Ugly empty vertical spaces are ugly. Are those cabinets the type where you could buy optional glasses and add more levels in it?

nope..you cannot add any more levels to it..it stays like that..
if you put taller stuff inside..and occupied most of it space and height..it wont look empty or ugly.

and also..putting trading figures inside this detolf(or whatever it been called)..u need a creative way arranging it..maybe use back the trading box to make some sort like a stairs shape then put those figure on it..

just putting it like that sure make it look dull

Base on my experiences on buying trading figures from Japan websites
You'll hardly get repeated figures unless the whole set have less figures than the no. of boxes you've bought
for example, set of 5 & you've bought 10 boxes, you might having 2 same figures for each characters

So far I've bought Figumate, Re-Ment, Happinet
All of those "10 boxes box" will have at least 1 of the normal figures

oo so much space for new stuff looks like ur ready for any future hauls

It's been a standard in the recent years. You'll get the whole set if you just bought the untampered whole box of it. Maybe it's because they're starting to become ridiculously expensive (lawl Neverland Heroines with their 800 yen crap) that the manifacturers would lose sales if they don't do so? :3
