to discuss and share their thoughts about AMD OC. After all, sharing is caring, isn’t it?
Since there’s no major sponsors for this mini event, let just take this as “from AMD overclockers, for AMD overclockers“, though we would like to thank few parties like Lowyat.Net (especially Overclockers United moderating team) for sanctioning us the rights to hold this compy, MSI Malaysia for the gifts (very attractive prizes), fellow LYN AMD thread members for the inputs, and last but not least, bro cloudwan whose volunteered be our logistic manager (delivering prizes to winners & contributing some prize).
OK, let’s skip the formalities and go straight to the points, shall we?
The Objectives:
1. To bring all AMD overclockers together to discuss & share thoughts on AMD overclock.
2. Attract more interest on AMD setup.
3. To have fun while trying to push the limit of machines as well as ourselves.
Challenge Benchmark:
1. OC HTT challenge (CPU-Z version 1.56 validation link required) – Minimum CPU clock must be at least 3GHz.
2. WPrime 1024M (Version 2.04)
3. Cinebench CPU Test (R11.5)
4. Superpi 32M - separate challenge (Super Pi Mod 1.5 XS)
* Due to small number of X6 users (from what we observed), ALL benchmarks will be STRICTLY limited to 4 cores (and below) & *3.8GHz (CPU) speed cap only. The purpose of this restriction is to avoid the need to have separate category for Thuban users.
*up to +10MHz is acceptable... any higher, sorry guys, just drop a notch of ya htt will do.
