My PS3 fat is still running smoothly after all these years. Almost 3 years...if I'm not mistaken.

Mine is a fatty @ 80GB (swapped to 500GB) and it's still working till now. The only problem I encountered thus far is:

System hang (screen freezes): 3 times (over a period of 3 years, if I'm not mistaken) which is not a major problem.

Let's cook it over time! I've been left my PS3 (fat 80GB, upgraded to 500GB of HDD) and it's been running over 18 hours and will continue to cook it until it's time to serve the dish.

Expected to run 27 hours continuously until tonight. Hope I won't bring any harm to my PS3 system which is of 2 years++ (near to 3 years) if I'm not mistaken.

So much money to burn? LOL anyway can write down your details of your unit also since you're not going to give a shit about this unit so we can have some reference on which one that is more prior to YLOD
I had to kill that PS3...in a day or two that is. It's not in an air conditioned room. I've switched on the ceiling fan on 2 out of 5 speed of fan. I'm not sure if that helps for cooling purpose. I switched off the LCD TV and the only thing running is my PS3 doing some downloading stuff.

I slept at 3am and I was awake at 6am, the PS3 fan is still silent. I woke up at about 7.58am and the machine is still running. The fan didn't kick up its speed, still silently doing the downloading quietly. I'm not sure how it turns out when I reach home later today. I'll report on the fan noise tomorrow.

Maybe I'll snap some pictures or maybe a video with my camera.

Really then you can give it to me?  brows.gif Anyway the fan kicks in when PS3 are running via Blu-ray isn't it? DL only using HDD right?
So far what I can see is the green diode: WiFi and orange diode: HDD access blinking away. Hmm...the fan kicks in when there's a Bluray inserted in the slot? I'm not sure about it but I would like to see how it goes after I get home from work later today.

u using the fat or the slim, i do tat b4... but due to YLOD i dont do download often, i usually do download along my offline game...
I didn't write the word "slim" so it's understood it's the fat version. Anyway, it's been stretching from Gran Turismo 5 to Winning Eleven 2011 to FIFA 2011 to NFS:Hot Pursuit to...as of today, Metal Gear Solid 4. Patch after patch, DLC after DLC, trailer after trailer, so on and so forth. Let's see what else I have to feed into my PS3. It's 30 hours++ and nothing so far.

Working very late these few days and will have an off day on Tuesday, 30th August 2011. Hope I can find some time to upload some pictures taken.

Congratulations! My PS3 had three beeps of death earlier this month. I could still fire it up and managed to transfer all the data by using the Ethernet cable. Thank God! 4 hours++ was wasted for transferring approximately 250GB data.

=_=''' u sounds like... anyway ur is fat or slim? 250GB takes 4 hours ++ tat is quite fast, mine 160GB to another 160GB PS3 takes almost from midnight until evening... =_=''
I'm quite happy that the fat is dead...I'm not sure why but that's what I felt. Anyways, here's some pictures that I took when I transferred everything via Ethernet cable. A few presses of buttons here and there and...Hey! Hey! Hey! It's a success!

Notice the yellow coloured Ethernet cable?

wow u have so many games + HDTV + Altec Lansing speaker if i'm not mistaken... + another PS3 =_=''' or juz bought?, tat time i only hav 1 PS3 + limited edition... once it is YLOD i was like OMGWTF!!! Spend 1XXX like tat spoiled adi =_=''' btw how long does it last?
I bought the Slim after my fat buddy was sick. Actually the unit (original) can still be fired up. Some simple games, Bluray movies, songs, videos are playable on the fat buddy but when it comes to heavy power munching games, it'll beep three times and it automatically shuts down. If I'm not mistaken...2 years++ (nearing to 3 years).

It's not the latest picture...Here's the latest picture that I took. Bought a few games and a cooler pad. Bought an Urban Camoflage wireless controller yesterday and it was not included in the pictures below. LOLZ! Too many new things these couple of days.

reballing also don't work..i think sony purposely damage the fat one by it's update  mad.gif
Erm...That's a serious allegation that you have in your thought there, mate. I had mine "beep, beep, beep" after I've downloaded patch 2.00 for Gran Turismo 5. I think Polyphony Digital made my fat buddy sick. LOLZ!

LOL~ my fat fixed for the 3-4 times adi, ytd juz started to play a game and pop out a notification said overheating and the light keep blinking but the game still running then gone... LOL~
Anyway I heard rumor said that PS4 is coming this year... Perhaps tahan for this year then get PS4? LOL~
The possibility of PS4 to be announced on the forth quarter of 2012 is likely. However, the release of the hardware itself is highly unlikely or near to impossible. Give it a year or two and PS4 would be materialised. That's how I see it.

For my fat buddy, there's no notification about overheating or anything. It beeps three times and automatically shut down by itself. My buddy is pretty sick and he can only play songs, video, light gaming (for gaming that uses the Bluray disc...this depends on luck).
