I never had this problem in VLC 1.0.5. I even tried to install back this old version and the sound is much louder. But when I use VLC 1.1.7, the latest version, the sound is much lower for some reason.
Also, when I play any mkv type with DTS encoding, the audio is very loud, and also when in DVD menu which the audio never use AC3. So it seems like the prob is only when the audio use AC3 encoding.
The audio seems fine in Windows Media Player, but WMP video is not affected when I set the driver's video setting to use full dynamic range, which is why I stick to VLC
Anyone knows what is the problem here? is this a bug with the new VLC player?
Thanks
