Hi everyone, I have recently started a home cinema set up and rooted out some old MS25i Pearl Edition. The problem is one of the speaker terminal has snapped off. Is this something I can fix? I have tried to turn the remainder of the terminal out but it seems quite well stuck in there!

The easiest way is to use a Soldering Iron and solder the wire directly to the broken terminal

But since we need to sometimes take out the speaker cables......you can solder a short wire that has a terminal at the end.

If you insist on good looks or proper terminal...please remove the covers 4 screws and take a picture (not shaky) of the rear of the cover...and post it in here

take out the whole speaker terminal unit via the four small screws...if they're not soldered inside with other wires, take it out and just bring the unit to jalan pasar and find a replacement....

then replace back...voila!

definitely looks like the normal 4 pronged speaker connector. easily available. i myself have a couple unused. easily available in most electronic spare part shop. jalan pasar should have lots of them in stock.

Hi everyone, thank you all very much for your contributions.
I am a complete newbie to the inner workings of speakers so please treat me gently!
I have taken off the back cover and hopefully I have taken a better photo, Azbro you are right, it was an awful photo wasn't it!
You can make out the broken terminal just to the bottom right of the cylinder with the green disc. There is a nut so I am thinking, am I able to unscrew that, and that would release the terminal? The barrel of the terminal goes into the copper coil. Would I damage the coil if I was to unscrew the nut?
Again, thank you to all who replied to my request.
I live in the UK so unfortunately cannot go to Jalan Pasar. I have had a quick look on Maplins website buit cannot seem to pinpoint that particular part....anyone any suggestions?

You're in luck..the terminal can easily be taken out. Do it slowly..use a long nose plier to do it.

Thats particular terminal is called a 'Binding Post'

Take note of the length of the screw mountings.

Hello again , Azbro...thank you for that, I have been to Maplins and bought a terminal. I will try and replace tonight and will let you know how I go on!....I will certainly be pestering you again should it all go wrong ha ha.

Added on February 8, 2011, 6:53 amDOH! DOH! DOH!!!!! Azbro.....As you can see from the photo, I got the wrong terminal, (broken one on left). I had bought it before I took the old, broken one out! As you quite rightly say...check the length of the screw mounting!!!!!
On a more happier note...I managed to take the broken one out easily.
Tomorrow I will go back to Maplins to see if they have one of the same dimensions. The "Terminal post with small handle" from the link you gave me, may be the one but the dimensions are a little different. eg 'hole in the post' is almost half that of the broken one! But if they have one in stock, I can compare.
Just out of curiosity, your first reply to my question mentioned "The easiest way is to use a Soldering Iron and solder the wire directly to the broken terminal
But since we need to sometimes take out the speaker cables......you can solder a short wire that has a terminal at the end."

What type of terminal would I need?
Sorry for being such a pain, but as I mentioned earlier...I am totally new to inside of speakers.
Thanks again.
