hi... first time posting in this sub forum.... i dont know if anyone already asked about this problem... but even there is I really dont know what to search for.... so here goes... i have a 29" CRT TV which has the usual RED + WHITE + YELLOW input.... and I have 1 desktop with the GC has HDMI port, DVI, VGA port.... and in my laptop I even have SVideo output and the usual VGA port.... I've been looking for solutions for several years.... (I dont want to use MODEO or any other RMVB/DIVX players)... if possible I want my current desktop/laptop to be my media center unit.... I searched on oversea sites... they are selling all kind of cables/adapters/converters.... but I cannot find it here in Malaysia... is there a way to do this??? maybe HDMI to RED + WHITE + YELLOW adapters anyone??? thanks...

Well...its not as easy as saying "I want to use my computer as a Media Player"...thats the first mistake that most ppl make. 1080p stuff takes a lot of effort for the computer to play...you will be wasting your money to upgrade you present computer........when actually what you really need is a purposely built HTPC in order to play high bitrate Video and Audio stuff...and most end up.....buying a standalone Media Player....cos' with the falling prices of HDTV....very soon, you will be poised to get one...and then you have to upgrade everything again.

You need S-video to composite (red, yellow, white) adapter? I am letting go, from DELL accessories. PM me if interested.

Getting Started

|
For connecting pc to crt tv, there is a possibility to do that. But if i'm not mistaken, you have to use a converter from VGA to RCA. Most CRT tv's don't have a S-Video input. So it's quite difficult to connect from Svideo to RCA. Or you can buy a graphic card that have a video output (yellow colour). That should be working fine.
