haha good good... but so far JPY serves me best... i tried asian firmware gps and it didnt perform well... in fact it was poor...

Come to think of it, my most probable next droid would be one from Samsung. I don't think I could live without touchwiz now. I love the swipe right left for call and texting, I love the smart search in dialpad, I love the swipe left right on notification bar for brightness. Only thing is the unpredictable lag. Without hummingbird, that shouldn't be a problem. YAY! Hopefully they are using tegra 2 and NOT qualcomm please no adreno 205 please that's a downgrade for us.

hi, i also got my phone before October, bought it on August 2010.. but my GPS working fine.. With new firmware JS4 it works much much better..

sgs's gps not consistent XD

when i 1st bought mine, can lock in a few seconds b4 i realize there's gps lock problems, and the next few times is like hell...

so far only JPY gave me the best experience, battery drain is there but didnt really bother and doesnt affect me also...

now trying to flash another doc's with JP2 modem

Agree 100% there. I was in the Apple section of LYN and stated in one of the threads that I had 400+ apps on my iPad. Straight away my post was deleted and I received a warning PM from the mod about discussing warez. No one even asked me first if those 400+ apps are proper paid apps or pirated apps. Knee-jerk reaction, no? So now I just read the posts there but am no longer interested to contribute.
File transfer without iTunes is do-able only if you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPad (keyword : openssh).

Youtube lags on the SGS? Really? I'm on Digi and apart from a bit of waiting time when first loading a video, playback is smooth to me. Slightly jerkier when viewed in the web browser (I'm using Miren) but very convenient. Playback is crappy on the iPad, but I think it's because of Maxis (I have a maxis broadband sim in my iPad).

BTW, this if off-topic - wanna ask you, is there anything that needs to be set in iOS to enable youtube client to auto pickup and play a video from a web link in Safari? This is not happening for me.. (try http://sugoideas.com)

yea papago SUCKS ...

my GPS status says i got 5m accuracy.... the GOOGLE maps shows 5m accuracy..
The stupid papago shows 15m accuracy ...... PAPAGO will never go below 15m ... I NEVER SEE that happen b4..
Some people here seems to say papago is accurate for them ... i guess "15m" satisfy them... i cant complain about that..

Getting a lock without data plan is realy a B*tch .... It is to the point that you rather not have a GPS on ur SGS... Believe me.. it is THAT BAD....

my sgs is one of the first batch from maxis...i used papago...so far it never let me down...i dont give a damn about the accuracy tho as long i can get to my destination safely....do you really need the 15m to judge a direction?...you have eyes and brain..don't let the electronics take that..after all..it was a human creation..hehehe..am i right?

i'm using darky 9.2, gps opt apps..fasterfix and gps status to lock my sat first before opening papago...need  little bit of patient...but average i can lock my sat around 10-30 sec..depend on the weather...but with my current setup...i must plan my journey first..and secretly lock my sat hehehe...nanti kantoi..haha...i'm used my papago from shah alam to cyberjaya to bangi..no prob...

if i'm not wrong, maxis is the fastest while digi has the most coverage

From my experience, I do feel Digi is faster than Maxis in terms of data connection for internet browsing, while Maxis coverage is better than Digi in whole country.

Agreed. Digi seems to give me more stable connection with consistent speed. Maxis coverage is definitely better (in Penang island) but tends to be a bit inconsistent - sometimes I'm cruising along on HSDPA and suddenly the connection just stops there and then and picks up again after a while.

Note: I have an SGS with Digi SIM, and an iPad with Maxis SIM..

I have used all 3 telcos. Coverage depends on your area too. My vote : DIGI follow by Celcom and last Maxis. There is no BEST plan. Just get a prepaid of each and test first before committing a long term plan with any. One will know which is better within a week

For those of u havent got urself a casing, i recommend otterbox commuter. I found it a better companion compared tp my old sgp ultra slider coz it protects ur phone all round! It even has cover for the earphone jack! Its a combination of soft silicone rubber + hard outer shell. Unlike ultra slider, it does not attract oil at all. This was due to the surface that is like a matte hard surface i guess. Then the power button and volume rocker will be slightly protude, thus u can easily reach them. If u always go to recovery mode, this will come in handy! And because the back cover has a hard surface,u will feel comfort when holding the phone. I dont feel loose when holding it. Add extra grip compared not to bare case. I got one from garage sale

Wah, saket ati la... today went clubbing and dropped my phone on tar road. Chrome part is dented like shit at the bottom. I keep on dropping my phone!! Aghhh!! Too late for a protective casing already.. Wonder if the chrome part can change warranty or not?

hooray! this port seems promising! I am making the switch right now. So far my major concerns are data and bluetooth not working but these are minor bugs compared to cm7, although this is beta and that is alpha. anyway hooray for more aosp roms for galaxy S. bored of envying htc ported roms already.

I love the matt back cover and design, not to be forgotten the processor and screen   but wont be getting one, aint tat rich to follow tech. stil a student btw
