It is much cheaper and easier to get a stand alone HD media player (such as the Yangxi R1055 for RM199) and connect to a AVR via HDMI. You will get much better functionality and can play anything that you throw at it. thumbup.gif

thanks for suggestion, acutally i concerned about it...

but i still prefer that All-In-One concept as i trying to reduce the number of devices around my TV cabinet...
hence lazy to switch on another device to heard music only... tongue.gif

Don't u find inserting a thumb drive more troublesome than turning on a media player? Unless u dont plan on updating on your music collection in the thumb drive, I find the act of pluggin the thumb drive in and out of the AVR a real chore.

Another alternative : get an Airport Express and stream music wirelessly to the AVR either via iTunes or any iOS 4.x devices.

i think we still can select the source of AV receiver even plugged pen drive?
i have a hifi system able to switch to other sources (DVD & media player) without unplug the pen drive...

or u means AV receiver no allowed other souces if plugged pen drive even thought without playing mp3? as i know onkyo AV receiver will auto switch to Ipod source if the owners played the mp3 music from IPod manually, so the AV receiver will auto change to Ipod source when it received audio signal...

No no.. I meant updating the songs in your thumb drive. Surely you would need to unplug it and plug it into your computer. I dunno about u but I find that extremely tiring. biggrin.gif

wont a big issues for me as i wont do daily update lo... the most 2 week once only... smile.gif
so what ur means of the media player should supported for LAN which transfer the music via networking lo...

actually i thinking for onkyo HT-S3300 with add-on dock + ipod nano and cost easily Rm2700...
almost same price with 820 + 5.1 speaker set, lesser wiring too... smile.gif

if i m not mistaken, the USB should also accept external HDD...in this case instead of using USB thumbdrive, you could just plug in a hdd with your entire collection of songs without the need to update your music files on a weekly basis
