Combination of in born talent with hard work.
Well, for the rest of us less talented people, the easiest way to beat a defender is by sheer speed. Get a good first touch and try to shake off the defender by just running past him.

How to dribble like Cristiano:
If your feet are not up for it, use your fingers. "Push the right stick forward, then sweep it up and down a few times..." and voila.

Most of these kids, Cristiano included, have spent hours on the footballs since what, 8? By the time they are 18, they would have already spent TEN YEARS honing their skills. Count how many thousands hours of training that is. Replicate that, and you could be as good.

those skills in the video are just for show....better do something straight forward like messi...tats y messi is much much more effective than ronaldo..especially in tight spaces

it was done during 93 minutes, surely C. Ronaldo just did it for wasting time.

well, the point is that not to compare, but how do you exactly dribble THAT fast like Ronaldo.

Messi's dribbling style is run into the players, but Ronaldo does stepovers, ones which are pretty fast.

edit 1: to compare Messi and Ronaldo's dribbling is like comparing kari ayam and dhal.

both are delicious, but have different style/taste

edit 2: damn i'm hungry.

Anyway, practice makes perfect.

I am not a good football player. I've stop playing football for a long time. Soon afterwards, I started to play basketball. I am a right handed/righty. Trained my left hand and it pays off. I can dribble with both hands. It might sound easy but it isn't. At least for me.

Oh, you must have passion as well.

yup! practice makes better..if not perfect..
im also not very good at dribble..used to be one while still kid..but you know, its child game.. play with all kids..but i stop dribble and stop using my right leg all of sudden to practice using my left leg since secondary school. but im satisfy with the result as i can send accurate long pass using both my leg. and im good at freekick too. i tend to pass the ball instead of dribble. only dribble during late game tongue.gif

the point is, you must not stop practising and honing your skill. its not easy but its worth it.

fsck you made me hungry too. vmad.gif Perhaps you should time yourself while doing the dribble practice. Try to beat your time and if you consistently doing the same practice, I'm sure you can be as fast as you did first time.

For developing good touch on the ball; how have you been training for this until now? For me, the only way you can train this is by training with a partner. Better, a partner who is as motivated to sharpen ball trapping skills as you are. That way he won't get bored after 10 minutes of throwing/passing the ball at/to you for you to practice trapping it and you can have a longer practice session. He throws/passes the ball at/to you for you to practice having a good first touch then you do the same thing. And repeat repeat repeat until you're both Zidanes or Berbatovs or whoever you have in mind that is good at ball trapping.

True that. TS didn't ask for input on whose dribbling style to follow.

Abg kambing, don't make others hungry too. lol.

This is the Robinho part, should have just posted the Falcao part of the documentary. Dude's darn good at futsal. But I don't think his football stint was that successful. He was Futsal Player of the Year kan?

lets put the factor that some are born to dribble a side

-practice makes perfect

-be confident when taking on on defenders,
always have a plan and good instinct...don't doubt yourself when you are dribbling, otherwise you wont succeed.
eg: when you are at a running towards a defender, you should already know what u want to do,
don't reach defender only think one think two
sure kena hack down

there's a huge gap between 'dribble' and 'tricks'.

Messi is a dribbler. C. Ronaldo is a trickster. Brazilian Ronaldo is the combo of both - get past opponent with a trick moves and turns.

agree.. C. Ronaldo depends on his trick, and when the opponent puzzled or fallen into the tricks, its easier for him to past them since opponent body and mind need time to figure out the trick.

while Messi is like maradona, a dribbler, is not a trick. just a damn good ball control within his range make opponent cant get d ball from them and they can beat defender with that.
