I dint see any topics bout miscarriage in here, so I thought I open a topic just to have some share of thoughts..

I just had a D&C done on my 2nd pregnancy yesterday. cry.gif

The first was in July 2010 and I was bout 12 weeks pregnant, but the fetus had forever been 6mm size... sad.gif (there was heartbeat earlier, but it eventually stopped... hmm.. ). 2nd pregnancy was in Dec 2010 and this time the growth was normal and even a normal heartbeat can be seen in the ultrasound scan. Hubby n me very happy.. cant wait!! biggrin.gif

Until last monday I went for a regular check up and there's no more heartbeat!! ohmy.gif Baby is supposed to be 10weeks old!! cry.gif

During both the pregnancies, I had blood clots in my uterus.. no bleeding in the first pregnancy but some light brownish bleeding in the 2nd pregnancy for about 1 week++.. (everyday, stained my liner.. but stopped soon baby reach 8weeks.) then, some ocasionally light brownish discharge unsure.gif

So doctor had me take hormonal pills (later changed to hormonal shots, every week) and also 1/4 aspirin a day (so that to try clear blood clots) but there are still clots visible during every ultrasound check ups. (and also cos of the clot spotting, I hav to go clinic every week in my early pregnancy. Every visit RM150 yo!!) rclxub.gif Doc said some early pregnancies are normal to hav a little bleeding..

This time, I went on to check on chinese medical. The sinseh told me to do confinement for bout 2 weeks-1 month and not to get pregnant for at least 6-9 months. He said I need to eat lotsa nutrients to savour my utereus..

Meanwhile the western doctor said I can try for another pregnancy after 2 months of my regular menstrual.. and only if that I have 3rd miscarriage then I need to hav some check up done on my blood and etc.. shakehead.gif I asked doc what was the reason of the miscarriage and he said it has nothing to do with the blood clots, perhaps the baby's DNA not good, as he can see a lot of fluid behind the baby's neck (might cause down syndrome)

So, any other hav some experience in something like this?

Fyi, im 25 this year, and yes I want a baby! no joke! happy.gif

The fact that you can conceive is a sign that your body is working very well. Perhaps some complication. Spotting during early pregnancy is normal as embryo trying to attach to your uterus.

miscarriage takes a toll on ur body too.
rest and recover well before trying.

dun stress urself too much, stress is a hidden killer.

u can also prepare ur body.
take vitamins etc, i think u can take folic supplement too biggrin.gif

I also suggest you rest and fine tune your body first. Do you consume anything special during pregnancy? Bad living habits will lead to miscarriage as well.

Sometimes miscarriages is because of your uterus (chinese sinseh explanation), but sometimes it can also be nature's way of telling you that something is wrong with the embryo (western doctor explanation).

Maybe you should share with your doctor about what you ate or drink. And I also agree that you should rest for few months before trying again. Take care. smile.gif

You've done dilation and curettage yesterday and yet you posted this on the very same day, which is yesterday's evening? Are you for real or is this Coke and popcorn time?

Regards, Joey

Here's the somewhat good news - first trimester miscarriages are often due to defect of the embryo/fetus itself. So relax, and give your body a rest before trying again biggrin.gif

Btw is your husband a smoker?

i would say rest first. Cause you are still young. No need to be in a hurry.

Tune your body to good condition first. Like changing your diet to eat healthy. Also, stop smoking or alcohol.

Also make sure your husband is healthy too. Reduce smoking and alcohol. Maybe your husband's sperm is not healthy.

Also, are you a physically weak person? Do you go for exercise regularly. Exercise like jogging would be good to strengthen up your body. Don't just rely on nutrients and especially chinese herbs alone. You can also try yoga if you want.

wow! thanks for all the concern, i'll definately rest well before trying for another.. smile.gif I just thought to make this topic to share if some1 else hav similar cases like me.. tongue.gif

erm, I believe I hav a normal lifestyle, I hardly go for drinks and dont smoke too.. also asked doc many questions regarding my miscarriages, and even research online bout it... mostly explain the same thing; fetus DNA not normal / bleeding = threaten miscarriages but some do manage to get past that bleeding stage and hav healthy baby / and miscarriages happen when the body knows the fetus is not healthy.. etc..

@Joey Christensen: No hard feelings, my D&C done on 9th, post this on 10th. and after d operation, i seem to be able to walk & talk & do normal stuff.. but im ordered to rest well.. haha.. I also had a pain-killer jabbed after d operation.. so I can definately type and do a lil online surfing at home even straight after D&C.. smile.gif

From what I was told, a D&C is a very short procedure and the patient is usually fine after resting for a few hours or a day. smile.gif

Maybe I'm somewhat skeptical about the whole ordeal. Anyway, I didn't expect someone to be posting something in this particular that soon after an operation. Well, it's just me then. Ignore me if you will.

@alce_librans

I'm sorry for my skepticism earlier on. Please forgive me. Well, take good care and I'm sure you'll be blessed some day.

Regards, Joey

I also had miscarriage with my first pregnancy. The fetus didn't grow, i think it's quite similar with ur problem. My doc said there can be lot of things that caused it, like TORCH, sperm/egg quality, etc. You can check the causes here http://www.babycenter.com.my/pregnancy/gri...ingmiscarriage/
Well in my case, it turns out that my hubby sperms quality is low, so he changed his lifestyle after that (he was underweight and was smoking, not healthy laa blush.gif ). And now i'm 36 weeks pregnant thumbup.gif

I suggest that you n hubby do take pre-pregnancy checkup considering you already had 2 consecutive miscarriages.

My wife had miscarriage last year. We are so happy for our 2nd children. During 1st check-up, can't see anything yet due to 6 weeks old. So go back again to check ard 10 weeks old. The doctor unable to detect the heartbeat and still the same size. So gave some injection to make the baby mature and giving 1 week time.

During the whole week duration, is a test for us as we pray hard for it. As time goes by, my wife bleeding like normal period and getting pain on her stomach until one night, nearly admitted to hospital for D&C. So during the night, the foetus (around 6 months old, can't see any form yet) came out when she pass urine. So went to see doctor the next day and check. Doesn't need to do D&C again.

Doctor advised not to get any pregnant for the next 2 to 3 period cycle as the body need healing before conceive again.

So rest well and let your body to recover fully when try again. You are still young and sure no problem to have another child. All the best biggrin.gif
