Well, since its about gravity.. Maybe if you got second floor, move your console to up stair.. Or if you stay in apartment is better.. The higher you stay the better.. Because increase in altitude reduces the gravitational force right due to a point, which I dun remember the name?  Lol.. If I remember correctly la.. Din touch physic book for a long~ time..

If the theory works, at least can last you couple of months more or maybe a year more.. Unless you constantly do maintenance right after the warranty ended before it melted... If not 2 years or 3 is the max your PS3 can last.. Guess it make sense though.. Any machine needs constant maintenance..  hmm.gif

if the console is having a semi ylod.. meaning will overheat after an hours play... the only way to prolong the life span is to not play games that puts the RSX GPU to work at max... usually games like uncharted & GOW will instantly shorten the lifespan if the ps3 is struck by ylod symtoms...

other long term alternatives is to reball it..

yes u c at the poll there is 10 unit affect YLOD anyway i saw there is 1 at the repair shop that unable to repair it, so i juz assume it is 11... LOL~

hmm i not sure about tat... some said verticle while some said horizontal anyway my best assumption is giv the PS3 release heat as much as possible is the best solution to avoid YLOD. Will do so for my nxt PS3...

some people tell me to blow the fan into the vent. If like that, its even worst. You're blowing the heat inside the PS3. LOL.
Heat has no where to escape.

The reason people said horizontal because they said due to gravity, when the paste between the RSX and PS3 is melted,
then vertical console will have the RSX or the paste moving down or something like that.

6 hours? whoa i dont have that much time tongue.gif i took 2 hours is the sweet spot to be safe.

just a theory here after some good time with logical thinking..

when you play games, it heats up the mobo but uneven distribution of heat made the some part of the mobo to flex/expand and causing the solder joint to crack. what if we pre heat the other part instead of cooling it so the heat is evenly distributed and the expansion of the cpu/gpu can be keep up with additional heat to other part on the mobo/pcb, i dont think the chip itself is so easy to be damage from extra heat, it just the matter of solder connection. but if you do it just pray that the heat won't melt the solder joint. smile.gif

nice ps3 you have there rclxms.gif congrats

i just bought a refurb one and i felt like being cheated now. i'm sure mine used to be ylod-repaired unit. no way people are going to sell the console if its in good condition like you right?. if that thing ylod within a month i'm going to "sunat" him for selling me this. mad.gif
