The West Coast Expressway, WCE or (Malay: Lebuhraya Pantai Barat) (LPB),  is a planned expressway that will be built on the west coast of Peninsula Malaysia. It will connect Taiping, Perak to Banting in Selangor. The expressway will be built by Konsortium Lebuhraya Pantai Barat (KLPB) soon, as approval has just been given by the government for the construction to begin.

not only that.....
it can ease the traffic too, especially during return to home after several festive holidays.
as far as I remember, the Klang-Teluk Intan road is a very very bad traffic especially after festive holidays. after you pass the
T-junction at bt. 7 (ahead to Kampung Sg. Sireh homestay), you'll find your worst nightmares, the traffic jam stretch from
batu 7 to town center. also happens every Sunday evenings during pasar malam period.

very bad traffic there u know? that's why building WCE is a solution to traffic jam.

i'm looking forward for the upcoming future project.

?

Not an issue.

PLUS even has more toll plazas on the same route.

The WCE alignment will cover places that are not covered by PLUS at this moment.

The reason why so many toll plazas is because there is a toll plaza in every interchange since its a closed-toll system like PLUS. You pay only when exiting,.

PETALING JAYA: Kumpulan Europlus Bhd’s (KEuro) 64.2%-owned subsidiary West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd (WCE) has obtained the Government’s nod to build a 316km highway between Banting, Selangor and Taiping, Perak at an estimated cost of RM7.07bil.

KEuro told Bursa Malaysia in a filing that it had received an approval letter from the Public Private Partnership Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department for the project, which comes with a 60-year concession.

A major portion, or 224km, of the highway will be tolled, while 92km will be toll-free. The project will be operated on a build-operate-transfer model.

To enhance the viability of the project, KEuro said the Government would extend to it a support loan of RM2.24bil, commencing in 2013 at an interest rate of 4% a year, and an interest subsidy of up to 3% from commercial loans for a period of 22 years.

Is it possible for Bukit Raja Interchange to be built since this area has a North Klang Bypass Highway + PLUS Interchange to Bukit Raja Toll Plaza + Bandar Baru Klang Interchange from Federal Highway? Seriously, I don't get it.

KEuro unit signs RM7b West Coast Expressway deal
January 02, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 - Kumpulan Europlus Bhd’s West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd (WCESB) has signed the concession agreement with Putrajaya for the 233km highway from Taiping to Banting.

The investment holding group said WCESB had entered into the agreement today for the development of the highway, including 40km of highway to be built later, The Star reported this evening.

It said the concession agreement was to set out the agreed final terms of the concession.

The Star had reported last year that expressway would be built at estimated cost of RM7.07 billion, excluding the land acquisition cost of up to RM980 million which would be borne by the government.

Operated on a build-operate-transfer model, the project would come with a 60-year concession period.

A major portion, or 224km, of the highway will be tolled, while 92km will be toll-free.

According to KEuro, Putrajaya would extend a support loan of RM2.24 billion for the company to undertake the project. The loan deal comes with an annual interest rate of 4 per cent commencing in 2013, and an interest subsidy of up to 3 per cent from commercial loans for a period of 22 years.

Last week, KEuro reported that it recorded a net loss of RM7.52 million for its third quarter ended October 31 2012 compared with a net profit of RM1 million in the previous corresponding period.

The company told Bursa Malaysia that the loss reported in the current quarter was due to a share of losses in associates of RM2.9 million, a provision for doubtful debt of RM1.83 million and a finance cost of RM2.31 million.

“The preceding quarter’s losses were lower mainly due to the reversal of provision for doubtful debt amounting to RM3.51 million and the reversal of rental charges amounting to RM2.37 milliom, which were over provided in prior years,” KEuro said.

Revenue, however, increased to RM4.08 million from RM3.84 million a year ago.

This alignment seems to be outdated. It was the original proposed alignment, but from my understanding, the new one have been shifted towards the coast at the Perak section, i.e. starting from near Teluk Intan, it stretches to Sitiawan, Pantai Remis all the way to Taiping.
