Sorry but not too sure if this is the right place to ask..

Am back for CNY and Mum wants a TV and a media player coz she saw her neighbour's setup...
I'm not too familiar with TV range in Malaysia so need some help here. Would appreciate a few strong recommendations under the budget of RM2500 for

1. 42" or 40" TV with
-Full HD
-Reasonable built in speaker system - no need groundshaking capabilities.. later shake her heart too hard...
-No need 3D
-LCD or Plasma?

2. HDD Media Player
-Just Direct to TV (Standalone?)
-Able to play most formats of HD movie/AV files.
-No need wireless capability etc..
-I only know AC Ryan Playon HD and Eaget .. any others?

Target audience:
-Retiring lady who loves movies and TV(will consider getting Astro Beyond) in her master-room with normal florescent lighting.
