Check if you have an app called Superuser. If you don't have that then you're not rooted....

You need to root first.

use the trackball in the recovery, not the power button.

You can't make nandroid backups. Flash a newer CWM recovery (2.5.1.8) or Amon-Ra Recovery

Hi, i tried to google CWM recovery (2.5.1.8), but cant find any download link.
any idea on where to get the latest version of CWM recovery?

Added on February 25, 2011, 12:17 pmI have updated CWM to v3.0.0.5, but when i wanna backup from Nandroid, its show the error msg: E:failed to find "cache"  or  Can't mount /cache/recovery  bla bla..

Use Unrevoked with custom .img file for CWM 3.0.0.5 (You should use 2.5.1.8 for S-ON)
Reflash again...=]

-There is another way *I think* but I used that way because I also encountered the same problem. No harm reflashing

suspect ur /cache are full, did you try wipe /cache before?

becuase i see comment in forum it is too good and within 2 hours got almost 6 page..
crazy..even cm7 forum not like that. thats why i'm thinking why not give a try...

have you root?
what rom do you want to flash?what recovery did you use?
have you try other rom?

normally each time we wipe /cache
suppose not to see "E:Error erasing device @" before the msg Cache wiper complete.
since ClockworkMod Recovery give you a trouble, you may consider try Amon_RA recovery (my favorite, had try ClockworkMod but dislike)
again, make sure you have successful root the phone.

Juz 1 stupid question from me, have you partition ur sdcard?

just release that you said wipe cache partition. this is wipe the cache on your ext.sd
this is not same as wipe /cache. this is wipe cache from internal memory.

but from here, it's good that detect your issue might on mount problem.
that's why you failed  to nandroid. as the backup as save in sd card fat32.

try this:
Execute this command from ADB or a Terminal Emulator app from the Marketplace: cat /proc/mtd

any size of swap should be no problem. but I always see the recommended is 0MB swap. you can just follow as I do. no problem.
I just see your youtube link, never that that method before. just try Gparted LiveCD before only.

if still failed. share with us, your unit is PVT3, PVT4 or other?
there is an issue on certain old version of ClockworkMod are not support newer PVT

shutdown your phone,press volume down without releasing it then switch on your phone...from there you can check whether your set is pvt3 or pvt4...

from the command you run just now, u should see Erasesize will say either 20000 or 40000
40000 should be PVT4, 2000 should be older PVT.

or most simple way check at HBOOT

Ok, now i have the CWM recovery, how do i uninstall it before i flash to Amon RA recovery?
