1. Worse ever choice that Nokia could make. Elop did consider Android one time, but backed out when he was informed that Google Maps would take precedent ove Ovi Maps (in other words - we want the data, and you can't have it), that they would be just a faceless number of manufacturer that are producing Android phone, just like Samsung, HTC and LG. And the final nail was being told by the European and American operators that they don't want another Android phone cluttering their already too big of a portfolio of Android phone, that they want something different, something else to promote that they are not able to, because its either Iphone or Android now. Plus the fact that Android seems to only give benefit to Google.

2. The ones in charge of Symbian don't even know how the eye candy should look like. In fact, forget the eye candy, just give a functional UI first. But what they come up with was a keypad phone updated a bit to work with fat fingers. Come on, enlarged menus? With all the supposed Symbian know how, that's the best they can do? Felt just like what HTC did with Windows Mobile with HTC Touch UI.

3. What we know is this - its backed by a company with very deep pockets. That in itself secures its longevity. The fact that Microsoft was rigid with the requirements also was another factor. But as Elop has said, their agreement differs in the fact that Nokia can do customization to the phone, such as replacing services. And remember, the OS is 4 months old. Remember Android when it was 1 year old?

Nokia could have promoted from withing, but they will all be drinking the same cool-aid that made them missed the fact that they were being owned by everyone. Microsoft didn't actually offer Elop to Nokia, Nokia came and headhunted him. Why? Because as distasteful as it might seem, they needed an outsider that would tell them as it is, and not cover up mistakes that they might have made when they were in the company.

Added on February 13, 2011, 8:43 amWhatever faults Wp7 has, almost all review I read, and from my own personal experience, the UI is fresh, functional, and easy to use. That was why Symbian is crash and burning, because the UI was like trying to steer a car using half a steering wheel. iOS even right now don't have all that you have listed, the the phones are so hot of a commodity that it's sold out everytime it comes out. What does that tell you?

Good Morning Guys & Girls

I understand from Nokia Salesman in Klang yesterday that those brought their N8 from Mid Feb 2011 should have the purple tint as these set are 2nd batch and also he mentioned that this issue could/can be resolve as new firmware release.. I just wonder which firmware is he refering to? PR1.1 or PR 2.O. Well Mine until now no update yet as not available for my product code..
