Well let we talk about this. I never organize a tournament before, but i would like to do it.First of all to the organizers for dota tournaments out there, its now february and there already alot of tournaments out there.Good job on that. But what i'm sad to see is that all of these tournaments are ban those "top players" we cant call them top teams anymore because most of them are disband and they are making a new team which is with a player from amateur teams.May i ask did you the organizers ban them because others organizers ban it,or you guys ban because of attractions? Its early of 2011 and its almost 4 months after the smm finished? every year people will disband and form a new team, why you guys keep ban same kind of top teams?

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1056787

here are links for 2009 tournament at amazone they started to bans

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1144321

another tournament 2009 at gigabite, they started to ban same teams

and alot more, but as you can see all of these teams is include techwinter, redsun, sharky, xiaoling, silvercross, yamateh, xtinct, mushi, net, ice, zuki, nich. Why malaysian peoples when they see no ban top players they doesnt wanna register at all?How you guys wanna improve?

Smm for 2006 and 2007 is open for malaysians. But when comes to 2008 until 2010,did malaysians get top 3 placing?what a shame, malaysia host such a great tournament of all tournaments but they hard to get top 3 placing when its open to international. The reason is malaysian peoples are scared to improve, what they want is "i won amateur tournament no.1" and they keep the title until they die.How can we win the china ? our gaming community never improve. If every tournaments is open trust me everyone can get same level, people keep improve and trust me too that our gaming community will grow same as china which they been paid good enough to play.Every gamers in china do have a price of themself, and their salary is better than people that studied for 6-7 years in college. They never think about how many they will lose, but they always think that from mistakes they can learn. From those mistakes they can win RM50K++ every year, from those mistakes they do they been paid a good salary just to play games.I know most of them are lazy to study and always hope that malaysia gaming industry same like how in china, to start with please stop ban top players and let all tournament are opens.Wise words that i saw today is , "if you wanna be in a game, you have to prepared to lose.Lose early doesnt mean you will lose forever." I hope this topics will never close, and people out there will reply with a manners and dont flame. Its a thread that will make our gaming industry grow better.

I totally agree what you say, normally we ban them due of the attraction. Not everybody dun want improve, just they dun want purposely go to lose when they know that the tournament got top player. They will feel waste money on registration fees, transportation fees and so on.

We are trying to let top player join this year all the dota tournament, but we still need some idea and time to think about special rules and regulation. For your information, last 2 month once the amateur team saw Ah Chuan, ICE and Xtint at a tournament. They come to my side say that ''wah, they so pro'', ''how we can win and play the game''...

You know Malaysia becomes China Dota Players's ''atm machine'' oredi?? every year come here to win the cash prizes. If you got any suggestion for dota tournament, please add us at okay.bt@hotmail.com, due coming soon we got more than 30 dota tournament going to organize besides smm. Hope hear from you soon.

Redrevolve for me if you wanna organize a real tournaments for malaysian to improve just ignores those noobs saying that "they so pro how to win them?" i think its time to stop those amateur tournament and open it all . If still wanna open for those amateur i guess u should just keep open pro and amateur slots. thats the best for now, eventho for me its not so good seperate pros and amateurs. Its not fair

Why not open for all but tier vs tier? Let say after 8 tier 1 teams faced each other, left 4, and 16 tier 2 teams face each other and left 8, the 4 tier 1 will mixed into the 8 tier 2 teams. At least the PROS and the NOOBS get to play and have their skills tested with the so called PROS. If you keep on winning in tier 2 category, that doesn't make you a champion but more like a champion of losers.

Amateur teams are afraid to join when there are pro players because if their team fight those pros first round, how win?

My suggestion is make group stages... put 1 pro team in each group... the top 2/3 teams advance to knock out. \

This way, amateur teams know even if they lose to pro team, they still have another chance to win the second/third game to earn points.

We can rant all we want here, but will organisers listen?

But, I have to disagree when if there are pro teams, amateur teams refuse to register. Has everyone forgotten how Akicom DotA tournament was a success?

The most important thing, I feel, is a credible organiser who is telus (transparent) and adil (fair) who can provide a 'professional' gaming envrionment, regardless whether pro teams are around or not.

In china its purely business
compared to malaysia? u need to study in colege n come out to earn 3k job permonth..

competitive gamer in malaysia? pure sad case...who can sponsor them? no one? even those mega rich cina company cc like FTZ N TBUN..they got sponsor? no ? when sponsoring this kinda teams are just peanuts for them...its bout their attitude
and malaysian team lose = disband, never stick they only know to disband..forever disband..infact got any team that last really that long? longest 1 yeaR n then disband..more sad if training 1 day lose disband LOL when their skill is just normal but think too much + too much expectation...malaysian dota scene will never improve from now on ...yamateh mushi ppx is the last generation of ppls who can be at the top...last gen.....u wont see any of them anymore..

Last generation? I wouldn't bet my life on that. I am still more optimistic about the future of DotA for Malaysians.

Your group stage idea is good...this is what we doing now for this year tournament, but the point is ''top team''.....
we really need create some special rules to let Nirvana, INC, MUFC or Scythe Team to join our tournament to let the mamteur team learn something from them...
although we do not know the ''top team'' interested to join our tournament or not...

I totally agree Akicom Dota Tournament is a successful event. But not every event can do like that, that is special case.
Our company hold so much tournament in one year, but we found that is if you let ''top team'' join...seldom amateur team want to join....

For an example,if amateur team meet up with non amateur, they can use some "special rules"" such as defend 20 or 30 minutes, amateur straight default win...which team consider non amateur team?? The team such as Inc and nirvana...

thenoobone has a good point. but then the various competition organisers have to work together. And what will unite these organisers together?

A gaming union/body.
