I was in the similar situation before. But here's the scoop. I enquired around low yat plaza for a local power adapter and if I recall correctly the lowest I could find was RM175++ which I thought was still expensive. I eventually went to a local electronics store in seremban and got a transformer for RM130.

I would consider the transformer as a good investment as it has about 3 power sockets which essentially means it's a socket multiplier just in case if i get more electronics from US.

I'm not sure if the prices of powerbricks has gone down lately but I would suggest to get the transformer, though you'd have to hide it to get a tidy look of the room. I've been using it for 1 1/2 years and it has stood me well. Hope this helps.
