Dune has half a dozen models to have wet dreams with smile.gif

Available in Malaysia

HD Max
HD Duo
HD Smart D1
HD Smart H1 (I think so)
BD Prime 3.0
HD Base 3.0

If you don't want Bluray drive than for me HD Duo is great....copy files at Sata speed between its drives....not sure while copying if you can watch movie with external HDD..but i think can.

Next will be Smart D1...but if you can get a great price for HD Base its worth it..

All full Menu BD..you pay a lot of money to get all this...and more of course

Its a Dune bro...you pay top dollar for it, it play Bluray untouched files (BDMV / BDISO) same like as if it was playing the actual Bluray disc. Region is also changeable.

Only thing to take care of is after you have downloaded the movie, create a folder to extract it in.....so all the files will be in that folder. many ppl make mistake and never do folders while extracting...what happen is some folders like "CERTIFICATE" are forgotten...when you eventually play the movie using the Dune...the Dune will not play it because the files are incomplete.

I think the Dune Duo is the right one for you
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1397286

But I'm not sure abt DVD menu....I've never played DVDiso on my Dune...

It's so confusing with so many models. I suppose you can put 2 HDD into the Duo and only 1 HDD in the D1 and that's the only difference?

If I'm not mistaken, the advantage of the Duo is you can copy between drives at 45mb/s...which is incredibly fast.
While doing so, you can watch you fav movies using an external drive.
I'm not sure if copying is limited to whole HDD or can choose individual movies.

But need elife to comment whether true or not cos he did the test

Isn't that only twice the speed of normal USB transfer? And beside, how often do we do HDD to HDD transfer anyway? Plus the Duo's size is so much larger and on video rack, lack of real estate can be an important consideration.

OK, I just confirmed it...tested on my Dune Prime 3.0

BlurayISO...have Menu
Bluray(BDMV)...have Menu
DVD(VideoTS)...have Menu

But for DVDIso I had to convert a DVD to ISO...but it didn't work..came out as playlist empty....probably I didn't convert it properly...first time I'm doing this.. blush.gif

Have Menu means original menu ...not some lite version.

Actually, for the Dune...when you select the movie folder (containing Audio_TS and Video_TS), you have the option to play the movie or open it (meaning browse the folders).
If you select play, it will play like ordinary DVD (with menu of course)...if you Open means you wanna explore the folder.

If your DVD contains both DD and DTS...you can select either one and the Dune will play it with that audio.

For the Dune...DD and DTS is kacang putih...Dune was made for more than that...

Its a Dune bro...not some half baked player....
The cheapest with full support is Dune HD Smart D1
http://dune-hd.com/hd_players/current/133-...d-smart-d1.html
I think its RM800..not sure the latest price

Full menus are one of its specialty. As long as the Original file is not corrupted....It will play as if there it was a real disc....

Make sure that the movie file has DD/DTS audio, and Subtitles...if it only has DTS and English Subtitles...of course you can only set DTS and English Subs on the Dune.
Dune will not automatically look for Malay or Chinese Subs in the net.

If you are interested in the subtitles and audio parts...you can access it two ways...one is with the Disc Menu...another one using the remote..there is a button for Subs and Audio..

BDISO Menu (BDMV is similar):
[attachmentid=2027686]

[attachmentid=2027687]

DVD Video TS Menu
[attachmentid=2027688]

[attachmentid=2027693]

Sorry, I've got no other sample for the DVD files..I think you need to confirm with other ppl abt DVD menu (Subs, Audio etc)

Yes, if the file is not corrupted...100% same as Original Disc.

So you will be amaze that your player doesn't have a DVD or Bluray drive...but can still play it as if it really has one.

Usually....yes...depends on player also....but I can say 99% yes...although a 350mb file will never be same quality as 8Gb file even if up-scaled.

Yes it can, I tried on a DVDISO...DTS and DD is selectable from the Menu..or the shortcut button on the remote.

Then I extracted the Video_TS and Audio_TS...and the results are the same....all menus are accessible.
[attachmentid=2029608]

[attachmentid=2029609]

[attachmentid=2029610]

[attachmentid=2029611]

Audio is selectable as well from the DVD Menu or Remote button
[attachmentid=2029613]

Confirmation of DTS on the AVR
[attachmentid=2029614]

Confirmation of Dolby Digital on the AVR
[attachmentid=2029615]

Subtitles are selectable as well from the DVD Menu or Remote button
[attachmentid=2029616]

But seriously, getting a Dune to play DVD files? ...you should get nice - nice BDSIO stuff instead...

Well, for me BDMV and BDISO or DVDISO and DVDVideo_TS are exactly the same...nothing is compressed....like a 1:1 thing.

Dune has half a dozen model to choose.

Are you using External HDD or internal HDD with docker?

All Dune models are Full menu support!
Except the Dune HD Lite 53D..(which I think is not available in Malaysia)

For more info abt Dune, you should post in the Dune thread...
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1402237
There got many members that will provide info

go for Dune HD Smart H1, small, but can slot in your HDD in it smile.gif
this price no high end bro, i would say more flexible & support almost all format with HD sound as well.

No matter what model u choose, u still need to upgrade the firmware!
and that doesn't mean old model is not good enough! So it just my twenty cents.

You can get it from CZone (Low Yat, look for Ming Chai or PJ Digital Mall, look for Ah Boy) if you are in KL.

They carry Dune Smart H1, R1 (have to buy Bluray Rom separately) and also Max (if you want BluRay Rom all in one).

They also carry alot of other media player. From the most basic Asus Mini, Xtreamer Sidewinder to Popcorn, Dune etc

Both the persons I stated above are quite friendly and helpful

Hope this help

Hm... you can try and call Ms Chalk (CZone Low Yat, Ming Chai has Tuesday off) at 03 2145 8841 and ask if they would ship it to you.

Though I have to say I've not seen the Duo model in their shop... The H1 and D1 are definitely available....

All the best in your procurement then!! smile.gif

I have tried out the H1 and have to say it worked AMAZING on my setup. Really the Rolls Royce of Media Player!
